What you need before capturing
- Google Chrome on a desktop operating system.
- The FireShot extension, listed in the Chrome Web Store as Take Webpage Screenshots Entirely – FireShot.
- A page that has finished loading. If the page uses lazy-loaded images, scrollable panels, or a sign-in session, keep that session open before starting.
The Chrome Web Store listing reviewed for this guide identified FireShot version 2.1.4.18, updated 24 May 2026. Extension labels and menu positions can change in later releases.
Install and pin FireShot
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for Take Webpage Screenshots Entirely – FireShot.
- Select the FireShot listing and choose Add to Chrome, then confirm the installation.
- Open Chrome’s Extensions (puzzle-piece) menu.
- Find FireShot and click the pin icon so its button remains visible on the toolbar.
Pinning is optional, but it makes repeated captures faster and avoids hunting through the extensions menu.
Capture the complete page
- Navigate to the webpage you want to save and wait for its content to load.
- Start FireShot in any of these ways: click its toolbar button, right-click the page and choose the FireShot command, or press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose the command labeled Capture entire page, Full page, or equivalent. Do not choose visible area or selection if you need content below the fold.
- Wait while FireShot scrolls through the document and assembles the capture. Keep the tab open during this process.
- Use the resulting save or export control and select PNG, JPEG, or PDF, depending on the format your FireShot version offers.
FireShot describes entire-page capture as including areas that cannot be seen without scrolling. The output is one tall image or a paginated document rather than separate viewport screenshots.

When the page contains a scrollable panel
A page can have both a document scrollbar and an inner panel (for example, a table or chat transcript). Standard entire-page capture generally follows the document, not every nested panel. FireShot’s publisher lists capture of scrolling elements as a Pro capability. If the inner panel is the important content, check whether your installed edition exposes a scrolling-element command and select that element explicitly.
Choose the right capture scope

Save as an image or PDF
PNG or JPEG
PNG preserves text and sharp interface edges well; JPEG usually produces smaller files for photographic pages. The listing identifies PNG and JPEG among FireShot’s basic save formats. You can also copy a capture to the clipboard, print it, or use the listed email action.
PDF is preferable for archiving, printing, or sending a long document. FireShot’s publisher describes Pro PDF features such as direct links and selectable text. Availability and exact options depend on the edition and operating system, so inspect the export dialog rather than assuming every PDF control is present.
Where files go
FireShot’s setup information says the free version saves to the Downloads folder. Pro adds a custom folder or cloud-location workflow. If you cannot find a file, open Chrome’s downloads page (Ctrl+J) and check the Downloads folder used by your operating system.

Prices and terms can change, so verify the purchase page before paying. The page describes unlimited captures, advanced PDF export, history, batch and automated captures, while editor and smart-annotation features are identified for Windows.
Troubleshooting full-page captures
The FireShot button is missing
Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin FireShot. If it is not listed, confirm that installation completed in the Chrome Web Store and that you are using the same Chrome profile in which you installed it.
The shortcut does nothing
Use the toolbar button or the page context menu instead. Another extension or a system shortcut may be consuming Ctrl+Shift+S. Chrome may also restrict extensions on special pages such as the Web Store, internal chrome:// pages, or some browser-generated tabs.
The result stops before the bottom
- Reload the page and wait for fonts, images, and scripts to finish.
- Close overlays that intercept scrolling, then run the capture again.
- For pages that append content only after interaction, trigger that interaction first.
- If the missing content is inside an inner scrollbar, use a scrolling-element feature if your edition provides it.
Images are blank or repeated
Lazy-loaded media may not appear until the page has been scrolled. Scroll through the page once, wait for images to render, then recapture. Animated content can also change between scroll passes; pause it where the site permits.

The page looks different in the screenshot
Full-page capture lays out a page across multiple scroll positions. Sticky headers, fixed chat buttons, cookie notices, and responsive breakpoints can therefore appear differently or repeat. Dismiss obstructive overlays and, if necessary, temporarily disable a page feature before capturing. FireShot says its processing is local and can work offline; that is the publisher’s statement, not an independent audit of every browser configuration.
PDF tools or the editor are unavailable
Some advanced PDF, editing, and redaction options require Pro, and FireShot notes that certain tools depend on the operating system. Check the edition and platform requirements shown in your installation before troubleshooting further.
Privacy and practical reliability
The Chrome Web Store listing says the developer has disclosed that it will not collect or use user data. FireShot’s own privacy pages state that captures are processed locally and do not leave the device, and that the extension can work offline. Treat these as vendor and platform disclosures rather than an independent security certification. For confidential pages, review your organization’s browser-extension policy before installing any extension.

Does full-page capture work on every Chrome tab?
Chrome can restrict extensions on browser-generated pages, the Chrome Web Store, and some internal URLs. Use a normal webpage tab for the most reliable result.
Which format is best for searchable text?
Use PDF when your FireShot edition offers selectable-text export; use PNG for a crisp visual record and JPEG when a smaller photographic file is more important.
