One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchShort answer: Site-Shot is the cheaper option at comparable listed volumes and is the better fit when you need scheduled captures, country targeting, and image-only HTTP automation. ScreenshotOne costs more but includes a broader rendering and integration set—PDF, video on higher tiers, S3 uploads, webhooks, official SDKs, and a hosted MCP service with Markdown extraction. For a third option, ScreenshotNeo is the first service to try when clean, automation-friendly captures matter: it removes consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and starts with 1,000 free screenshots monthly.
At a glance
| Service and plan | Monthly price | Included screenshots | Approx. cost per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Site-Shot X-Lite | $5 | 2,000 | $2.50 |
| Site-Shot Lite | $15 | 10,000 | $1.50 |
| Site-Shot Optimal | $50 | 50,000 | $1.00 |
| Site-Shot Professional | $500 | 625,000 | $0.80 |
| ScreenshotOne Basic | $17 | 2,000 | $8.50 |
| ScreenshotOne Growth | $79 | 10,000 | $7.90 |
| ScreenshotOne Scale | $259 | 50,000 | $5.18 |
These are vendor-listed monthly prices and volumes reviewed in 2026; the per-1,000 figures are arithmetic, not independent tests. Site-Shot lists overage rates of $0.0025, $0.0015, $0.0010, and $0.0008 per screenshot across its four plans. ScreenshotOne lists $0.009, $0.006, and $0.004 on Basic, Growth, and Scale. ScreenshotOne says successful non-cached requests count toward allowance and advertises 100 free API screenshots per month. Site-Shot’s paid API has no free API credits, although its separate browser tool is free and needs no account.
Which is cheaper?
At 2,000 screenshots, Site-Shot X-Lite is $5 versus $17 for ScreenshotOne Basic. At 10,000, Site-Shot Lite is $15 versus ScreenshotOne Growth at $79. The gap remains at 50,000: $50 for Site-Shot Optimal versus $259 for ScreenshotOne Scale. Site-Shot Professional has the lowest listed included-unit price, $0.80, but it bundles 625,000 captures, so it only makes economic sense for very high volume.
Do not choose from sticker price alone. Match the tier that contains your required output and workflow. A PDF or video requirement can force ScreenshotOne Growth or Scale, while a schedule or a particular country can make Site-Shot the practical choice. Check current billing, cache, and overage rules before committing because vendor pricing is changeable.
Features and output formats
Site-Shot
- HTTP screenshot API with full-page capture; the comparison reports full-page output up to 20,000 pixels.
- Ad and cookie-banner blocking/removal, country targeting in 49 countries on each listed plan, and scheduled capture histories.
- Paid tiers list weekly scheduled-capture limits from 35 to 12,000 and dedicated workers.
- Official SDKs for Node.js and Python; other languages can call the HTTP API.
ScreenshotOne
- Image formats plus PDF and HTML rendering, caching, S3 upload, webhooks, signed links, and stealth mode.
- Growth and Scale add location choice, scrolling screenshots, and video generation; Scale also lists GPU rendering and priority support.
- Official SDK language families listed in the comparison are Go, Java, Ruby, Python, C#/.NET, PHP, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
ScreenshotOne’s credits documentation states: Currently, everything costs 1 credit, be it a full-page screenshot, a scrolling screenshot, a PDF, or a video.
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and unused credits do not roll over.

MCP for AI agents
Site-Shot: local stdio
Site-Shot documents a local server installed with npx -y site-shot-mcp. Configure the SITESHOT_API_KEY environment variable; the key requires a paid Site-Shot API plan, and calls consume that plan’s allowance. The tools return screenshot images and support viewport or full-page capture, ad/banner blocking, and country targeting. The documented server has no hosted endpoint or Markdown conversion.
ScreenshotOne: hosted OAuth
ScreenshotOne’s current MCP endpoint is https://mcp.screenshotone.com. An MCP client connects remotely and authorizes through OAuth, so you do not run a local process or paste an API key into the client. The documented tools are render-website-screenshot, extract-website-markdown, and get-usage. Screenshot results can include full-page slices and content metadata; returned image and content URLs are temporary.
The MCP screenshot tool does not expose API cache or response-type controls, and its documented server configuration disables API caching. That is different from the regular API’s plan and cache behavior. For an agent that needs both visual capture and page text, ScreenshotOne’s hosted tool is the broader option; for a locally controlled, image-focused setup, Site-Shot is simpler.

