There is no single universal shortcut for a full webpage. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S and choose Capture full page. In Firefox, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+S on macOS, then choose Save full page. Chrome keeps full-page capture in DevTools rather than assigning it to Ctrl+S. On iPhone Safari, take a normal screenshot, open its preview, and tap Full Page.
Quick answer: the shortcut depends on your browser
A full-page webpage screenshot captures content below the visible viewport as one image. That is different from saving a webpage, printing to PDF, or capturing only the screen currently displayed. Use this table to identify the correct workflow before trying a key combination.
| Browser and device | Shortcut or gesture | Second action | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Edge desktop | Ctrl+Shift+S | Select Capture full page | Image of the page beyond the viewport |
| Firefox Windows/Linux | Ctrl+Shift+S | Select Save full page | Full-page image; Save visible captures only the viewport |
| Firefox macOS | Command+Shift+S | Select Save full page | Full-page image |
| Chrome desktop | Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+P (Mac) in DevTools | Use DevTools’ screenshot actions | Full-page screenshot through developer tools |
| Safari on iPhone | Device screenshot buttons | Open the thumbnail and tap Full Page | Full Safari webpage capture |
| macOS screen shortcuts | Shift-Command-3 or Shift-Command-4 | None | Whole screen or selected region, not the entire scrollable webpage |
Labels and availability can vary by device type, market and browser version. If a command does not open the expected tool, use the browser’s menu and look for its screenshot feature.
Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+Shift+S, then Capture full page
Steps
- Open the webpage you want to archive.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- In the Screenshot interface, choose Capture full page.
- Review the resulting image, then copy or save it using the controls shown.
Microsoft describes this as capturing the webpage beyond the visible screen without manually scrolling. The Screenshot command is also available from a page’s right-click menu or Edge Settings, which is useful when the shortcut is intercepted by another application.

What Edge captures
Capture full page requests the page below the fold, not just the pixels currently visible. Do not confuse it with a region-selection mode, which is useful for a single chart or paragraph but cannot document the whole page.
Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+S or Command+Shift+S
Windows and Linux
- Open the target webpage.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Save full page in Firefox’s screenshot interface.
- Save the image or use the offered copy option.
macOS
- Open the target webpage in Firefox.
- Press Command+Shift+S.
- Choose Save full page, not Save visible.
- Save or copy the resulting image.
Full page versus visible
Firefox can capture a selected region, a page element, or the currently visible area. Save visible stops at the viewport; it is not a shortened version of a full-page capture. Mozilla Support describes the tool as capturing visible parts or full webpages and allows the image to be copied or saved. The support page was last updated June 15, 2026.
Chrome: Ctrl+S is not a full-page screenshot shortcut
What Ctrl+S actually does
Chrome’s keyboard reference labels Ctrl+S on Windows/Linux, or Command+S on Mac, as opening options to save the current page. That saves a webpage and its associated files according to Chrome’s save dialog; it does not create one tall screenshot of the rendered page.
Use DevTools for a full-page image
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Open DevTools using your usual browser or operating-system method.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+P on Mac.
- Choose one of DevTools’ screenshot actions that produces a full-page capture.
- Save the image when DevTools provides it.
Chrome’s official developer documentation confirms full-page screenshot capture and documents the Command Menu shortcut. The exact action labels can change with DevTools versions, so use the screenshot entries presented in the Command Menu rather than relying on an old memorized command name.

Safari on iPhone: use Full Page in the screenshot preview
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Take a normal iPhone screenshot with the device’s hardware buttons.
- Tap the thumbnail preview before it disappears, or open the screenshot from Photos and use the editing view offered by iOS.
- Tap Full Page.
- Review the long capture and save it using the available options.
Apple documents this as a Safari webpage feature, not as a keyboard shortcut. The Full Page choice appears in the screenshot preview for supported webpage captures; a normal screenshot without that choice remains limited to the visible screen.
Mac screen shortcuts that do not capture a whole webpage
Apple’s Shift-Command-3 captures the entire displayed screen. Shift-Command-4 lets you drag a rectangle and captures that region. Both are useful for documenting an error dialog or a visible design, but neither automatically follows a webpage below the viewport. Use Firefox, Edge or Chrome’s browser-specific workflow when the requirement is one image of the complete page.
Choose the right output before you capture
- Full-page screenshot: a raster image of the rendered page, including content below the fold.
- Visible screenshot: only the current viewport or selected rectangle.
- Save page: a webpage/document package, not a single image.
- PDF: a paginated document whose breaks, fonts and selectable text follow print layout rather than screenshot pixels.
If a reviewer needs to compare visual layout, use a full-page image. If they need selectable text, links or a smaller file, a saved page or PDF may be more appropriate.
Why a full-page capture can look different from scrolling
Lazy-loaded content
Some pages request images only as you approach them. A browser’s built-in capture may trigger enough loading to include them, but a very long or script-heavy page can still show placeholders. Let the page finish loading before invoking the tool, and check the final image from top to bottom.

