Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo save an entire rendered web page as a JPEG, capture it as a full-page screenshot first, then export the resulting image as JPEG if your browser does not offer JPG directly. In Firefox, right-click an empty area, choose Take Screenshot, select Save full page, and download the documented PNG; open that PNG in an image editor and export a JPEG copy. Edge has a similar built-in Web capture workflow, while Chrome’s Save Page As and Save as PDF commands create different file types rather than a JPEG image.
What “save a web page as JPEG” actually means
A web page is normally a collection of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, and other files. A JPEG is one flattened image of what the browser rendered. Therefore, use a screenshot tool when you need a visual copy of the page. Save Page As preserves webpage files, and Print to PDF creates a document-style PDF; neither is a JPEG screenshot.
- Visible screenshot: captures only the current viewport.
- Full-page screenshot: captures the document from top to bottom, including content below the fold.
- JPEG export: converts the captured image to the JPG/JPEG format, usually with some compression.
Long pages can produce very tall images. Fixed headers, lazy-loaded images, animations, cookie dialogs, and responsive layouts can affect the result, so check the image after saving.
Firefox: capture the full page, then export JPEG
Firefox’s documented built-in screenshot tool downloads a PNG. The reliable JPEG workflow is therefore a two-step process.

- Open the page in Firefox and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Right-click (or Control-click on macOS) an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- In the screenshot toolbar, choose Save full page. Choose Save visible only when you want the current viewport.
- Select Download. Firefox documents the downloaded image as a PNG file.
- Open the PNG in an image editor, choose Export or Save As, select JPEG/JPG, set the quality you need, and save a new copy.
Mozilla’s instructions are available in its Firefox screenshot help. Keep the original PNG if you may need a lossless version later; JPEG conversion is best treated as a separate output.
Firefox Developer Tools alternative
Firefox Developer Tools can also create a full-page screenshot. Open Developer Tools, open its settings, and under Available Toolbox Buttons enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. The Web Console’s :screenshot helper supports the --fullpage option. Firefox’s developer documentation describes PNG output in both cases; convert that PNG to JPEG afterward. See the Firefox Source Docs screenshot guide for the current controls.
Microsoft Edge: use Web Capture
Edge includes a full-page capture feature called Web capture. Microsoft’s guide does not specify whether the resulting file is JPEG or PNG, and the exact save behavior can vary by Edge version and operating system.
- Open the page in Edge.
- Open the three-dot menu and choose Web capture, or press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Review the captured image, then save it to your device.
- Check the extension and open the file in an image editor. If it is not JPEG, export it as JPEG.
Use Microsoft’s Web Capture guide for the current menu wording. Do not assume that every Edge installation directly saves a JPG.

Chrome: do not confuse page saving, PDF printing, and screenshots
Save Page As is not an image
Chrome’s More → More tools → Save Page As command saves webpage content and associated files. It is useful for offline access or archiving a page, but it does not create a JPEG screenshot. Chrome documents this feature in its download help.
Print to PDF is not a JPEG
Chrome’s print dialog can send a page to Save as PDF. A PDF may be preferable for printing, selectable text, or multi-page document preservation, but it is not a single JPEG image. See Google’s Chrome print help.
Use a screenshot extension when JPG export is required
Chrome does not provide a documented built-in full-page JPEG workflow in the help reviewed for this guide. The Chrome Web Store listing for GoFullPage describes full-page capture and records PNG or JPG download options in its changelog. Extension controls can change, so confirm the current format selector before relying on it.
- Install the extension from its current Chrome Web Store listing.
- Open the page and allow it to finish loading.
- Start the extension and choose its full-page capture command.
- When the result opens, select JPG/JPEG if that option is present, then download.
- Inspect the downloaded image for clipped sections, missing lazy images, or overlays.
Convert a PNG screenshot to JPEG
Conversion is useful whenever a browser produces PNG but your destination requires JPEG. JPEG is smaller for photographic content, but it is lossy: text edges, logos, and fine lines may show compression artifacts. Use a high quality setting and avoid repeatedly opening and re-saving the same JPEG.

- Choose File → Save as → JPEG picture.
- Give the copy a new filename and confirm the JPEG extension.
macOS
- Open the PNG in Preview.
- Choose File → Export.
- Set Format to JPEG, adjust quality, and export.
Linux and other editors
Use the editor’s export command and select JPEG/JPG. Keep the color profile and dimensions unless you have a specific size requirement. If the page is extremely tall, verify that your editor and destination support the image dimensions before exporting.
Make the capture represent the page you need
Wait for dynamic and lazy content
Scroll through the page once before capturing if images load only when they approach the viewport. Wait for charts, fonts, and client-rendered sections to finish. A screenshot taken too early can contain blank placeholders.
Handle consent banners, popups, and chat widgets
Dismiss overlays before capture when possible. A cookie banner or newsletter modal can cover content in every section of a full-page image. Some sites restore the overlay after navigation or reload, so check the top, middle, and bottom of the result.
Choose the right viewport
Responsive pages render differently at different widths. Resize the browser before capturing if you need a desktop or mobile layout. A full-page image preserves the chosen viewport width; it does not create separate desktop and phone versions.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, so you can request JPEG directly instead of manually stitching a page and converting a PNG. It can capture full pages with lazy images loaded, or one element by CSS selector, and supports device presets, custom viewports, retina scale, dark mode, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks, selector or network-idle waits, hidden selectors, request blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, caching with a chosen TTL, signed links, asynchronous jobs, webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify migration.

The image contains only the visible screen
You selected a viewport capture rather than a full-page command. In Firefox choose Save full page; in Edge choose Capture full page. In an extension, select its full-page mode.
The downloaded file is PNG, not JPEG
That is Firefox’s documented behavior. Open the PNG in an editor and export a JPEG. Check the extension or Edge save dialog instead of merely changing the filename extension; renaming .png to .jpg does not convert the data.

Images or sections are blank
Wait longer, scroll to trigger lazy loading, disable aggressive content blocking for the capture, and reload. If the page requires a click or sign-in, perform it before taking the screenshot.
A popup covers the page
Close cookie, newsletter, chat, and promotional overlays before capture. If an overlay returns after reload, capture the authenticated or consented state again and inspect several points along the image.
The page is cut off or stitched incorrectly
Try a current browser version, disable unusual zoom levels, and test without extensions that alter page layout. Sticky navigation, infinite scrolling, and pages that change height while loading are common causes. For automated work, wait for a selector or network idle and use a stable viewport.
The JPEG looks blurry
JPEG compression reduces sharpness around text and line art. Export at a higher quality, capture at a larger or retina scale, and keep the original PNG for archival use.
Which method should you choose?

| Repeatable, automated JPEG captures | ScreenshotNeo API or MCP server | Requires an API key and request setup |
FAQ
Can I save a webpage as JPEG without taking a screenshot?
No. A JPEG is a raster image of the rendered page, so you need a screenshot or rendering service; saving the webpage itself creates files, not a flattened JPEG.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Is JPG different from JPEG?
No. JPG and JPEG are filename extensions for the same image format.
Can a full-page JPEG include content behind a login?
Only when the capture runs in an authenticated session. A normal browser screenshot captures what your current session can view; automated services need the appropriate cookies, headers, or authorization configuration.