Which should you choose?
Choose Site-Shot when
- Your workload is primarily PNG/JPEG-style screenshots and price per capture is decisive.
- You need scheduled histories or country targeting included across plans.
- You prefer a local MCP process and are comfortable supplying a paid API key.
- Your team uses Node.js or Python and does not need a large SDK catalog.
Choose ScreenshotOne when
- You need PDF now, or video generation on Growth or Scale.
- S3 delivery, webhooks, signed links, stealth mode, or HTML rendering are part of the pipeline.
- Your developers benefit from official SDKs across seven language families.
- An AI client should connect through hosted OAuth and also extract Markdown or check usage.
Try ScreenshotNeo first as an alternative
ScreenshotNeo is #1 for developers who want clean captures and predictable billing. Before capture it accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be disabled. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing result. It also provides an MCP server for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
Every plan includes features such as full-page lazy-image loading, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets plus custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper and page controls, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture, selector hiding, selector/delay/network-idle waits, request and resource blocking, headers/cookies/user-agent/Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable-TTL caching, signed links, asynchronous signed webhooks, bulk capture for 100 URLs per call, a usage API, an OpenAPI specification, and compatible parameter names used by other screenshot APIs. Pricing is Free for 1,000 shots per month without a card, then Starter $5/3,000, Growth $15/15,000, Pro $39/60,000, Scale $99/250,000, and Business $249/1,000,000; yearly billing gives two months free.
Practical MCP setup checklist
- Decide hosting. Use Site-Shot’s local stdio server when local process control is important; use ScreenshotOne’s hosted OAuth endpoint when you want no local daemon and additional text tools.
- Set credentials correctly. Site-Shot requires
SITESHOT_API_KEYfrom a paid API plan. ScreenshotOne handles authorization in the remote MCP flow. - Limit capture scope. Start with a viewport screenshot, then enable full-page or slices only when needed; this reduces agent latency and unnecessary credits.
- Validate temporary URLs. ScreenshotOne’s returned image and content links are temporary, so download or process them during the workflow.
- Monitor allowance. Use ScreenshotOne’s
get-usagetool and your provider dashboard; remember that monthly credits reset and do not roll over.
Cost, reliability, and caching considerations
Both vendors advertise full-page capture and ad or cookie-banner handling, but neither source set supplies independent latency, uptime, or visual-accuracy benchmarks. Treat plan limits as commercial allowances, not performance guarantees. Caching can materially change spend: ScreenshotOne says successful non-cached requests count toward allowance, while its MCP configuration disables API caching. Site-Shot’s listed overage rates make sustained overflow cheaper at every published tier, but a high-volume plan may cost more than a smaller plan if your demand is sporadic.
Troubleshooting
The Site-Shot MCP command starts but captures fail
Confirm that SITESHOT_API_KEY is set in the environment inherited by your MCP client and that the associated account has a paid API plan and remaining allowance. Test a normal viewport capture before adding full-page, country, or blocking options.

The MCP client cannot connect to ScreenshotOne
Use the hosted endpoint exactly as documented: https://mcp.screenshotone.com. Complete the OAuth browser flow in the client; do not configure it as a local command or expect an API key prompt.
A ScreenshotOne result disappears later
Returned image and content URLs are temporary. Download the asset or pass it to the next processing step immediately rather than storing the URL as a permanent reference.

The bill is higher than expected
Check whether requests were successful and non-cached, whether your plan’s included volume was exceeded, and whether a feature requires a higher tier. For Site-Shot, apply the published overage rate to excess captures. For ScreenshotOne, remember that a screenshot, full-page capture, PDF, or video each costs one credit according to its credits documentation.
