Troubleshooting common problems
Win+Shift+S does nothing
Confirm that you are on a supported Windows installation and that the Snipping Tool is installed and enabled. Open it from the Start menu as a test, then check keyboard-shortcut or accessibility settings if the app opens manually but the shortcut does not.
The capture contains only part of a long page
A normal region or window snip captures the visible viewport. Use ShareX’s scrolling-page mode, or capture the page through a URL screenshot service that supports full-page rendering. Results can still vary for applications with nested scrolling areas or content that loads only after interaction.
The image is copied but not saved
Clipboard capture and file saving are separate actions. Paste the image into an editor and save it, or configure your screenshot application with a default output folder and file format.
A share link does not appear
Check that an uploader is configured, authenticated and selected as an after-capture task. A local save alone cannot create a public URL. Review the destination’s size, rate and retention limits before treating the link as permanent.
