Choose Site-Shot if you mainly need affordable website screenshots, full-page captures, cookie/ad cleanup, or country-specific rendering. Choose Urlbox if the same workflow also needs formats such as PDF or video, content extraction, custom JavaScript, or enterprise controls. Their entry plans are not like-for-like: Site-Shot lists $5 per month for 2,000 screenshots, while Urlbox lists $19 per month for up to 2,000 Lo-Fi renders. If you want a third option, ScreenshotNeo combines screenshot capture with consent and popup cleanup, usage-based billing rules that exempt several failed or cached outcomes, and an MCP server.
What the comparison comes down to
Site-Shot and Urlbox both render web pages through hosted browser-based services, but they emphasize different jobs. Site-Shot is positioned around screenshot capture: full-page images, ad and cookie-banner removal, scheduled captures, and country proxies. Urlbox covers a wider rendering and extraction surface, including images, video, PDF, markdown, JSON metadata, and hydrated HTML.
That distinction matters more than the headline price. If you need a screenshot of a page, paying more for formats or extraction you will not use may not make sense. If screenshots are only one part of a document-generation or content-processing pipeline, Urlbox’s additional output types may avoid stitching together separate tools.
The figures and capabilities below are published vendor information for 2026. Prices can change, may exclude VAT where the vendor says so, and should be confirmed with each provider before purchase. The cross-vendor MCP comparison is vendor-authored; verify current package behavior and limits in the providers’ own documentation before deploying it.
Pricing: which service costs less?
At the published entry points, Site-Shot costs less for a similar stated monthly volume. Urlbox’s tiers include different render counts and feature scope, so treat these as plan comparisons rather than a guarantee of identical workload, quality, or concurrency.
#1 Best Overall
| Provider and plan | Published price | Included volume or capacity | Other stated plan details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Site-Shot X-Lite | $5/month | 2,000 screenshots | 10 dedicated workers; geotargeting in 49 countries |
| Site-Shot Lite | $15/month | 10,000 screenshots | 10 dedicated workers; geotargeting in 49 countries |
| Site-Shot Optimal | $50/month | 50,000 screenshots | 25 dedicated workers; 900 scheduled captures per week; residential-proxy retry |
| Site-Shot Professional | $500/month | 625,000 screenshots | 100 dedicated workers; 12,000 scheduled captures per week |
| Urlbox Lo-Fi | $19/month | Up to 2,000 renders | Other plan-specific limits are not stated here |
| Urlbox Hi-Fi | $49/month | Up to 5,000 renders | Other plan-specific limits are not stated here |
| Urlbox Ultra | $99/month | Up to 15,000 renders | Other plan-specific limits are not stated here |
| Urlbox Business | $498/month | Price structure: $495 base plus $3 per 1,000 renders | Confirm how the current plan applies the usage component |
| Urlbox Enterprise | From $3,000/month | Not stated | Enterprise plan; exact terms depend on the offer |
The simplest entry-tier comparison is $5 for 2,000 Site-Shot screenshots against $19 for up to 2,000 Urlbox Lo-Fi renders. Do not assume that “screenshot” and “render” have identical accounting rules, or that the output settings and plan entitlements match. Check each provider’s current quota definitions, overage terms, and any plan-specific limits against your actual requests.
Site-Shot’s larger published tiers increase both volume and worker capacity, and the Optimal and Professional plans state weekly scheduled-capture allowances. The figures available here do not establish a comparable Urlbox worker count, scheduling quota, or overage rate. If workload spikes or scheduled capture volume matters, get those details from the live offer rather than estimating from the monthly render count.
