DXOMARK gave the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G an overall camera score of 103 in its Camera v5 test, published January 22, 2025. The result points to a capable main camera for everyday and daylight photos, with weaker autofocus consistency, low-light video and zoom. Check the exact regional model before applying the findings: the test describes a 200MP main, 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro setup, while Xiaomi’s India product page lists a 50MP telephoto camera instead.
Redmi Note 14 Pro+ DXOMARK camera score
These are the scores reported in DXOMARK’s Camera v5 test. The overall score is not a photo-only rating; it reflects photo, zoom and video performance.
| Category | Score |
|---|---|
| Overall camera | 103 |
| Photo | 111 |
| Video | 90 |
| Main | 124 |
| Bokeh | 145 |
| Ultra-wide | 119 |
| Zoom | 84 |
| Tele | 67 |
The test was published January 22, 2025, using DXOMARK Camera v5. Scores from Camera v5 and Camera v6 use different methodologies and scoring structures, so do not treat a v5 score as a directly comparable measure against a v6 result. DXOMARK’s smartphone rankings can also change; a ranking position is less durable than the test score and protocol.
Which camera hardware did DXOMARK test?
DXOMARK identifies the tested rear-camera setup as a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.65 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), alongside an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera. The test is about that configuration, not a guarantee that every phone sold under the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G name has the same hardware.

Regional listings differ. For example, Xiaomi’s India product page describes a 50MP telephoto camera with 2.5× optical zoom and up to 30× hybrid zoom, unlike the DXOMARK-tested 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro arrangement. Xiaomi’s Kenya specifications page lists the 200MP, 8MP and 2MP setup and rear video recording up to 4K at 24/30fps and 1080p at 30/60fps. Those specifications and availability apply to their respective markets.
Before using the test to judge a phone you plan to buy, compare the retailer listing and the device’s exact model number with the camera layout for your market. Do not combine the India telephoto specifications with DXOMARK’s score as though they describe one tested camera system.
How good are its photos?
DXOMARK found the tested phone generally strong for exposure, color and detail in bright and indoor conditions. Its photos can have good target exposure and broad dynamic range, with natural-looking color—particularly outdoors—and controlled noise in many scenes. The dedicated ultra-wide camera can also retain good detail in favorable light.

Exposure, color and detail
For everyday stills, these strengths make the phone a reasonable choice for landscapes, travel snapshots and posed subjects in good light. They do not mean every difficult scene will come out consistently: HDR conditions can expose weaknesses in both exposure and autofocus, while low-light stills may show white-balance casts. DXOMARK also observed occasional ghosting, ringing and lens flare.
Autofocus and HDR scenes
Autofocus instability matters most when the subject or camera is moving, or when a high-contrast scene requires quick adjustment. Children, pets, street moments and backlit subjects are less predictable than stationary subjects in even lighting. OIS can help reduce blur caused by the photographer’s hand moving; it cannot freeze a moving subject or correct every focus error.
Portraits and low light
The high Bokeh score of 145 does not mean portrait cutouts are flawless. DXOMARK noted segmentation artifacts around subjects, which can be noticeable around complex edges such as hair or foliage. In low light, check color consistency as well as detail: white-balance casts can make an otherwise usable exposure look unnatural.

Why 200MP is not the whole story
The 200MP figure describes the main sensor’s resolution, not the quality of every image or the reach of the zoom camera. Results also depend on the lens, autofocus, stabilization and image processing, as well as light and subject movement. DXOMARK’s findings show a capable main camera, but not uniformly strong performance across every camera task.
How good are zoom photos?
DXOMARK assigned the tested configuration a zoom score of 84 and a Tele score of 67, and reported low detail in telephoto renderings. Its described hardware has no dedicated telephoto lens, so this result should not be read as an assessment of a true optical telephoto camera. Cropping or computational zoom enlarges a view from the available camera data; it is not equivalent to a separate optical telephoto lens, especially for distant subjects.

The India-listed 50MP 2.5× telephoto version is a regional exception in the available specifications. Its hardware should be assessed on its own terms rather than inferred from the DXOMARK result for the different camera setup.

How good is video?
DXOMARK’s Video score was 90. In suitable conditions, it found good contrast, color and detail. The limitations matter more for motion and darker scenes: autofocus can be unstable, stabilization artifacts can appear—particularly while moving—and noise is visible indoors and in low light.
That makes casual daylight clips and relatively static scenes a more defensible use than action footage, moving subjects or night recording. A listed 4K recording mode, where available on a regional version, specifies resolution and frame rate; it does not guarantee clean low-light footage, reliable focus transitions or smooth stabilization.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does DXOMARK’s score measure?
DXOMARK says its smartphone-camera evaluations combine laboratory measurements with real-world testing, using default camera settings and both objective measurements and expert perceptual comparisons. Its assessment covers photo, zoom and video, including exposure, color, texture, noise, autofocus, artifacts and video behavior over time, such as stabilization and focus transitions.

- Photo tests use controlled and real-world scenes at roughly 1 to 1,000+ lux and color temperatures from 2,300K to 6,500K.
- Zoom evaluation covers more than 400 test images across controlled and natural scenes.
- Video evaluation covers more than 2.5 hours of footage across laboratory and real-world lighting conditions.
These procedures make the score useful for structured comparison, not a promise that every owner will get identical results. Camera-app updates, regional firmware, shooting modes, subject movement and personal preferences can affect what a user sees.
Should you buy the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ for its camera?
A good fit for everyday daylight photos
Consider it if your priority is a capable main camera for general snapshots, with good exposure, natural color and useful detail in daylight and indoor conditions. DXOMARK described the image quality as impressive for the phone’s price segment; that is a value-oriented judgment, not a claim that it matches flagship camera systems.
Think twice if you need dependable action or night video
Look elsewhere if reliable autofocus for children, pets or sports, consistently smooth moving footage, strong low-light video or detailed long-range zoom is essential. The test’s weaker areas are concentrated in precisely those situations.
Check the exact regional model
Confirm the camera layout and recording modes for the version sold in your market before relying on this test, particularly if a listing advertises a dedicated telephoto camera. For comparisons with other phones, prefer results produced under the same DXOMARK protocol rather than ranking positions that may mix Camera v5 and v6 scores.
