Chrome’s print command saves the page currently open. Acrobat desktop can crawl linked pages at a chosen depth—or request Get entire site—and restrict the crawl to the same path or server. If you need a browsable offline copy rather than a PDF, HTTrack mirrors the site instead.
Choose the output before you start

These are different deliverables. A “whole website” PDF may become very large, change as pages load, and include pages you did not intend if the crawl is unrestricted. Define the domain, path, depth, and pages you are allowed to copy before running a capture.
Convert linked pages with Acrobat desktop
Adobe’s desktop web-capture workflow (help page updated September 23, 2025) is the documented option here that can follow a site’s links and combine the results into a PDF. Adobe says the desktop workflow provides more control than its browser extension, which converts an open page.
Step-by-step
- Open Acrobat desktop.
- Choose Create, then Web page.
- Enter the starting URL, or select a local HTML file.
- Select Capture multiple levels.
- Choose a specific number of levels, or select Get entire site.
- For a bounded crawl, enable Stay on same path to keep subordinate URLs under the starting path, and/or Stay on same server to exclude external domains.
- Review the advanced conversion settings that apply to your document, then select Create.
Start with a limited depth and the same-server restriction when you are unsure of the site’s structure. “Entire site” can include substantially more material than the page you began with, especially where navigation links point to documentation, media, or other sections.

How levels affect the result
The starting URL is the first level. Additional levels follow links discovered on captured pages. A shallow setting is useful for a section or small documentation tree; Get entire site requests an unrestricted site capture within the scope controls you selected. The exact volume depends on the links exposed by the site, not on a guaranteed page count.
When Acrobat is the wrong fit
- Use Chrome when you only need the current page.
- Use HTTrack when navigation and local browsing matter more than a single PDF.
- Use an automated capture service when you need repeatable jobs, scripted URLs, or an API rather than an interactive desktop run.
Save one page as a PDF with Chrome
Chrome’s official print workflow applies to the page, image, or file currently open. It does not describe following site links.
Windows and Linux desktop
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P.
- Select the PDF destination (for example, a system “Save as PDF” printer), set paper and layout options, and save the file.
Mac desktop
- Open the page.
- Choose File > Print, or press Command+P.
- Choose the PDF save option in the system print dialog and save.
Android
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- Select Save as PDF, choose the destination, and save.
For a long article, wait until the page has finished loading and expand any sections you want included before printing. This still produces one-page output, not a linked-site crawl.
Use HTTrack when you need an offline website
HTTrack downloads a website to disk, preserves resources, and rewrites links so you can browse the copy without an internet connection. It offers graphical and command-line interfaces, can resume an interrupted download, and can update an existing mirror.

That mirror is not automatically a PDF. If a PDF is required, you would need to open selected local pages and print or convert them separately, which changes the task from “one whole-site PDF” to a set of documents.
HTTrack’s command-line documentation says its default behavior obeys robots.txt. Keep the default restrictions and configure crawler scope and filters rather than attempting to bypass a site’s rules. Check the site’s terms and copyright permissions before copying material.

The PDF contains only the landing page
You used Chrome print-to-PDF, which handles the open page only. Use Acrobat’s Capture multiple levels, or build a URL list for an API workflow.

The Acrobat capture is much larger than expected
“Get entire site” follows the available links. Repeat the capture with a fixed level count, enable Stay on same path, and enable Stay on same server when external domains are out of scope.
Images or interactive content are missing
Wait for the page to finish loading before printing. For automated capture, use a wait-for-selector, delay, or network-idle condition and enable full-page capture so lazy images can load. Some content depends on login, cookies, geolocation, or JavaScript state; supply the required request context only when you are authorized to do so.
The site never finishes or returns an error
Reduce crawl depth, narrow the path, and test a single URL first. For API calls, use a sufficiently long client timeout, inspect the HTTP status and X-Page-Verdict/X-Billed headers, and retry transient failures. A bot check, blank page, timeout, or failed load is identified as a non-clean result and is not billed by ScreenshotNeo.

Stop the mirror and review the site’s terms, permissions, and robots.txt. HTTrack’s documented default is to obey robots.txt; do not configure it to bypass those restrictions.

- A complete browsable copy: HTTrack, accepting that the output is a mirror, not a PDF.

FAQ
Can a browser’s Save as PDF automatically include every page on a domain?
No. The documented Chrome workflow saves the currently open page, image, or file. Following linked pages requires a site-capture tool or a separate crawl.
What does “same path” mean in Acrobat?
It limits a multi-level capture to subordinate URLs under the starting path, preventing unrelated sections of the same server from being included.
Is an HTTrack mirror suitable as a legal archival PDF?
Not by itself. HTTrack creates local, browsable files. For an archival PDF, use a PDF-producing workflow and confirm that copying and distribution are permitted.
