To save content that extends beyond the visible iPhone screen as a PDF, take a screenshot, tap Full Page, open the save options, choose Save PDF to Files, pick a folder, and tap Save. Apple documents this workflow for content such as an entire webpage in Safari; the Full Page control is not established as available in every third-party app.
Save a full-page iPhone screenshot as a PDF
Use the steps below with the current labels in Apple’s iOS 27 iPhone guide. Open the page or document first, then complete the capture before leaving that screen.
- Open the content. In Safari, load the webpage you want to keep. Apple uses an entire webpage as its example of content that continues below the screen. Full Page availability can vary by app; Apple’s instructions do not promise it in every third-party app. Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide
- Take a screenshot.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and either volume button together (Apple’s guide specifies the side button and volume up).
- On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home button together.
- Choose Full Page. Tap the screenshot thumbnail or controls, then tap Full Page. Drag the preview to inspect the parts below the screen. Use the crop controls if you need to remove unwanted content.
- Export as a PDF. Tap the save/options control, choose Save PDF to Files, select a destination in Files, and tap Save.
Apple saves ordinary screenshots to Photos automatically. The PDF route is different: you explicitly choose Save PDF to Files, so the resulting document is stored in Files rather than being treated as the normal screenshot image in Photos. Apple documents both behaviors.

Press and release rather than holding the buttons. Holding them invokes other power or emergency controls instead of taking the screenshot.

Review, crop, and locate the PDF
Review the complete capture
The Full Page preview lets you drag through content that was below the initial viewport. Review the bottom and any dynamically loaded sections before saving; crop the preview when headers, banners, or blank margins should not be included.
Find the saved file
During export, choose a location such as iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or another enabled Files provider. After saving, open the Files app and browse to that folder. If you only look in Photos, you may see the original screenshot image but not the PDF created through Save PDF to Files.
When Full Page is unavailable
The screenshot controls may show only the visible-screen image. Apple’s cited instructions demonstrate Full Page with an entire Safari webpage, but they do not establish support for every app or every type of content. If Full Page is missing, try the same content in Safari when that is appropriate, or use Safari’s separate webpage-export workflow below. Do not assume that an app showing a normal screenshot can also produce a scrolling PDF.
Safari’s separate webpage-to-PDF workflow
Safari can export a webpage as a PDF without first creating a screenshot. This is a webpage export, not the screenshot-controls’ Full Page capture, and it is useful when you want the page’s printable representation rather than an image of the rendered screen.

- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Tap Share. Depending on the Safari layout, Apple says the control may be available through the Page Menu.
- Choose Markup.
- Tap Done, then choose Save File To.
- Name the PDF, select a Files location, and save it.

Saving a PDF that is already open in Safari
If Safari is displaying a downloaded PDF rather than a webpage, use the Page Menu or Share control and choose Save to Files. This saves the existing PDF; it is not a new full-page screenshot. Apple’s instructions are available in its Safari PDF download guide.
Troubleshooting
There is no Full Page tab
Full Page is not documented as universal across apps. Test the page in Safari if possible. For a webpage, use Safari’s Markup export instead. If neither option appears, the app may expose only a viewport screenshot.

The screenshot captures only what was visible
Tap the screenshot preview immediately and look for Full Page. A regular screenshot gesture alone produces the visible-screen image. If the control still does not appear, the current app or content type may not support a scrolling capture.
The PDF is shorter than expected
Inspect the Full Page preview by dragging through it before saving. Content that the page has not rendered yet, content behind an interaction, or content outside the supported capture area may not be included. Crop only after confirming the full preview.
I cannot find the PDF in Photos
That is expected when you selected Save PDF to Files. Open Files and navigate to the destination chosen in the save sheet. Photos is where Apple says the normal screenshot image is automatically saved.

The save sheet shows the wrong folder
Tap the location or folder name in the Files save sheet and select the intended iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or enabled provider location before tapping Save. If a provider is unavailable, choose a local or iCloud location visible in Files.
Safari’s controls look different
Apple notes that the Share control may appear through Safari’s Page Menu depending on the layout. Look for either route, then follow Markup → Done → Save File To for the webpage-export method.
Practical quality checks before sharing
- Scroll through the Full Page preview and verify the beginning, middle, and end.
- Crop browser chrome, repeated headers, or empty space only when those elements are not useful to the recipient.
- Confirm that the destination in Files is one you can later access from the sharing app.
- Open the saved PDF from Files once to ensure it contains the intended pages before sending or uploading it.
- For sensitive pages, remember that the PDF preserves what was rendered, including visible account names or other private data.

Apple’s documented PDF action is Save PDF to Files. Photos receives the ordinary screenshot image automatically; save the PDF in Files, then share or move it from there.
Is Safari’s Markup export the same as Full Page?
