Top AI Platforms to Build Apps On in 2026: A Practical Guide

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no single best AI platform for building apps in 2026. For a fast web MVP, start with Lovable; for an all-in-one browser workspace, consider Replit; for a React and Next.js team, look at v0 with Vercel; for native cross-platform mobile output, consider FlutterFlow. These tools solve different problems, so the right choice depends on what you need to ship, how much code you want to own, and what your app will cost to run after the prototype.

This guide separates prompt-to-app builders from backend services and enterprise model platforms, then compares their output, portability, cost signals, and limitations. Platform details and prices below reflect the cited vendor pages in the material available for this 2026 guide; dynamic prices and availability can change.

Quick answer: which AI app platform should you choose?

Platform Best fit Typical output Backend Portability Price signal in cited official material
Lovable Nontechnical founder building a polished web MVP Web app Connects to Supabase Generated code and GitHub workflow; portability depends on services used Credit-based; check current tiers at Lovable pricing
Replit Browser-based building, database, and deployment in one workspace Full-stack web app Built-in database capabilities Medium; platform services may complicate a move Starter free; Core $20/month and Pro $95/month when billed annually, as shown at Replit pricing
Bolt.new Fast browser-based prototype with editable files Web app Depends on the selected stack and integrations Medium; inspect dependencies and hosting Token-based; exact current dollar tier not established at Bolt pricing
v0 + Vercel React/Next.js teams shipping web apps Conventional web code and deployment Use a separate backend such as Supabase High relative to managed no-code runtimes, but runtime choices still matter Vercel Hobby $0 for personal, noncommercial use; Pro $20/month with $20 usage credit at Vercel pricing
Supabase Postgres backend, auth, storage, APIs, and vector search Backend, not a complete app builder Yes Relatively strong data portability because the core database is PostgreSQL Free tier; Pro from $25/month at Supabase pricing
FlutterFlow Visual cross-platform mobile development Flutter mobile, web, and desktop apps Integrates with Firebase and Supabase Source-code download available on paid tiers shown Free tier; Basic $39/month at FlutterFlow pricing
Bubble Managed, workflow-heavy no-code business apps Web and mobile products on Bubble’s managed runtime Managed platform database and logic Low compared with a conventional codebase Starter $59/month billed annually at Bubble pricing

For a model API or cloud AI service rather than an app builder, consider OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry. Those provide model capabilities and related cloud controls; they do not automatically supply a finished frontend, database, authentication, and deployment stack.

What “AI app platform” can mean

Prompt-to-app builders

Lovable, Replit, and Bolt.new can help turn natural-language instructions into working web application code and flows. Their main appeal is reducing setup and speeding up iteration. Treat the result as a starting codebase that needs review, not as proof that security, reliability, and operations are finished.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

AI-assisted coding and deployment stacks

v0 can generate React-oriented interfaces and applications, while Vercel supplies deployment and web infrastructure. A conventional codebase gives developers more direct control, but you still need to choose a database, authentication approach, monitoring, and other services.

Backend and no-code platforms

Supabase supplies backend building blocks such as Postgres, authentication, storage, APIs, and realtime features. Bubble is different: it is a managed no-code runtime for building applications through visual workflows, rather than a typical code generator with an easy independent runtime.

Model and enterprise AI platforms

OpenAI’s API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry provide model access and, depending on the platform, enterprise-oriented tooling. They are ingredients in an app architecture, not direct replacements for an app builder. See the OpenAI API documentation, Amazon Bedrock documentation, Vertex AI documentation, and Microsoft Foundry documentation.

Best platforms by use case

Lovable: fast web MVPs for founders

Lovable is a strong candidate when a founder or product team wants to describe a web app, refine its interface conversationally, connect a backend, and share a working MVP. It is best understood as a rapid web development environment—not a native mobile-app builder or a substitute for engineering ownership.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its Supabase integration and GitHub/code workflow can create a path from prototype toward a conventional development handoff. Lovable says users own their generated code, projects, customer data stored in Lovable, and AI output, subject to third-party rights in underlying models. That ownership does not by itself guarantee that the app is easy to run elsewhere: inspect dependencies, environment variables, database design, and deployment configuration before relying on an exit path. See the Lovable documentation and integration documentation.

