Take a normal website screenshot
- Open the website in your browser.
- Position the page exactly as you want it captured.
- Press Power and Volume Down simultaneously.
- Wait for the preview or screenshot toolbar to appear. From there you can edit, share or start a longer capture.
The shortcut captures the current viewport, including anything visible in the browser window. It does not automatically include content below the fold.
If the buttons are difficult to press together, Android Help documents an alternative on some phones: press and hold Power, then tap Screenshot. Menu wording and availability vary by manufacturer. If neither method works, use the support instructions for your phone model. See Google’s Android screenshot guide.
Capture a full or scrolling webpage with Android
Android’s built-in scrolling capture is the fastest way to save a long page as one image, but it is not universal. Google documents the workflow for devices running Android 12 and later, on most screens that allow scrolling.

- Open the webpage and press Power + Volume Down.
- When the screenshot controls appear, tap Capture more.
- Drag the crop handles or guides to include the section you need.
- Tap the save, confirm or finish control shown by your phone.
If Capture more is missing, the device, app or page may not support scrolling capture. A page can scroll normally yet still be unable to produce one continuous screenshot; browser controls, embedded documents and security-restricted views are common examples. Take several regular screenshots or use Chrome’s separate long-screenshot workflow instead.
What Android 12 compatibility means
The Android 12-and-later statement is Google’s documented scope, not a guarantee for every handset. Manufacturers can change the toolbar, rename buttons or omit the feature. Some apps deliberately disable scrolling screenshots, and very dynamic pages may change while Android is stitching them together. Check the resulting image for repeated, missing or shifted content before sharing it.
Use Chrome’s Long screenshot command
Chrome for Android offers a browser-specific route that is separate from Android’s Capture more control. Google documents it without stating an Android-version requirement on the instructions page.

- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu) beside the address bar.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles over the part of the page to keep.
- Tap Confirm, then save the image or share it with another app.
This method is useful when the standard screenshot toolbar does not show Capture more. It is available only for pages Chrome can process through its share flow; an embedded viewer, a restricted page or an updated Chrome build may present different options. The documented steps are in Chrome Help.
Pixel-specific alternatives
Pixel phones provide additional ways to capture the current app or page. Open Overview (the recent-apps screen), select the app card and tap Screenshot. You can also ask the assistant, “Hey Google, take a screenshot.” Pixel’s scrolling capture follows the Android 12-and-later, scrollable-screen limitation described above. The exact buttons depend on your navigation mode and Pixel software version. See Pixel Phone Help.

Find, edit and share the screenshot
On many Android phones, open Google Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots. Phones without Photos may place captures in the Gallery app’s Screenshots folder. Google notes that folder names can differ by device.

Crop and annotate
Open the image from the screenshot preview or your gallery, then use the edit tools to crop browser chrome, draw arrows, add text or redact personal information. For a scrolling image, inspect the joins at the top and bottom before cropping; removing a seam can hide a missing section.
Share safely
Use the share button in the preview, Photos or Gallery to send the file to email, messaging or cloud storage. Check the address bar, account names, notifications and any private page content before posting publicly. A screenshot is a static copy, so links and interactive controls inside it will not work.

The button shortcut does nothing
- Press both buttons at exactly the same time rather than holding one first.
- Try the Power-menu method: hold Power, then tap Screenshot, if your phone offers it.
- Remove a thick case that prevents either button from traveling fully.
- Restart the phone and check the manufacturer’s support page for a customized shortcut.
Capture more is not displayed
- Confirm the phone runs Android 12 or later.
- Try the page in Chrome or another standard browser instead of an embedded in-app browser.
- Scroll the page once, wait for images to load, and capture again.
- If the app blocks the feature, use several viewport screenshots or Chrome’s Long screenshot.
The long image is incomplete or duplicated
- Wait for lazy-loaded images, ads or fonts to finish before starting.
- Close cookie prompts, chat bubbles and sticky bars that move between segments.
- Keep the page at a stable zoom level and avoid touching the screen while stitching runs.
- Capture a shorter range and combine the images manually when a very long page exceeds the device’s limits.
The screenshot is black or blocked
Some banking, streaming and managed-work-profile apps prevent screen capture for security. Android may show a blank or black result. Respect that restriction; do not attempt to bypass it. For a public webpage, open the URL directly in Chrome and capture the browser view instead.

The result is too small to read
Use a scrolling capture for a longer layout, rotate to landscape before capturing, or increase the browser zoom temporarily. Increasing zoom can cause more stitching seams, so verify the final image. If you need a precise desktop-sized render rather than a phone view, use a server-side screenshot service.

Practical reliability and cost notes
- Phone screenshots are immediate and free, but depend on the handset, app and page supporting the requested capture.
- Scrolling captures consume more storage and may expose stitching defects on animated or continuously loading pages.
- For repeatable documentation, automation or many URLs, an API can standardize viewport, wait conditions, cleanup and output format.