Sticky headers and animations
Fixed navigation bars, carousels and animated ads can appear at different positions in a stitched capture. Pause animations when the page offers a control, or wait until the desired frame is visible before starting.
Restricted or changing pages
Login walls, bot checks, consent dialogs and network failures can prevent a complete capture. Resolve the dialog in the browser first. If the page still fails, capture a smaller section or save the page’s source document instead of claiming that the image is complete.
Troubleshooting the common failures
The shortcut does nothing
- Click the webpage first so the browser has focus.
- Check whether another app, keyboard utility or remote-desktop client has claimed the key combination.
- Open the browser menu and launch Screenshot or Web Capture manually.
- Confirm that your browser version and device support the feature; Microsoft notes that availability can vary.
You captured only what was visible
In Edge, reopen the tool and select Capture full page. In Firefox, select Save full page rather than Save visible. In Chrome, use a DevTools screenshot action instead of Ctrl+S or a normal screen shortcut.
Images or sections are missing
- Wait for network activity and image placeholders to finish before starting.
- Scroll through the page once to trigger lazy loading, then run the capture again.
- Disable a content blocker temporarily if it is blocking required page resources, while following your security policy.
- Capture the page in sections if its scripts continually replace content.
The image is enormous or hard to share
A tall page at high display scale can produce a very large bitmap. Save as the browser’s available image format, resize a copy for email, or use a PDF when visual pixel fidelity is not required. Keep the original if it is evidence that may need later inspection.

iPhone Safari shows no Full Page tab
Make sure the screenshot was taken while viewing a webpage in Safari, then open the screenshot preview immediately. Some screens and apps support only a standard screenshot, so the Full Page option will not appear for every capture.

For repeatable captures, automation and pages that need a controlled viewport, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. It accepts a URL and returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture it can accept the consent banner like a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

Options useful for full-page work
- Full-page capture with lazy images loaded, or one element selected by CSS selector.
- Any viewport, 12 device presets and retina scale.
- Dark mode, transparent background and image resizing.
- Custom CSS and JavaScript, a click before capture, hidden selectors, and waits for a selector, delay or network idle.
- Ad, tracker, request or resource-type blocking.
- Custom headers, cookies, user agent, Authorization, timezone and geolocation.
- PDF paper size, margins, landscape mode and page ranges.
- HTML/CSS-to-image conversion, caching with a chosen TTL and signed links for public
<img>tags. - Asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification.
Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can reduce changes when migrating. An MCP server supplies take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools to Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients, so an AI agent can request a capture without a hand-operated browser session.

A practical decision checklist
- Identify the browser and operating system.
- Use the browser’s full-page command, not a generic screen shortcut.
- Choose the explicit full-page option when the tool opens.
- Wait for images, consent handling and dynamic sections to settle.
- Inspect the saved image for missing sections, repeated headers and blank regions.
- For recurring or automated jobs, use an API with explicit waits, viewport and output settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a full-page screenshot include content that appears only after clicking a button?
Only if the page has been expanded before capture, or if the capture workflow can perform that click. Expand accordions, menus or “load more” controls first; otherwise the image represents the page state that was rendered.
Is a full-page image searchable like webpage text?
No. A screenshot is a bitmap. Use the original webpage, a saved document or a PDF when selectable text or links are required.
Should I use a browser shortcut for a scheduled batch of URLs?
Browser shortcuts require an interactive session. For scheduled or high-volume work, an API or automated browser workflow is more suitable because it can specify waits, viewports, output format and error handling.