  • Choose it for: SaaS MVPs, internal tools, dashboards, and validation builds.
  • Watch: credit use can make intensive iteration cost more than the subscription alone, and generated code needs testing and security review.
  • Likely companion: Supabase for a relational backend and authentication.

Replit: an integrated browser workspace

Replit brings an online development environment, AI agents, database capabilities, collaboration, and deployment into a browser-based workspace. It suits people who value an integrated path from code to hosted project more than assembling separate services.

The official pricing page lists Starter as free, with daily Agent credits, a built-in database, and publishing for up to one project. Core is shown at $20/month and Pro at $95/month when billed annually; their included credits and collaboration limits differ. These are plan signals, not a forecast of your total bill: AI credits, compute, storage, and deployment usage may add costs. Consult Replit documentation and its deployment documentation.

  • Choose it for: browser-first learning, collaborative prototypes, and teams that want development and deployment together.
  • Watch: relying on platform-specific services can make migration harder. Check Git access, database export, environment-variable handling, and deployment options early.
  • First cost question: estimate both AI usage and the compute needed to keep the deployed app running.

Bolt.new: fast, editable browser prototypes

Bolt.new combines prompt-driven development, a live preview, and an editable project filesystem in the browser. It is useful for generating a first version quickly, comparing interface directions, or starting a web project without local setup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bolt says usage is token-based and larger projects consume more tokens because more of the project filesystem may need to be synchronized with the AI. Paid team members receive individual monthly token allotments rather than drawing from one shared pool. The cited official material does not establish a stable current dollar price, so check Bolt’s pricing page rather than budgeting from an outdated number. See Bolt support documentation.

  • Choose it for: demos, early SaaS interfaces, and developers who want a generated starting point they can continue elsewhere.
  • Watch: a growing project can make AI interactions more expensive, while generated code may need cleanup and tests.
  • Before scaling: confirm where the app runs, how its backend is secured, and how the project and data can be exported.

v0 with Vercel: a natural fit for React and Next.js teams

v0 is most useful as an interface and application-generation layer in a React/Next.js workflow. Vercel provides deployment, hosting, CDN, functions, and related infrastructure. For teams already using GitHub and Next.js, this combination can preserve a familiar code-based development process while accelerating UI work. See v0, the AI SDK, and Vercel AI documentation.

The cited Vercel pricing page lists Hobby at $0/month for personal, noncommercial use and Pro at $20/month with $20 in usage credit. Pro usage can continue on a pay-as-you-go basis after included credits. Do not use Hobby as the commercial-production plan: Vercel describes it as intended for personal, noncommercial use. The app may also incur separate costs for bandwidth, functions, storage, logs, image optimization, and model usage.

  • Choose it for: React/Next.js teams, preview deployments, and web apps that need a conventional codebase.
  • Watch: Vercel is not a complete database, authentication, and business-logic system by itself.
  • Likely companion: Supabase or another backend selected to match the app’s requirements.

Supabase: a backend companion, not a prompt-to-app builder

Supabase is built around managed Postgres and adds authentication, storage, APIs, realtime features, and database extensions used in AI applications, including vector search. It is a practical backend choice for a custom app or one generated with Lovable or Bolt, but it will not create the whole frontend for you.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The official pricing page lists a free plan, Pro from $25/month, Team from $599/month, and custom Enterprise pricing. The displayed Pro plan includes 100,000 monthly active users, 8 GB of disk per project, 250 GB of egress, 100 GB of file storage, daily backups retained for seven days, and seven-day log retention. It also includes $10/month in compute credits, shown as enough for one Micro instance under the displayed calculation; additional projects start at $10/month. These allowances and prices come from the cited plan information and should be verified on Supabase pricing.

Supabase’s SQL foundation is useful for portability, but it does not remove the need to configure database security. Review its documentation and AI and vector documentation.

  • Choose it for: apps that need relational data, authentication, file storage, APIs, or vector retrieval.
  • Watch: compute, egress, storage, and additional projects can affect cost; model inference is billed separately by the chosen provider.
  • First security task: verify authorization and row-level security rather than assuming a working UI means data is protected.

