For a one-off screenshot in a browser, start with a built-in feature or another extension; for repeatable, automated captures, try ScreenshotNeo first. FireShot is the closest extension alternative when you need batch capture or several output options. Edge has a built-in full-page screenshot with markup, while Firefox Developer Tools can capture a full page or a selected element. GoFullPage itself was restored to the Chrome Web Store in September 2026, so switching is optional—not necessary just because of its earlier removal.
The right choice depends on whether you need a quick capture of the page you are viewing, a batch of URLs, developer controls, or an API that can return screenshots without setting up a browser. Feature and availability details below reflect the official product listings and documentation described in this article’s source material; browser features can change by version and platform.
GoFullPage alternatives at a glance
| Option | Best fit | Capture and output details | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Developers, automation, and AI-agent workflows | Website screenshot API and MCP server; returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. One GET request can capture a URL. | Requires an API key and a request-based workflow rather than a browser button. See ScreenshotNeo. |
| FireShot | Browser users who want multiple capture targets, output choices, or batch workflows | Full-page, visible-area, and selected-area capture; listed options include PDF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, printing, email, clipboard, OneNote, and batch capture. | The listing describes editing, blur, and advanced PDF options as upgrade features. Confirm which features require an upgrade before relying on them. |
| Microsoft Edge Screenshot | Edge users who want a built-in capture and basic markup | Full-page or selected-area capture, markup, then copy or save. | Microsoft says availability can vary by device, market, and browser version. |
| Firefox Developer Tools | Firefox users who need a native full-page or element capture, especially developers | Developer Tools can expose a screenshot button; the Web Console also has a :screenshot helper with options including full-page and CSS-selector capture. |
More technical than a one-click extension for occasional use. |
| Chrome DevTools | Chrome users willing to check their installed version for a built-in command | The DevTools Command Menu runs available commands. | The current official documentation reviewed does not establish that “Capture full size screenshot” is available in every version; verify in your installed browser. |
| GoFullPage | Users who want to keep their existing extension | One-click full-page capture with image or PDF downloads; the listing also describes support for inner scrollable areas and embedded iframes. | The vendor said the official Chrome extension was restored on September 14, 2026; availability is volatile, so use official store listings. |
These options are not interchangeable in every workflow. Browser tools act on content in a browser; an API is better suited to code, scheduled jobs, or larger repeatable workflows. No comparative hands-on test is represented here, so this guide does not rank them by capture fidelity, speed, reliability, or compatibility with dynamic pages.
Which alternative should you choose?
Choose ScreenshotNeo for automation or AI agents
ScreenshotNeo is the first option to consider if you need screenshots from code or an AI agent rather than a browser toolbar. Its API accepts a URL and can return an image or PDF; its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf to Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. It is not a like-for-like browser extension: you make a request and need an API key.

It can also remove known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, with individual steps switchable. The response identifies outcomes such as bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits through headers; only clean shots are billed. The product’s stated policy is that these non-clean outcomes and cache hits cost nothing.
Choose FireShot for browser-based batch capture and output variety
FireShot’s Chrome Web Store listing describes capture of a full page, visible area, or selected area, plus batch capture of tabs or a supplied URL list. Its listed output routes include image files, PDF, printing, email, clipboard, and OneNote. That combination makes it a relevant alternative when you want to stay in a browser extension workflow but do more than save one full-page image.
The listing identifies editing, blur, and advanced PDF options as upgrade features. Check the current listing and plan details for the exact feature you need; do not assume every listed workflow is included at no cost.
Choose Edge Screenshot for a quick capture in Edge
If Edge is already your browser, check its built-in Screenshot feature before installing another extension. Microsoft describes full-page and selected-area capture, markup, and copy or save options. The documented entry points include Ctrl+Shift+S and the right-click menu. If neither appears, check the browser version and whether the feature is available for your device and market.

