How to Access Trustpilot Reviews and Company Data Legally

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not scrape Trustpilot reviews or company data unless Trustpilot has expressly authorized the collection. Trustpilot’s consumer and business terms prohibit unauthorized scraping and text or data mining. If you represent a business and need review data, investigate the Trustpilot for Business API, confirm you qualify for its API module, and get Trustpilot’s approval for your exact use before collecting or reusing anything.

Can you scrape Trustpilot reviews?

Not without express permission. Trustpilot’s consumer terms cover people using the platform through automated technologies, including AI agents and screen scrapers. They say platform content may be collected only as the platform provides it or Trustpilot specifically approves it, and prohibit text mining, data mining, and web scraping without express permission. Trustpilot’s business terms separately prohibit unauthorized access, searching, collection, and scraping in relation to its platform and services.

The consumer terms, Version 7.0, dated February 2025, put it plainly: “You must not carry out in any way (including facilitating, permitting or authorising) any text mining, data mining or web scraping of our platform for any purpose without our express permission.” The business terms are a separate set of obligations; being a company, having a business account, or having a commercial reason for gathering reviews does not by itself establish permission to scrape.

Public visibility is not the same as authorization. The terms reviewed do not establish that copying a page manually, a page being accessible in a browser, or a robots.txt setting creates an exception. Do not treat any of those as permission. If the terms or authorization do not clearly cover your intended collection, ask Trustpilot before proceeding.

What can happen if you collect data without permission?

Trustpilot’s Action We Take policy, dated March 2026, says unauthorized scraping is not allowed and that Trustpilot may block access and, where appropriate, commence legal proceedings. Its June 2026 business guidelines describe potential measures for businesses that include blocking or suspending business-account features, terminating an agreement, placing a Consumer Warning, hiding a TrustScore, and legal action.

These are actions Trustpilot says it may take, not a prediction that every case will lead to every measure. The practical point is that an unauthorized collection can create access, account, and legal risks. Do not assume a small volume, a one-time collection, or an internal-only purpose makes it permitted; the terms reviewed do not state those as exceptions.

Choose an authorized route before collecting anything

Route 1: Use only content Trustpilot provides or approves for your use

If you do not have explicit permission for a data-collection method, do not run it. Check what Trustpilot itself makes available for your intended purpose and whether its terms permit that use. If you need fields, volume, retention, or reuse that are not clearly covered, get written clarification or express authorization from Trustpilot before collection.

Route 2: If you act for a business, ask about the Trustpilot for Business API

Trustpilot’s developer documentation describes APIs for triggering review invitations, collecting and displaying reviews, and integrating review workflows with an existing toolchain. Access to API data requires a Trustpilot for Business account with access to the API module. That is a documented business route to investigate, not evidence of an unrestricted public API or a general exception to the scraping rules.

Before building an integration, consult Trustpilot’s official developer introduction and confirm your eligibility and permitted use with Trustpilot. The documentation described here does not establish API pricing, rate limits, every available field, or open access for consumers, so obtain those details directly rather than designing around assumptions.

Get permission and scope in writing

Ask Trustpilot to confirm the authorization for your actual workflow, not merely whether an API or integration exists. Explain who will access the data, why you need it, and what you intend to do with it. Keep Trustpilot’s response and the applicable terms with your project records.

  1. Identify the purpose. State whether the need is to invite customers to leave reviews, display reviews, analyze feedback internally, or another use. These purposes may involve different permissions and data requirements.
  2. List the data fields. Specify which review or company information you need. Do not assume that API access includes every field visible on the site.
  3. Describe collection and access. Explain the proposed API or other method, the business account that would use it, and who will have access to the resulting data.
  4. Clarify retention and reuse. Ask how long you may retain the data and whether you may display, share, export, analyze, or otherwise reuse it. Get confirmation for each relevant purpose.
  5. Confirm the current terms and technical limits. Ask about eligibility for the API module, pricing, rate limits, fields, and any operational requirements that matter to your implementation.
  6. Wait for approval before collecting. If the authorization, scope, or permitted use is unclear, pause. Do not substitute a browser script, third-party scraper, or manual copying for the confirmation you need.

How to implement the authorized API route

Start with Trustpilot’s developer documentation and the access granted to your Trustpilot for Business account. The material described here establishes the API’s broad uses and the account/module prerequisite, but not endpoint paths, authentication syntax, request parameters, response schemas, or code samples. Those details must come from the current official documentation and your account’s authorization; do not infer them from website pages or examples for unrelated APIs.

  1. Confirm that the business account has access to the API module and that Trustpilot has approved your intended data use.
  2. Use the current official developer documentation and account credentials to select the API operation that matches your authorized purpose, such as collecting or displaying reviews.
  3. Implement only the approved fields, frequency, and downstream uses. Apply the retention and display conditions Trustpilot confirms for your account.
  4. Test against the response format and limits documented for your access. Handle authorization failures and service errors without falling back to scraping public pages.
  5. Keep the integration and its use within the current agreement. Reconfirm scope with Trustpilot if your purpose, data fields, audience, or reuse changes.

There is no responsible universal command to provide here: the available official information does not specify a public endpoint, credentials format, parameters, or limits. Use the documentation provided for your approved account rather than treating guessed code as an authorized or supported integration.

Why browser-based scraping is the wrong fallback

A browser script can make pages easier to load, but it does not create permission to extract their contents. The same applies to an AI agent or screen-capture tool: the fact that software can access a page does not alter Trustpilot’s terms. Trustpilot’s consumer terms explicitly include automated technologies in their scope and prohibit unauthorized text/data mining and scraping.

If you need a record of content you are authorized to capture, use only the method and scope Trustpilot has approved. A screenshot is an image of a page, not API access, a data license, or permission to collect and republish reviews. Do not use a screenshot service to evade restrictions or to build a dataset from Trustpilot pages without express authorization.

Or skip the browser setup

For screenshots of a site you own or are authorized to capture, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request website screenshot API. This is a page-capture service, not a Trustpilot data API and not a way to obtain permission to collect Trustpilot content. Do not point it at Trustpilot for unauthorized collection.

With authorization for the target page, the request looks like this:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Before an authorized capture, it can accept the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. An MCP server provides the take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Troubleshooting an authorized data project

Your business account cannot access API data

The documented prerequisite is a Trustpilot for Business account with access to the API module. Confirm both with Trustpilot. Do not assume that a consumer account, a business account without the module, or a visible API overview grants access.

The API does not provide a field or use you need

The official introduction does not specify every available field or permitted reuse. Ask Trustpilot whether the field is available to your account and whether your intended display, analysis, retention, or redistribution is allowed. Do not fill a data gap by scraping the site.

You cannot establish whether a collection method is allowed

Stop collection until Trustpilot confirms the method and scope. The terms say collection must be provided by the platform or specifically approved, and prohibit unauthorized scraping. A technical workaround is not a substitute for express permission.

Your requirements change after approval

Get the changed scope confirmed before expanding collection or reuse. In particular, check again if you add fields, extend retention, expose data to new audiences, or repurpose it from internal analysis to display or redistribution.

Decision checklist

  • Do you have express permission for the collection method and purpose? If not, do not scrape.
  • Are you a business seeking review workflows or review data? Ask about the Trustpilot for Business API and API module eligibility.
  • Have fields, retention, display, reuse, and current terms been confirmed for your account?
  • Are you keeping browser capture separate from review-data collection? A screenshot service does not authorize scraping.
