No. AFEELA 1 reservations historically opened in California on January 6, 2025, with a fully refundable $200 fee. Sony and Honda announced on March 25, 2026 that they were discontinuing development and launch plans for AFEELA 1 and its planned second model. As of August 18, 2026, there is no official pre-registration, purchase, or delivery path for a new AFEELA 1.
What AFEELA 1 was
AFEELA was the vehicle brand created by Sony Honda Mobility, the joint venture between Sony Group and Honda. Its first planned production vehicle was officially named AFEELA 1; “PlayStation car” was an informal media label, not the model’s name.
The concept focused on software, connected services, entertainment, displays, and driver-assistance technology rather than being sold as a conventional Honda-branded EV. Sony Honda Mobility’s former product page is still useful for historical context, but it is not evidence of a live sales program: AFEELA 1 product page.
When reservations were available
The original program was an online reservation, not a completed purchase order. Sony Honda Mobility opened it through the AFEELA website on January 6, 2025, initially for customers in California.

- Planned timing: official California sales and deliveries were anticipated to begin in mid-2026.
The historical announcement is documented in Sony Honda Mobility’s January 6, 2025 release: AFEELA 1 reservation and pricing announcement. Because the model was later canceled, “pre-order” references in older articles now describe a discontinued program.
Historical price and trims
AFEELA 1 was announced with two planned trims and a starting price of $89,900. The announcement also described certain functionality and features as including a complementary three-year subscription. Contemporary coverage identified the higher-priced Signature trim as the version expected first, with the less expensive Origin trim associated with later availability.
These were announced plans, not a current MSRP or offer. There is no valid price for ordering an AFEELA 1 today. Historical trim and pricing context is available from Car and Driver.
What “PlayStation car” meant
The nickname referred to planned in-car entertainment and software integration, including PlayStation-related experiences delivered through the vehicle’s displays and connectivity. It did not mean that PlayStation manufactured the vehicle or that every car would contain a standard built-in PS5 console.

Why Sony and Honda canceled AFEELA
On March 25, 2026, Sony and Honda announced that they would discontinue development and launch of AFEELA 1 and the planned second model. Their joint statement said Honda had reassessed its automobile-electrification strategy and changed assumptions behind Sony Honda Mobility’s operations, including the use of certain Honda technologies and assets. The companies also cited changes in the EV market.
The announcement did not identify a single technical defect or safety problem as the cause. On April 21, 2026, Sony, Honda, and Sony Honda Mobility added that, under the existing framework, it would be difficult to bring products and services consistent with the joint venture’s founding purpose to market in the short to medium term.

Did AFEELA reach production?
No evidence in the cited official material shows that customer deliveries began. Sony Honda Mobility reported trial production runs at Honda’s East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio in fall 2025 and displayed pre-production vehicles at CES 2026. Those activities indicate development progress, not completed retail production or customer delivery.
The CES 2026 release describing those vehicles and trial runs is available at Sony Honda Mobility’s CES 2026 announcement.

The reservation program no longer represents an active path to purchase. Reports at the time of cancellation said Sony Honda Mobility would issue full refunds to California reservation holders. If you made a reservation, rely on direct communication from Sony Honda Mobility and the contact information in your original confirmation or official correspondence; do not pay a new fee to a third party.
A $200 reservation was a refundable reservation fee, not a vehicle purchase contract, guaranteed delivery date, finalized production specification, or financing commitment. The official AFEELA site carries the discontinuation notice: AFEELA official site. Refund reporting is also covered by TechRadar.

How to spot outdated or unofficial AFEELA offers
Old reservation pages
A page that still shows the 2025 $200 reservation flow may be archived or incomplete. Check for the March 25, 2026 discontinuation notice before entering personal information, and do not assume that a form creates a valid order.
Marketplace listings
A listing claiming immediate AFEELA 1 availability would require exceptional proof. The model was canceled before normal customer deliveries, so used-car advertisements, reservation transfers, deposits, and “waitlist” services should be treated skeptically.
Articles using “pre-order” language
Older stories may use “pre-order” loosely. The original offer was a geographically limited, refundable reservation and did not guarantee production or delivery. Such wording is historical unless tied to a newer official announcement.

What is not available to evaluate
Because AFEELA 1 was not broadly delivered, there is no responsible retail ownership record for real-world range, charging performance, reliability, long-term software support, subscription value, or customer service. Performance and feature claims should therefore be described as planned specifications, not ownership-tested results.