FlutterFlow: visual development for mobile output

FlutterFlow is the clearest choice in this shortlist when the target is an iOS or Android application, rather than a responsive website. It can target mobile, web, and desktop, integrates with Firebase and Supabase, and offers Flutter source-code download on paid plans.

The pricing page shows a free tier, Basic at $39/month, Growth at $80/month for the first seat and $55 for the second, and Business at $150/month for the first seat and $85 for seats two through five. It advertises approximately 25% savings with annual billing. Basic includes source-code/APK download, custom-domain web publishing, local-device testing, and one-click app-store deployment, according to the cited plan information. Check FlutterFlow pricing and the FlutterFlow documentation for current limits.

  • Choose it for: cross-platform products, visual development, and projects where app-store delivery matters.
  • Watch: complex native features may need custom code; exported Flutter code can still require developer cleanup.
  • Plan for: signing, device testing, privacy disclosures, store review, release management, and any native plugins your app needs.

Bubble: managed no-code business applications

Bubble suits workflow-heavy products such as internal tools, admin dashboards, CRM-like apps, and form-driven business systems when the team prefers visual logic and a managed runtime over owning a conventional codebase.

The official page lists Starter at $59/month, Growth at $209/month, and Team at $549/month billed annually, with custom Enterprise pricing. Plans use workload units; Starter is shown with 175,000 units per month, a custom domain, a live website, and mobile-app capabilities. Verify plan details at Bubble pricing.

  • Choose it for: managed deployment and mature visual workflows where speed of business-process development matters.
  • Watch: Bubble is a platform commitment, not a conventional source-code export workflow. A move away generally means rebuilding, and workload-based billing can be difficult to forecast.
  • Avoid it when: independent hosting, cloud migration, or source-code portability is a strategic requirement.

Model platforms for teams that already have an app stack

OpenAI API

Choose the OpenAI API when your developers want to add OpenAI model capabilities directly to a custom application. Pricing is usage-based; hosting, database, authentication, security, and operations remain separate. Consult the OpenAI platform, API documentation, and API pricing.

Amazon Bedrock

Bedrock is a fit for AWS-oriented teams that want access to multiple models within their cloud environment and need to work with existing AWS identity, networking, procurement, and data services. Pricing varies by model, inference mode, and related services; estimating it requires workload assumptions. It is powerful but more operationally complex than a beginner app builder. See Bedrock, Bedrock pricing, and its documentation.

Google Vertex AI

Vertex AI is a candidate for Google Cloud teams building Gemini-based applications or using Google data, cloud services, and managed AI tooling. Its broad capabilities bring configuration complexity, and billing depends on model usage and other Google Cloud services. See Vertex AI, pricing, and documentation.

Microsoft Foundry

Microsoft Foundry is the current Azure direction for enterprise AI application and agent development in the cited materials. It is best suited to organizations already invested in Azure identity, networking, compliance, and procurement. Pricing is based on Azure consumption rather than a simple standalone subscription. Do not confuse it with Power Apps or GitHub Copilot, which serve different roles. See Microsoft Foundry pricing and product documentation.

Firebase Studio availability caveat

Firebase Studio should not be treated as a normal new-user recommendation. Google’s current documentation says new workspace creation and user signup are no longer supported, while existing workspaces can continue to be used and migrated. It also describes Firebase Studio as a Preview product; Preview products are not subject to an SLA or deprecation policy and may change incompatibly. Existing Firebase users can still consider Firebase services directly, while new Google-native projects can evaluate other available Google development and AI services. Check Google’s Firebase Studio documentation for the current status.

Web app, PWA, or native mobile app?

Do not equate a responsive website with a native mobile application. A responsive web app runs in a browser; a progressive web app adds installable browser features where supported; a wrapped website packages web content for distribution; Flutter output can produce cross-platform mobile apps. These differ in access to device APIs, offline behavior, push notifications, store distribution, and maintenance needs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • For a web-only MVP: consider Lovable, Bolt, Replit, or v0 with a deployment stack.
  • For a native or cross-platform mobile project: investigate FlutterFlow’s output and test needed camera, microphone, deep link, offline, background-task, and push-notification behavior.
  • For app-store delivery: budget for signing, privacy disclosures, review, crash monitoring, and repeat releases; a builder’s deployment button does not remove those responsibilities.