Feature comparison: capture, output, and extraction
| Need | Site-Shot | Urlbox |
|---|---|---|
| Core rendering | Real Chromium browser; full-page screenshots; ad and cookie-banner removal | URL or HTML rendering; responsive, full-page, and element-level capture; product documentation describes more than 100 rendering options |
| Image and other output | Screenshot outputs through API | PNG, JPEG, SVG, AVIF, MP4, WEBM, PDF, markdown, JSON, and hydrated HTML are documented |
| Content extraction | Screenshot-focused API and MCP tools | Markdown, JSON metadata, and hydrated HTML extraction are documented |
| Geographic rendering | Country proxies; the comparison describes matching local IP, language, time zone, and geolocation | Bring-your-own-proxy support is described for higher tiers in the 2026 comparison |
| API and SDK options | Direct HTTP API; official Node.js and Python SDKs | Render links and synchronous or asynchronous JSON API; SDKs/examples for JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, and C# |
| Scheduling and storage | Scheduled captures, saved screenshot library, and retention controls are described | Scheduling and screenshot/archive use cases are documented; storage integrations vary by plan |
Site-Shot’s practical advantage is a focused capture workflow with cleanup and geographic rendering called out as core capabilities. Urlbox’s advantage is output breadth: a pipeline can request a document, video, image, or structured/text representation rather than stopping at a screenshot. Its product page describes over 100 options, but the exact options available to a particular account may depend on plan and current product settings.

MCP: what each server offers
Both providers have an MCP server package name documented, making either relevant if you want an MCP-compatible AI client to invoke rendering tools. A package existing does not by itself guarantee that it will work with every client configuration or meet a particular agent’s permission and deployment requirements.
| Provider | Package command | Documented MCP scope in the 2026 comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Site-Shot | npx -y site-shot-mcp |
Screenshot-centric; full-page capture up to 20,000 pixels, ad and cookie removal enabled by default, and country proxies are listed |
| Urlbox | npx -y @urlbox/screenshot-mcp |
A render tool covering screenshots, PDF and MP4 output, HTML/markdown extraction, metadata, and cookies is listed |
Site-Shot’s quickstart describes rendering in a real Chromium browser, full-page capture, country proxies, and ad and cookie-banner removal. It also documents the MCP launch command and official Node.js and Python SDKs. Urlbox’s broader MCP scope is more attractive when an agent needs to produce or extract something beyond a screenshot. Because the detailed cross-product MCP feature list comes from a vendor-authored comparison, confirm supported inputs, limits, authentication, and client setup with current provider documentation before relying on a specific tool in production.
For Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client, the useful question is not only “does it have MCP?” but “what should the agent return?” If the answer is an image capture, Site-Shot’s narrower toolset may be enough. If the agent must also generate a PDF or video or extract page content, Urlbox’s documented render tool covers more of that workflow.
When Site-Shot is the better fit
- Your primary output is an image screenshot. Its feature emphasis is capture rather than broad document and data extraction.
- You need a low entry price at modest volume. Its listed X-Lite plan is $5/month for 2,000 screenshots.
- Clean captures matter. Ad and cookie-banner removal are stated capabilities, and the MCP comparison says these are on by default.
- You need country-specific page rendering. Site-Shot lists geotargeting in 49 countries on X-Lite and Lite; country proxies are also a stated feature.
- You want scheduled screenshot runs at a stated higher-tier quota. Optimal and Professional list weekly scheduled-capture allowances.
Choose based on the region and rendering details you actually need: “49 countries” is a published plan figure, not evidence that every location or language combination is available on every plan.

When Urlbox is the better fit
- You need more than image output. Its documented formats include PDF, MP4, WEBM, markdown, JSON, and HTML as well as image formats.
- Your pipeline extracts page content. Markdown, metadata, and hydrated HTML make it relevant to workflows that consume page structure or text, not just a visual record.
- You need custom rendering control. The product page describes more than 100 options and custom JavaScript.
- You need a broader MCP render tool. The comparison lists PDF/MP4 output and extraction capabilities alongside screenshot capture.
- You are evaluating an enterprise workflow. An Enterprise plan is listed from $3,000/month; obtain the actual terms and required controls directly from Urlbox.
The additional breadth only justifies the higher price if the workflow uses it. For a project that only saves screenshots, compare the total required volume and operational limits rather than paying for capabilities that will sit unused.
