There is no universal winner between Oxylabs and Bright Data. Both offer proxy access and managed web data collection products, but the right choice depends on whether you need raw proxy connections or a service that handles more of retrieval and extraction; which IP types, locations, and session behavior your workload needs; and how each product bills your specific usage. Compare equivalent workflows and test the actual target sites before committing.
Oxylabs vs. Bright Data at a glance
| Decision point | Oxylabs | Bright Data |
|---|---|---|
| Proxy products identified in the reviewed product catalogs | Residential, ISP, and mobile proxies; the pricing page also lists SOCKS5 and datacenter products. | Datacenter, static residential/ISP, residential, and mobile IP networks. |
| Managed collection and related products identified | Web Scraper API, headless browser, OxyCopilot, and additional data services. | Web Scraper API, Scraper Studio, Scraping Browser, SERP API, Web Unlocker, and datasets. |
| Published pricing evidence | Its pricing page lists Residential Proxies starting at $6/GB and Web Scraper API starting at $49/month. These are vendor-published starting prices, not a workload-specific quote. | Its residential proxy pricing FAQ says pay-as-you-go is available for datacenter, residential, ISP, and mobile proxies, as well as Web Unlocker, self-service Web Scraper IDEs, and SERP API. That does not establish a specific price for a particular workload. |
| Billing evidence for a managed scraper | Documented Web Scraper API allowances vary by target and rendering. The documented Micro plan example gives different result allowances for Amazon and Google. | The reviewed public material does not establish a directly comparable allowance for a particular target and plan. |
| Residential/mobile onboarding | Confirm requirements for the specific product and account with the provider. | Bright Data says residential and mobile network users go through a compliance process. Check the requirements for the exact product and account type. |
These are catalog and pricing descriptions from the vendors, not a matched independent performance comparison. Product availability alone does not show equal site coverage, extraction quality, or success on your targets.
First decide: proxies or managed extraction?
Choose proxy access when you want to operate the collection stack
A proxy service supplies network access for software you operate. Your team remains responsible for how it discovers and requests pages, handles JavaScript rendering, parses the returned content, retries failures, manages sessions, and monitors the pipeline. This route gives you control over those choices, but it also means more implementation and maintenance work.
Before comparing proxy plans, specify the IP type and location your application needs, whether requests should rotate addresses or maintain persistent sessions, and the sites and use cases you are permitted to access. A broad claim about a provider’s pool does not answer whether your particular workflow will work.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors#1 Best Overall
Choose managed products when you want more of the retrieval workflow bundled
Managed extraction products can take on more of the request, unblocking, browser, or parsing workflow, depending on the product. Oxylabs describes its Web Scraper API as a subscription with result allowances that vary by target and rendering requirements. Bright Data’s catalog includes prebuilt scraper APIs, browser tooling, and web-unlocking products. Compare the exact product and output you would use, not just the companies’ umbrella catalogs.
Managed does not automatically mean that every target, field, or rendering requirement is covered. Verify the required target, response format, rendering mode, result definition, and failure handling in the product documentation or with the vendor.
Compare the parts that change the buying decision
Network type and geography
Match the IP type and location to the application and target. Bright Data describes datacenter, static residential/ISP, residential, and mobile networks; Oxylabs’ catalog includes residential, ISP, and mobile offerings, and its pricing page also lists datacenter and SOCKS5 products. Product names are not proof that the same geographic coverage, eligibility, or configuration is available for every plan. Confirm the specific locations and terms you need.
Rotation, persistence, and target fit
Work out whether your application needs rotating IPs, a persistent session, or a combination of both. Then evaluate the exact behavior on your intended sites and permitted use cases. The available comparison material does not establish a fair, independently controlled, target-by-target head-to-head trial, so it cannot support a blanket claim that one provider succeeds more often.
Rank #2
- Used Book in Good Condition
Do not rank vendor-reported pool sizes or success rates as if they came from the same independent measurement. Different vendors may describe different products, targets, periods, and test conditions. For a purchasing decision, run a controlled evaluation with the same target set, request volume, geography, session rules, and success definition for both candidates.
