Profiles rely on prompts and personal details, so the quality of your experience depends partly on whether members fill those sections out thoughtfully. If you enjoy noticing a hobby, opinion or travel story and asking about it, Hinge’s interaction model is the more direct match.
OkCupid: priorities and questions are the organizing idea
OkCupid’s homepage says it is “the only dating app that matches you on what matters to you.” That is company marketing, not independent proof that its matching is more accurate than Hinge’s. Still, the positioning tells you what to expect: the service emphasizes personal priorities, dealbreakers and question-based information.
Premium members can view public answers to questions, while Basic includes dealbreakers. This can help someone who wants to screen for important preferences before investing in a long chat. It can also feel like too much information if you prefer a lighter, photo-and-prompt introduction.

Hinge+ and HingeX
Hinge’s official feature table lists Hinge+, HingeX and the free tier. Both paid tiers include unlimited likes, the ability to see all incoming likes at once and advanced dating preferences. HingeX adds enhanced recommendations, Skip the Line (described by Hinge as always-on Boost) and priority likes.
These features address volume, sorting and visibility. They do not demonstrate that a subscriber will meet a more compatible partner or achieve a better relationship outcome. Subscription prices and offers are account- and location-dependent; use the checkout screen for the amount that applies to you.
Hinge’s own research claims
In a January 15, 2025 newsroom announcement, Hinge reported that likes on text prompts were 47% more likely to lead to a date than likes on photos. That is Hinge-reported research and does not compare Hinge with OkCupid, so treat it as a company finding about Hinge’s own activity rather than a cross-app performance result.
The same announcement reported that 63% of surveyed Hinge users had difficulty knowing what to include on their profile. That is a Hinge user survey, not a population-wide estimate. Use it as a reminder to write specific prompts, not as evidence that Hinge is superior.

Do not treat SuperLikes, priority placement, Boosts or read receipts as evidence of better matching. They change how your activity is displayed or how quickly you can process interest. Prices, promotions and available plans can change by platform, region and account.

What Hinge documents
Hinge says recommendations can use information you provide or generate through service use, including age, gender, location, preferences and whom you like, skip or match with. It also says profile information may support offers and discounts tailored to a profile. Review permissions and profile visibility before entering sensitive details.
What OkCupid documents
OkCupid’s privacy-controls information says nobody can search specifically for your name or profile. Its Incognito subscription limits visibility to people you like or message. Those are specific controls, not proof that OkCupid has stronger overall privacy or safety than Hinge.
Meeting safely
- Keep sensitive financial, identity and address information off your profile and early chats.
- Use the app’s reporting and blocking controls when behavior violates its rules.
- For a first meeting, choose a public place, tell someone your plan and arrange your own transportation.
