In Safari, take a normal screenshot, open its thumbnail, select Full Page, then save the result as an image in Photos or a PDF in Files. The full-page control appears in the screenshot editor, not on the hardware-button shortcut itself.
Capture the whole webpage in Safari
Apple documents the Full Page workflow for content that extends beyond the iPhone display, using an entire webpage in Safari as the example. Let the page finish loading first so the capture contains the sections, images and text you actually need.

- Open the page in Safari. Scroll through it if necessary and wait for important content, such as lazy-loaded images, to appear.
- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the Side button and Home button together.
- Open the screenshot editor. Tap the thumbnail that briefly appears in the lower-left corner. If you wait too long and it disappears, open Photos and edit the newest screenshot instead; the Full Page tab is normally offered immediately after the Safari screenshot.
- Choose Full Page. At the top of the editor, tap Full Page. The preview changes from the visible screen to the document-length capture.
- Inspect the result. Drag the vertical preview on the right to check lower sections. This lets you verify that the page did not stop before the footer or miss content that had not loaded yet.
- Trim or mark it up if needed. Use the crop controls to remove unwanted browser margins, or open Markup to draw, add text, highlight a passage or place a signature.
- Save it in the format you need. Use the share or save controls to store an image in Photos or a PDF in Files.
The shortcut only creates the initial screenshot. It does not automatically capture the entire page; selecting Full Page in the editor is the step that extends the capture beyond the current screen.
Choose an image or a PDF

Use the image option when the recipient expects a picture or when you want to annotate it alongside other photos. Choose PDF when the page is long, text-heavy or destined for email, cloud storage or document markup. A very long page can be awkward as one image, while a PDF is easier to navigate as a document.

Safari’s separate webpage-to-PDF route
You can also create a PDF without first taking a screenshot. In Safari, open the Page Menu, tap Share, choose Markup, then finish the markup and save the file. Safari’s tab layout can change where the Share control appears, so follow the label shown on your iPhone. This route is useful when your end goal is a PDF and you do not need an image copy.
When Full Page is missing
Apple’s documented example is an entire webpage in Safari. Do not assume that every app, embedded viewer or scrollable panel will expose the Full Page tab.
- Confirm that the page is open in Safari rather than inside another app’s built-in browser.
- Take the screenshot again and tap its thumbnail immediately; the Full Page choice belongs to the screenshot editing view.
- Reload the page and wait for images, accordions and other delayed content to finish loading before capturing.
- If you only need a document, use Safari’s Page Menu, Share and Markup PDF workflow instead.
- For content that never offers Full Page, capture several screen sections and combine them manually, or ask the site owner for a downloadable document.
Capture cleaner results
Load dynamic content first
Many pages fetch text and images as you scroll. Scroll through the page once, pause where content is still appearing, and return to the top before taking the screenshot. Otherwise, the full-page preview may contain unloaded or blank areas.
Remove distractions before the shot
Dismiss cookie notices, newsletter prompts and chat bubbles when the page allows it. A banner that remains fixed while you scroll can appear repeatedly or cover text in the capture.
Crop and annotate after capture
Crop browser chrome or unrelated margins before sharing. Markup is appropriate for arrows, highlights and short notes; keep the original uncropped file if you may need to prove exactly what the page looked like.

Check privacy
Review the full preview for account names, addresses, order numbers, private messages and other information below the visible screen. A full-page image can include much more sensitive data than the section you initially saw.
Other ways to start an iPhone screenshot
If pressing two hardware buttons is inconvenient, Apple also lists Siri, AssistiveTouch and Back Tap as alternative screenshot methods. After any of those methods creates the screenshot, the same editor workflow applies: open the thumbnail, select Full Page when Safari offers it, inspect the preview and save the desired output.
Troubleshooting checklist
The thumbnail disappeared
Wait for the thumbnail to vanish, then open Photos and edit the newest screenshot. For future captures, tap the thumbnail as soon as it appears.
The capture stops at the visible screen
You may still be in the regular screenshot editor. Look at the top of the editor for Full Page. If it is not present, confirm the content is a Safari webpage and repeat the capture after reloading the page.

The lower half is blank
The page probably had not loaded its deferred content. Reload, scroll through the page to trigger loading, wait for placeholders to become real content, and capture again.
The PDF is not in Photos
That is expected: Apple documents the PDF destination as Files. Open Files and check the location selected in the save sheet, such as On My iPhone or iCloud Drive.
Text or buttons are cut off
Inspect the preview by dragging down the right-hand strip. Crop only after checking the whole document, and repeat the capture if a fixed header or overlay covered content.
The file is too large to send
Try PDF instead of a single high-resolution image, crop unused margins, or share a link to the original page when an archival copy is not required.

Can I capture a page opened in Chrome on iPhone?
The documented Full Page example is an entire webpage in Safari. Apple’s guidance does not establish that the same control appears in every other browser or app, so use Safari when you need the documented workflow.

Does Full Page automatically include every element that exists on the server?
No guarantee is stated. Content that loads only after interaction, authentication or scrolling may require you to trigger it first, and some embedded or app-specific panels may not expose Full Page.
Can I keep both formats?
Yes. Save the full-page result as an image in Photos and repeat the save action for a PDF in Files when you need both a visual copy and a document copy.

Will a full-page screenshot preserve clickable links?
A screenshot or exported PDF is a captured document, not the live webpage. Keep the original URL separately when readers need to follow links.
Is there a maximum webpage length documented here?
The supplied Apple guidance explains the Full Page workflow but does not state a maximum page length. Very long pages may produce large files, so inspect the preview and choose PDF when practical.