Rendering, parsing, and output
List what the collection must return: raw HTML, rendered page content, parsed records, search results, or a ready-made dataset. Also identify whether the target requires JavaScript rendering and whether your process needs a browser automation environment. The vendors’ catalogs include different combinations of these tools, but a catalog listing does not establish identical target coverage or output quality.
For a scraper API trial, define what counts as a successful result before you estimate volume. Check how the plan treats rendering, retries, system errors, and results for each target. Oxylabs’ documentation defines successful results and says system errors returning 5xx or 6xx are not billed; those terms should not be assumed to apply to another product or to Bright Data.
How pricing compares—and why one headline number misleads
Oxylabs’ official pricing page, reviewed on September 29, 2026, lists Residential Proxies starting from $6/GB and Web Scraper API starting from $49/month. They are starting prices for different products and billing models, not a like-for-like quote. Confirm the current offer and what the plan includes before budgeting.
Rank #3
Bright Data’s residential proxy pricing FAQ says pay-as-you-go is available for several proxy types and named managed products. This establishes billing availability, not an individual buyer’s final rate or total cost. No particular Bright Data price for a matching workload is established here.
Example: Oxylabs’ documented Micro plan allowances
Oxylabs’ billing documentation gives a Micro plan example of up to 98,000 Amazon results or 49,000 Google results. These are target-specific figures for that documented plan and its stated conditions. They do not establish equivalent Bright Data allowances or a general result rate for other targets.
Build a workload-specific cost estimate
- Choose the exact product category. Compare proxy access with proxy access, or a managed extraction product with a managed extraction product. Do not compare a per-gigabyte rate directly with a per-result subscription allowance.
- Estimate the work. Record target sites, monthly volume, geographic needs, session behavior, and whether rendering is required.
- Define billable outcomes. Check what counts as a request, result, successful result, or bandwidth unit, and how failures, retries, and system errors are treated.
- Check plan boundaries. Verify minimums, included limits, rendering conditions, overages, and any negotiated or enterprise terms with each vendor.
- Compare observed cost for the same test. Run the same representative workload against both candidates and apply each provider’s stated billing rules to the results.
Without a specified workload and comparable terms, the available public information does not establish a definitive total-cost winner. Prices and plan details can change; verify them with the vendors when purchasing.
Onboarding and responsible evaluation
Bright Data says that access to some residential and mobile networks involves a compliance process. Confirm the requirements for the precise product and account type you intend to use. Do not assume onboarding terms are identical at Oxylabs; check directly with both providers.

A practical way to choose
- Start with Oxylabs if its published starting prices or documented target-specific Web Scraper API allowance fit the product category you are evaluating. Treat those figures as vendor-published plan information, not proof that your workload will cost less.
- Evaluate Bright Data if its catalog’s combination of proxy networks, browser tooling, scraper APIs, web-unlocking products, or datasets aligns with your implementation needs. Confirm exact pricing and access conditions for the product you would actually use.
- Evaluate both when target reliability, total cost, or a specific geography is decisive. Use one agreed workload and success definition; available vendor claims are not a substitute for that matched test.
- Ask for product-level answers about target support, result definitions, rendering, sessions, location availability, failure billing, compliance review, and plan limits before signing up.
Where ScreenshotNeo fits—and where it does not
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a proxy network or a general-purpose web scraping replacement for Oxylabs or Bright Data. It is an alternative to try first if your actual need is capturing clean page screenshots or PDFs, rather than collecting structured records through proxy infrastructure. Its API can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; the product accepts cookie/consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, with each step configurable. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server exposes screenshot and PDF tools to AI agents. See ScreenshotNeo for product details.
One-call screenshot example
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the target URL as needed. The API documentation covers the request options and response behavior: ScreenshotNeo API docs.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Or skip the browser setup:
- Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot.
- Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed.
- An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots.
- 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
