On an iPhone, open the webpage in Safari, take a normal screenshot, tap Full Page in the preview, inspect or crop the capture, then save it to Photos as an image or to Files as a PDF. Apple documents this workflow for webpages that extend beyond the visible screen. The steps below apply to iPhone; Safari on Mac uses different capture and webpage-saving tools.
Capture an entire Safari webpage on iPhone
- Open the page in Safari. Navigate to the webpage you want to preserve. Let the page finish loading before capturing; content that has not loaded yet may not appear in the result.
- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and quickly release the Side button and Home button together.
- Open the preview. Tap the thumbnail that appears temporarily in the lower-left corner. If it disappears, open the screenshot from Photos and use the available editing controls, although the Full Page control is presented most directly from the screenshot preview.
- Choose Full Page. At the top of the editor, tap Full Page. Safari displays a long preview extending beyond the portion that was visible on screen.
- Inspect and crop. Drag through the page preview to check the captured content. Use the crop controls if you need only part of the webpage. Markup tools can add annotations before you save.
- Save the result. Choose the option to save an image to Photos, or choose Save PDF to Files when you need a document. Pick a folder in Files and confirm the save.
Apple describes the feature as capturing a full page beyond the edge of the screen, including an entire webpage in Safari. The final file is longer than a normal screen image because it contains the page area revealed by scrolling.

An image is convenient for visual sharing, while a PDF is usually easier to file and send as a document. Apple’s full-page screenshot instructions cover saving the capture as an image or PDF; they do not publish general file-size or quality comparisons, so choose based on how you will use the result.
Use Safari’s webpage-to-PDF Markup workflow
If your goal is a marked-up webpage PDF rather than a long image, Safari provides a separate route:

- Open the webpage in Safari on iPhone.
- Open the page menu and choose the Share control.
- Choose Markup.
- Annotate the resulting PDF if needed, then save it to Files.
The Share control’s position depends on whether Safari is using the Bottom or Top tab layout. This workflow should not be confused with saving the Full Page screenshot as an image; it creates a webpage PDF intended for markup and document storage.
Take the screenshot without hardware buttons
Apple lists Siri, AssistiveTouch and Back Tap as alternatives for activating a screenshot. For example, you can ask Siri to take a screenshot, configure a screenshot action in AssistiveTouch, or assign Screenshot to Back Tap in Accessibility settings. After the screenshot is created, the documented Full Page process remains the same: open the screenshot preview, tap Full Page, inspect or crop, and save. Apple does not describe separate Full Page steps for each button-free activation method.
What changes on Safari for Mac
Do not apply the iPhone Full Page instructions to a Mac. Apple’s Mac screenshot guide covers an entire screen, a selected area, or a window or menu using keyboard shortcuts or the Screenshot app. Those are screen captures, not a documented Safari command that automatically stitches an entire scrolling webpage into one image.
Save a webpage as a file instead
Safari on Mac can save a whole webpage as a Web Archive or save its Page Source. A Web Archive can preserve graphics and links while destination pages remain available; Page Source saves the HTML source. These are webpage-saving formats, not full-page screenshot images. Some pages may prevent saving items.

Which Mac format fits?
- Use a normal Mac screenshot when you need the visible screen, a selected region, or a window.
- Use Web Archive when you need a locally saved webpage package that can retain graphics and links.
- Use Page Source when you specifically need the page’s HTML source.
- Use a separate webpage-capture service when the deliverable must be one long image or a rendered PDF; the iPhone Full Page control is not a Mac feature.
When Full Page is missing or the capture looks incomplete
Apple’s guide explains the Full Page control but does not publish a complete compatibility matrix, minimum iOS version, or exhaustive list of content types that support it. If you do not see Full Page, work through these checks without assuming a particular model or version is required.
Check that you are editing the screenshot preview
Take a fresh screenshot in Safari and immediately tap its thumbnail. The Full Page tab is shown in the screenshot editor, not in the ordinary Safari page view. If the thumbnail vanished, repeat the capture so you can open the editor at once.
Confirm that Safari captured the webpage
Make sure Safari is the app in the foreground when you press the buttons. A screenshot taken while another app is active produces that app’s capture and may not offer a webpage-length result.
Allow the page to finish loading
Images and sections that load only after scrolling can be absent or incomplete if the capture starts too soon. Wait for visible content to settle, reload the page if necessary, and try again. The source material does not promise that every dynamic, restricted or unusual page will produce a Full Page option.

Reduce the scope
If the complete page is unwieldy, use the crop controls in the editor to keep only the section you need. A normal screenshot of a visible section is another practical fallback when a long capture is unavailable.
Check where the file was saved
Images go to Photos; PDFs go to Files. If you cannot find the result, open the corresponding app and check the folder or album selected during saving. A PDF will not appear in Photos simply because it originated as a screenshot.
Performance, privacy and reliability considerations
Long pages take longer to inspect
A full-page capture can be substantially taller than the screen. Inspect the preview before saving so you do not archive an accidental blank section, repeated footer or unwanted navigation area. Cropping before export keeps the file focused.
Dynamic content can change
Live feeds, ads, consent dialogs and content that appears after interaction may not look the same every time. If an exact visual record matters, note the page state and capture time in your project notes. The Apple instructions establish the capture workflow, not a guarantee that every dynamic element will be frozen identically.

Protect sensitive information
Review the entire long preview for account names, addresses, order numbers, tokens or other private data. Crop or annotate before sharing, and remember that a PDF can preserve all captured text and images even when only part is visible at first glance.