How to compare real cost, not just the plan price

A monthly subscription is only one line in the operating cost. Before committing, total the access fee, AI credits or tokens, model inference, hosting and compute, database, storage, egress or bandwidth, email, payment processing, and logging or observability. Find out whether credits reset, roll over, or are shared, and what happens after the included allowance.

Cost area Question to answer
Builder subscription Which features, seats, projects, and deployment rights are included?
AI generation Are credits or tokens included, and does a larger project consume more per interaction?
Model inference Is the model provider billed separately from the builder?
Hosting and compute Are runtime, serverless execution, and deployment included or usage-based?
Database and files What are the compute, storage, backup, and egress allowances?
Operations Do logs, monitoring, background jobs, email, or analytics add separate charges?

Likely cost cliffs differ by product: generation credits for intensive Lovable or Bolt iteration; Replit compute and deployment; Vercel usage beyond included credit; Supabase compute, egress, storage, or extra projects; Bubble workload units; and separate model inference on any stack. The cited figures are plan signals, not guarantees of a particular app’s monthly bill.

Production readiness: checks to complete before launch

A convincing demo is not evidence that an application is safe or ready for sustained use. Use this checklist before opening the app to customers:

  • Authorization: test every role and API route; verify row-level policies and ownership checks rather than trusting user-submitted record IDs.
  • Secrets: keep administrative credentials and private API keys out of browser code and generated client bundles.
  • Data handling: inspect what prompts, customer data, and logs are retained; confirm that retention, residency, and contractual terms meet your requirements.
  • Testing: define acceptance cases, test key user flows, and add automated tests where appropriate.
  • Database changes: document schema migrations and test them against a safe environment before production changes.
  • Operations: establish backups, error monitoring, rollback procedures, rate limits, and a plan for service failures.
  • Portability: verify source, database, files, domain, authentication, and environment configuration can be moved or independently backed up.
  • Enterprise requirements: confirm SSO, audit logs, data residency, private networking, support commitments, and any required compliance terms directly with the vendor.

Do not infer enterprise security from the words “AI” or “cloud.” Generated code still needs review, and an app that works for its creator may expose data when used by another account.

How to choose in five minutes

  1. Need a web MVP with little setup? Start with Lovable; pair it with Supabase if you need a Postgres backend.
  2. Want one browser workspace for code and hosting? Try Replit, then check the portability and usage costs of its services.
  3. Need a rapid editable prototype? Try Bolt.new, while tracking token use as the project grows.
  4. Already building with React or Next.js? Use v0 for generation and Vercel for deployment; add a backend deliberately.
  5. Need a mobile app-store build? Evaluate FlutterFlow and validate device-specific features before committing.
  6. Prefer a managed visual workflow system? Consider Bubble only if its runtime and portability trade-offs fit.
  7. Already have developers and need model access or cloud governance? Compare OpenAI API, Bedrock, Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry against your existing cloud and procurement requirements.

Screenshot capture for AI-built apps

When documenting generated interfaces, checking visual changes, or building an application that captures web pages, screenshots are another piece of the stack. ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: it removes consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. It is a screenshot API and MCP server, not an app builder, so use it alongside the platform that builds and hosts your app. Learn more at ScreenshotNeo.

Or skip the browser setup

Send one GET request with the page URL to receive a screenshot. The example below saves a WebP capture of the deployed app; replace the target with your own URL and supply your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
  • Cookie banners are accepted and more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets can be removed before capture; each step can be turned off.
  • Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing; response headers indicate the page verdict and whether the shot was billed.
  • An MCP server lets AI agents, including Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients, use screenshot tools.
  • The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month with no card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an AI app builder make a production-ready app without a developer?

It can produce a useful starting application, but production readiness depends on the app’s security, testing, data handling, deployment, and operations. A generated interface alone does not establish those controls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are Lovable, Bolt.new, and v0 native mobile app builders?

They are primarily web-first tools. For cross-platform Flutter output and mobile-oriented workflows, FlutterFlow is the more relevant option in this comparison.

Can I use ScreenshotNeo to build an app?

No. ScreenshotNeo captures web pages as screenshots or PDFs through an API and MCP server; it complements an app-building platform rather than replacing one.
