On an iPhone, Safari and Firefox for iOS can capture content below the visible screen and save it as a PDF. On a computer or Android phone, Chrome’s print flow saves the page as a paginated PDF. The result is not always the same as a pixel-perfect screenshot: print-to-PDF lays content out across pages, while a full-page capture preserves a tall, image-like view. Open the finished file and check it before sharing or archiving it.
Screenshot or PDF? Choose the output you actually need
A full-page screenshot records the webpage as one long visual surface, including material below the fold. A print-to-PDF export creates a document with page boundaries, headers, margins, selectable text (when the browser can print it), and print-oriented styling. Neither method guarantees that animations, interactive controls, lazy-loaded content, or a site’s exact on-screen layout will survive unchanged.

Save a full-page webpage as a PDF on iPhone Safari
Safari’s iPhone screenshot viewer can extend a capture beyond the visible screen. Safari also has a documented webpage-to-PDF route through Markup and Files. Menu wording can vary with iOS and Safari layout, so use the labels shown on your phone.
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Take an iPhone screenshot using your model’s screenshot buttons.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears.
- Choose Full Page. The preview now contains content below the original viewport when Safari can capture it.
- Use the available share or save controls to keep the capture. If you want Safari’s PDF workflow, open the Page Menu, tap Share, choose Markup, and tap Done.
- Choose Save File To, select a folder in Files, name the document, and save it.
Before closing Safari, scroll through the preview or open the saved PDF from Files. Very long pages can contain blank areas, clipped sections, or content that only appeared after interaction.

Save a webpage as a PDF on a desktop with Chrome
Chrome on a computer uses the operating system’s print dialog. This creates a print-style PDF rather than a single, continuous screenshot.
- Open the complete webpage in Chrome and wait for important images or sections to load.
- Open Chrome’s Print command.
- In the destination or printer list, select Save as PDF.
- Review the preview. Adjust paper size, orientation, margins, scale, background graphics, or page range when those controls are available.
- Click Save, choose a folder and filename, and confirm.
If the requirement is a long visual copy rather than a paginated document, Chrome’s standard computer print instructions do not establish a pixel-identical full-page screenshot workflow. Use a dedicated capture feature or an automated screenshot service instead.
Save a webpage as a PDF on Android Chrome
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu).
- Tap Share, then Print.
- In the printer selector, choose Save as PDF.
- Choose a storage location, set the filename, and tap the save control.
Android Chrome follows print pagination. If the page has a fixed navigation bar, advertisements, or responsive mobile layout, inspect several pages of the result for overlaps and unexpected breaks.

Use Firefox for iOS to create a full-page PDF
Mozilla documents this full-page screenshot-to-PDF sequence specifically for Firefox on iOS; it should not be generalized to Firefox desktop or Firefox on Android.
- Open the webpage in Firefox for iOS.
- Take a device screenshot and tap its preview.
- Select Full Page.
- Tap Done, then choose Save as PDF.
- Select a destination in the iOS share sheet or Files.
Prepare the page before capturing
Capture quality often depends more on page state than on the save command.
- Wait for lazy-loaded images, charts, and embedded content to appear. Scroll through the page once if necessary.
- Expand accordions, menus, transcripts, or “read more” sections that must be included.
- Dismiss consent dialogs and newsletter prompts when they obscure content.
- For print output, check whether background graphics are enabled and whether the page offers a reader or print view.
- For pages requiring a login, keep the session active until the file is saved.
Check the PDF after saving
Do not assume that a successful download means a complete capture. Open the file and verify the beginning, middle, and end.

- Confirm that the title, navigation context, images, tables, and footnotes are present.
- Look for cut-off text at page boundaries and columns that have collapsed.
- Test links if the PDF is meant for reference; print exports may preserve some links but not every interactive behavior.
- Check file size and page count. An unexpectedly tiny file can indicate a blank or partially loaded page.
- For legal, compliance, or archival use, record the page URL and capture date separately because the PDF may not preserve dynamic state.
Common problems and fixes
The Full Page option is missing on iPhone
Full-page capture is offered in supported app contexts, notably Safari webpages. Make sure you opened the page in Safari rather than an in-app browser, and tap the screenshot preview immediately. If the option still does not appear, use Safari’s Page Menu → Share → Markup → Done → Save File To PDF path or try Firefox for iOS.
The PDF stops at the first screen
This usually means the print flow was used, a full-page mode was not selected, or the page had not loaded its lower sections. For a visual long capture, use Full Page on iPhone or Firefox for iOS. For print output, scroll through the source page first and print again.

Images or charts are blank
Many sites load media only after it enters the viewport. Scroll through the page, wait for network activity to finish, expand hidden sections, and repeat the capture. Some cross-origin embeds or interactive canvases cannot be reproduced by print engines.

Content is hidden behind cookie banners or chat widgets
Close those overlays before taking a device screenshot or printing. If the banner returns on every visit, complete the site’s consent controls or use a controlled capture service that can dismiss common overlays before capture.
Page breaks make the document hard to read
In Chrome’s print preview, try landscape orientation, a different paper size, narrower margins, or a modest scale reduction. If the page is designed as a single visual canvas, a full-page screenshot is usually a better match than print-to-PDF.
The saved file is blank or shows a bot check
Some sites serve a challenge, timeout page, or empty shell to automated browsers. Retry in a normal browser session, confirm that the page loads fully, and do not treat a challenge screen as the page you intended to archive.