Choose Firefox Developer Tools for a native capture or element selection
Firefox’s developer documentation covers enabling a screenshot button in Developer Tools and saving a full-page screenshot or a single element to Downloads. Its Web Console :screenshot helper offers more control, including a CSS selector, delay, device-pixel ratio, filename, and clipboard options. This is useful when you need to capture a particular element or want command-level options; it is less convenient than a one-click extension for a casual capture.
Check Chrome DevTools rather than assuming a command exists
Chrome DevTools has a Command Menu for searching and running commands. A command named “Capture full size screenshot” has been described in search results, but the official DevTools documentation reviewed here did not confirm that exact command. Open the Command Menu in your installed Chrome version and search for screenshot commands before building a workflow around it.
Is GoFullPage still available?
According to GoFullPage’s vendor update dated September 14, 2026, the official Chrome extension had been restored to the Chrome Web Store, and the extension was available on Firefox as well as Chrome and Edge at that time. The vendor said the earlier Chrome removal concerned copyright rather than security and advised users to install from official store links because unofficial downloads had appeared during the disruption.

Availability can change. Check the official browser store listing before installing, particularly if a search result or download site offers an unofficial package. The Chrome Web Store listing described one-click full-page capture, PNG, JPEG, or PDF export, and support for complex pages including inner scrollable areas and embedded iframes. It also says very large pages may be split into images. Its premium editor includes cropping, annotation, and emoji options.

Privacy statements: what the listings do and do not establish
The GoFullPage and FireShot Chrome Web Store listings report developer disclosures that they would not collect or use user data; FireShot’s listing also says captures are stored locally. Those statements should be attributed to the listing and developer, not treated as independent privacy audits or guarantees about every browser context. If screenshots may contain personal, customer, or confidential information, review the current extension permissions, privacy disclosures, and the site’s own data-handling requirements before capture.

Use ScreenshotNeo when a browser extension is the wrong tool
For a single page, an extension or browser feature is often the least setup. For an application that needs screenshots on demand, a list of URLs, or an AI-agent workflow, an API avoids relying on a person to open each page in a browser. ScreenshotNeo supports full-page capture, CSS-selector element capture, device presets and custom viewports, retina scale, dark mode, PDF settings, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture, wait conditions, request and resource blocking, custom headers and cookies, timezone and geolocation, resizing, caching, signed image links, async jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, usage reporting, and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can ease migration.
Use this minimal cURL request to capture a page. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the URL as needed. The response body is saved as a WebP image.

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners and removes known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. Troubleshooting full-page captures
- The extension is missing from a search or download page: availability can change, and the GoFullPage vendor warned about unofficial downloads during its Chrome disruption. Look in the official browser store rather than installing a package from an unverified site.
- A built-in Edge option is not visible: Microsoft says Screenshot availability varies by device, market, and browser version. Try the listed shortcut or context menu, then verify that your installed version and device support the feature.
- You need a single element rather than the whole page: use FireShot’s selected-area option or Firefox Developer Tools’ element capture. The Firefox console helper also documents a CSS-selector option.
- A very tall GoFullPage capture produces multiple files: the listing says very large pages may be split into images. If a single continuous file is essential, check export behavior for your page and version before relying on the result.
- A capture contains a banner, popup, or chat widget: browser tools may capture what is present on the page; ScreenshotNeo offers pre-capture removal for known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Its removal steps can be disabled individually.
- A Chrome DevTools screenshot command is not found: command availability is not established for every installed Chrome version. Search the Command Menu on that version rather than assuming a command name from a search result is universal.
- An API request fails or does not produce an image: confirm the endpoint, API key, URL encoding, network response, and response headers. ScreenshotNeo returns outcome and billing information in headers; distinguish a clean capture from a bot check, blank page, timeout, failed load, or cache hit before treating every response as a usable screenshot.
Frequently asked questions
Does GoFullPage work on Firefox?
The vendor said it was available on Firefox, Chrome, and Edge in its September 14, 2026 update. Store availability can change, so check the current official listing for your browser.
Can I capture only part of a page instead of the full page?
Yes. FireShot lists visible-area and selected-area capture, and Firefox Developer Tools can capture an individual element. Edge’s built-in feature can capture a selected area.
Which option supports batch screenshots?
FireShot’s Chrome Web Store listing describes batch capture of tabs or a supplied URL list. ScreenshotNeo supports bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call for an API workflow.
Are store privacy disclosures independent audits?
No. The privacy statements described here are developer disclosures displayed in browser store listings, not independent audits.
