The $59.76 figure matches $2.49 multiplied by 24 months. Contemporary reports from Cyber Advice, AppleInsider and PCWorld reported those terms. The dollar amount was a reported US price; taxes, currency, region and account status could change the checkout total.
When the promotion ran—and why it is unavailable now
The campaign appeared during November 2025 and the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period. Contemporary coverage identified December 1, 2025, as the principal end date, with some references mentioning availability through December 3. Proton’s current Black Friday page confirms that the promotion is over and points readers toward the next seasonal period. As of August 18, 2026, old deal pages and coupon codes should not be treated as active offers.
What “up to 75% off” actually meant
The percentage compared a long-term plan’s effective monthly rate with Proton’s standard monthly pricing. You paid for the entire 24-month term at checkout; you did not receive 24 separate $2.49 invoices. Other Proton products and billing terms could have had different discounts, so the 75% claim should not be applied to Proton Unlimited or every subscription option.

Eligibility and coupon-code confusion

Renewal is the biggest post-purchase risk
The introductory $59.76 price did not establish a $2.49 renewal price. Promotional and renewal structures have differed across Proton campaigns. After purchasing a future deal, save the confirmation, record the renewal date and displayed renewal amount, and disable automatic renewal if you do not want another charge. Cancellation normally stops renewal rather than immediately removing prepaid access; confirm the account’s wording.
Refunds and the 30-day guarantee
Proton describes a 30-day money-back guarantee for paid plans. The subscription is still charged upfront, and you generally must cancel and request the refund within the applicable 30-day window. Review Proton’s current instructions and the purchase channel: app-store transactions can follow different refund procedures. A money-back guarantee is not the same as a card-free trial.

Was it good value?
For someone who wanted Proton VPN for two years, could pay upfront and valued Proton’s privacy-focused ecosystem, $59.76 was a notably low reported rate. VPN Plus also offered multiple-device coverage and features beyond the restricted free tier.
It was a poor fit for someone wanting month-to-month billing, short-term travel use, a dedicated IP, business administration, a particular router or protocol configuration, or guaranteed access to a specific streaming library. Buying solely because the percentage sounded large could leave you with an unwanted two-year commitment.
What to do now
Do not use “Proton VPN Black Friday 2025” pages or old codes as though the sale were live. Check Proton’s current pricing for an active promotion, and use the official Black Friday page when the next seasonal campaign begins. Compare the full upfront charge, eligibility after login and renewal terms—not just the monthly-equivalent headline.