How to decide at your expected volume
- Count successful outputs, not just URLs. Estimate how many distinct captures you need per month and whether each URL needs multiple viewport sizes, regions, or formats.
- List required output types. If the pipeline needs only screenshots, start with Site-Shot’s plan and cleanup features. If it needs PDF, video, markdown, metadata, or hydrated HTML, include Urlbox in the evaluation.
- Check concurrency and schedules. Site-Shot publishes worker counts and some weekly schedule quotas on named tiers. Comparable Urlbox figures are not established here, so request them if they affect delivery time.
- Test representative pages and locations. Use pages with the consent banners, dynamic content, authentication, or geography that matter in production. Verify the output and behavior against your own acceptance criteria; published feature claims do not substitute for a workload-specific test.
- Confirm the commercial terms. Recheck current prices, VAT treatment, quota accounting, overages, retention, and plan availability before committing. In particular, do not infer an overage rate from a listed base plan unless the provider states one.
ScreenshotNeo as another option
If neither comparison is a clear match, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first for a developer who wants a screenshot API plus an MCP server. Its stated differences are clean shots—consent banners are accepted and 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture, with each step configurable—and only clean shots are billed. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed response headers identifying the outcome. It also provides MCP tools for take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
For a quick API call, first create an API key. The endpoint and parameter below follow the ScreenshotNeo API documentation; replace the example target URL with the page you want to capture.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
The same request in Python:
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Or in Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
The API supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output and 63 options, including full-page capture with lazy images loaded, selector-based element capture, device and viewport settings, dark mode, PDF page settings, custom CSS and JavaScript, waits, request blocking, custom headers and cookies, geolocation, caching, signed public image links, asynchronous jobs, and bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call. Its parameter names also work with those used by other screenshot APIs, which can make migration easier.

Neither monthly price nor worker count alone establishes how quickly a particular page will render. Dynamic applications, slow third-party scripts, geographic routing, and the output type you request can all affect the work your capture pipeline needs to perform. The available published comparison does not provide a controlled speed or reliability benchmark between Site-Shot and Urlbox, so there is no evidence-based winner on latency or uptime here.
- Measure your own pages. Try a representative set that includes static pages and the slow or interactive pages your service must handle. Record whether the requested output is complete and usable.
- Plan for usage patterns. Separate routine capture volume from repeated viewports, regions, or formats; each requested variant can change the number of renders or screenshots you consume under provider-specific accounting.
- Check operational constraints. Confirm concurrency, scheduling, retention, retries, and proxy availability for the tier you intend to buy. Do not assume a capability listed for one plan carries across every plan.
- Account for failure behavior. Establish what the provider returns when a page blocks automation, fails to load, or produces an incomplete capture, and how that affects billed usage. The published comparison does not specify a common billing or retry policy for Site-Shot and Urlbox.
Common questions and troubleshooting
Why does a capture differ from what I see in my browser?
The page may vary by region, cookies, timing, or dynamic content. Check the requested country/proxy behavior, cookies, viewport, and wait conditions supported by the provider and reproduce the same conditions when comparing outputs. A feature list alone cannot establish that two services will render an individual site identically.
Why is an MCP package command not enough to configure an agent?
The package name identifies a launch command, not a complete client-specific configuration. Use the provider’s current MCP instructions for your client, including how it supplies credentials and which tools and permissions are enabled. The comparison establishes the package names and broad tool scope, but not the exact configuration syntax for each client.

Why might the listed plan not cover my workload?
A monthly render or screenshot quota does not tell you by itself how retries, multiple variants, overages, storage, or concurrency are counted. Ask the provider to confirm those terms for your intended request pattern before using the plan total as a budget.
Verdict
For screenshot-first projects that prioritize price, cleanup, or country-level rendering, Site-Shot is the more direct fit. For a rendering pipeline that also needs PDF or video generation, markdown or metadata extraction, custom JavaScript, or an enterprise engagement, Urlbox has the broader documented feature set. Compare the exact quotas and terms against your own workload, then validate the page and MCP behavior you depend on before rolling it out.
