To save a new payment method in Brazil’s 99 passenger app, open Menu → Pagamento → Adicionar método de pagamento. Choose an option shown for your account, enter the requested details, complete any verification, and then check the saved methods list. App labels can differ slightly by version, device, language, account, or ride type.
Before you add a payment method
- Make sure you are signed in to the correct 99 passenger account.
- Have the card or payment-account details requested by the app available. For a card, this commonly includes the number, expiry date, security code, and possibly cardholder information.
- Use a reliable internet connection and be ready to approve a bank verification request.
- Only methods displayed in your app are available to your account and that context. Options can vary by city, account, product, and ride.
99’s passenger service is Brazil-focused. The public instructions do not specify one universal app version, so the wording may not match every Android or iPhone screen.
Add a card or another payment account
- Open the official 99 passenger app.
- Tap Menu.
- Tap Pagamento.
- Tap Adicionar método de pagamento.
- Choose an available option, such as a credit or debit card. PayPal is also referenced as a registrable option in 99’s official passenger information, but it is not necessarily offered to every account or ride: 99 passenger payment instructions.
- Enter the details requested on screen and complete any bank, PayPal, SMS, email, or other verification shown.
- Save or confirm the registration.
Return to Pagamento and open Métodos de Pagamento, if that section is shown. The new card or account should appear in the saved list. 99 does not document one universal “saved successfully” message, so its presence in that list is the practical confirmation.
If the menu uses different wording
Some versions take you directly to Pagamento → Métodos de Pagamento. Open that section and look for its add control. If neither option appears, return to the main 99 screen rather than looking inside 99Pay or another finance area.

Use the new method for a ride
Saving a payment method and selecting one for a ride are separate actions.
- Set your destination and begin requesting the ride.
- On the booking screen, tap the payment option displayed near the request controls.
- Select the saved card, PayPal account, or other method available for that ride.
- Before confirming, check that the intended method is visibly selected.
99’s passenger guidance treats this booking-screen selector as the place to change payment for a specific ride: 99 passenger payment instructions. Saving a card does not by itself establish that it will be usable for every 99 service or automatically become the default.

Add a second card
Repeat Menu → Pagamento → Adicionar método de pagamento. If the app shows the saved-methods page instead, open Métodos de Pagamento and use its add option. After saving, compare the last four digits or other identifying information shown in the list so you know which card to select at booking.
99’s public material does not state a universal maximum number of cards. Add only cards you control and verify the selected card before each ride.

Remove or replace an old card
- Open Pagamento → Métodos de Pagamento.
- Select the saved card or account you want to manage.
- Use the remove or delete control shown by your app. The exact button label is not specified in 99’s public help material.
99 confirms that cards can be added and deleted from this payment-method area: 99 help: correcting passenger data.
For an expired card, add the replacement first, confirm that it appears and can be selected for a ride, then remove the old card if the app permits. This avoids leaving yourself without a usable saved method.

When the payment method will not add
“Adicionar método de pagamento” is missing
- Return to the main passenger screen.
- Open Menu, then look for Pagamento or Métodos de Pagamento.
- Confirm that you are in the correct 99 account and not in a separate 99Pay area.
- Update 99 through your device’s official app store.
- Sign out and back in if the menu is incomplete.
- If the option still does not appear, use 99’s in-app support.
An update or reinstall may help with a temporary app problem, but neither is a guaranteed fix, and available methods can still differ by account or ride.
The card is rejected
- Recheck the number, expiry date, and security code.
- Confirm that the card is not expired, cancelled, or blocked.
- Ask the issuer whether online or app transactions are enabled.
- Check available credit or account balance.
- Look in the bank app for a declined or pending authorization.
- Read the exact error shown by 99 before retrying.
99 advises checking the displayed error when registration fails, but its public page does not provide a complete error-code list: 99 passenger payment instructions.

Verification does not arrive
- Check the bank app for an approval request.
- Confirm the phone number or email used for the verification.
- Check blocked SMS, spam, or email filters.
- Wait briefly and retry once rather than submitting repeated attempts.
- If the bank generated the error, contact the issuer; if 99 generated it, use 99 support.
The card is saved but unavailable for the ride
Open the payment selector on the booking screen and review the methods offered for that ride. A saved method may not be eligible for every 99 product, account, city, or payment context. Select another method displayed there if necessary. The 99 help center lists account payment management and ride payment changes as separate topics: 99 passenger help center.
The method was added to the wrong account
Payment details are associated with the account currently signed in. Check the profile or phone number before registering a card. If you cannot access the correct account, use 99’s official support channel instead of repeatedly adding the card to different accounts.
Cash, Pix, 99Pay, and other options
When you want cash, Pix, 99Pay, PayPal, or another option, choose it from the payment selector shown while requesting the ride. Do not assume that every option is available to every passenger or product; the app’s displayed list is the authoritative choice for that ride. 99’s help center separately addresses available payment methods and changing the method during a booking: 99 passenger help center.
