Motorola Edge 50 Fusion vs. Galaxy A55: Samsung Wins Performance, Motorola Wins Charging

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Short answer: the Galaxy A55 is the safer all-round choice for gaming, speaker volume, storage flexibility, and long-term ownership. The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion is more convenient if you value a lighter body, a brighter 144Hz curved display, IP68 protection, and much faster charging. Battery life and camera quality are not simple Edge victories: one comparative endurance test favors the A55, while camera results are close and use-case dependent.

What is being compared?

This comparison covers the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, generally sold with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, and the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1480. Both launched in 2024, but memory, storage, SIM, NFC, network bands, charger contents, colors, and warranty vary by country. Samsung product pages cited here are regional pages, not proof of uniform US availability in 2026. Check the exact model number before buying an imported, refurbished, or carrier-specific unit.

The phones were announced in March and spring 2024 respectively, with release timing differing by market. Historical launch prices of $349 for the Edge and $439 for the A55 are not current 2026 street prices.

Performance: Galaxy A55 is faster

The A55 has the stronger performance case. Aggregated benchmark submissions give it approximately 12% higher Geekbench 6 single-core performance, 15% higher multi-core performance, and 28% higher AnTuTu performance. Listed scores are 1,140 versus 1,014 in single-core Geekbench 6, 3,346 versus 2,922 in multi-core, and 1,031,048 versus 807,311 in AnTuTu for the A55 and Edge respectively. The same comparison shows a substantially larger A55 lead in its GPU compute result.

These are directional figures from different submissions, not a controlled laboratory run under identical temperature, firmware, RAM, and storage conditions. Still, the hardware gap points in the same direction.

Everyday use

Both phones should handle messaging, browsing, streaming, navigation, and social apps comfortably. In those tasks, the difference may be less obvious than benchmark charts suggest.

Gaming and multitasking

The A55 is the safer choice for demanding 3D games because its listed graphics performance is stronger. Game optimization, thermal throttling, refresh-rate settings, and regional RAM versions can narrow or widen the practical gap. A high-RAM Edge configuration may multitask better than a 6GB A55, so compare like-for-like versions.

The A55’s listed UFS 3.1 storage is also faster than the UFS 2.2 configuration reported for the Edge. Do not treat benchmark leadership as a guarantee of future smoothness: storage fullness, updates, heat, and app optimization matter.

Sound: louder speakers on the A55

Both phones offer stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos, and neither has a 3.5mm headphone jack. NanoReview lists maximum loudness of about 91.4dB for the A55 versus 81.7dB for the Edge, making Samsung the clear winner for volume in that dataset.

Those figures are third-party measurements, not a universal audio standard. Distance, test material, firmware, and whether peak or sustained output is measured can change the result. Loudness also does not establish better tonal balance, bass, distortion performance, or stereo width. For podcasts, calls, and outdoor video, the A55’s extra volume is useful. Serious music listening is better judged with headphones or an external speaker; Bluetooth behavior and codec support can vary by firmware and region.

  • Dual SIM Capability: This unlocked smartphone supports dual SIM cards, allowing you to conveniently manage personal and work lines.

Battery life versus charging speed

Both phones are rated at approximately 5,000mAh, but capacity does not equal runtime. The Edge’s defensible advantage is charging speed: up to 68W versus 25W for the A55. Samsung’s regional pages state that the 25W wall charger is sold separately, while Edge packages vary by market.

Rated capacity Approximately 5,000mAh Approximately 5,000mAh
Maximum wired charging 68W 25W
Comparative endurance result 23 hours 51 minutes 26 hours 41 minutes
Wireless charging Not a key feature of this comparison Not supported

In NanoReview’s comparative battery test, the A55 lasted about 12% longer: 26 hours 41 minutes versus 23 hours 51 minutes for the Edge. This is one test, not a promise of screen-on time. Brightness, cellular signal, refresh-rate mode, gaming, camera use, background apps, and software versions materially affect endurance.

Which battery advantage matters to you?

  • Need a quick top-up before leaving? Choose the Edge.
  • Want the longer result in that mixed-use test? Choose the A55.
  • Charge overnight? The A55’s slower 25W rate matters less.
  • Travel frequently? Confirm that the package includes a compatible charger; rated wattage does not guarantee that one is in the box.

Fast charging does not automatically prove shorter battery life or battery damage. Temperature, charging habits, and the phone’s thermal controls all matter.

Camera: close result, different strengths

Camera hardware Edge 50 Fusion Galaxy A55

Ultrawide 13MP with autofocus, approximately 120° field of view 12MP, approximately 123° field of view
Additional rear camera None listed 5MP macro

The Edge’s autofocus ultrawide is the more interesting piece of hardware. It can focus on closer subjects and support macro-style shots, whereas a fixed-focus ultrawide is less flexible. The A55’s 5MP macro camera adds a third lens, but lens count alone does not make it more useful.

NanoReview’s aggregate camera score gives the Edge 64 versus 59 for the A55. That score is approximate and is not a controlled side-by-side photo test. It cannot establish which phone is better in every light or guarantee that the Sony sensor produces better images.

What to evaluate in real photos

  • Daylight detail, sharpening, and HDR consistency
  • Skin tones, shadow retention, and night-mode processing
  • Moving-subject capture, autofocus reliability, and shutter lag
  • Ultrawide edge quality and close-focus usefulness
  • Portrait separation, video stabilization, and microphone processing

The A55 may appeal to users who prefer Samsung’s processing consistency, while the Edge may appeal to those who value its stabilized main camera and autofocus ultrawide. Without identical sample photos and firmware, camera quality is a close, preference-dependent category rather than a decisive Edge win.

Display, design, and durability

The Edge is lighter and more visually dramatic: its 6.7-inch pOLED panel reaches 144Hz and uses curved “endless edge” styling. The A55 has a 6.6-inch flat Super AMOLED display at up to 120Hz, with a glass back, metal frame, and Gorilla Glass Victus+.

The roughly 38g difference is noticeable in one-handed use. IP68 on the Edge is a higher laboratory water-and-dust-resistance rating than the A55’s IP67, but neither means waterproofing is permanent or that liquid damage is always covered. Drops, repairs, and wear can reduce resistance.

A curved screen can feel immersive but may cause accidental touches and make inexpensive protectors or cases harder to fit. A flat A55 panel is generally easier for gaming, typing, and screen protection. Higher refresh modes can also consume more power than 60Hz or adaptive settings.

Software and long-term ownership

Samsung launched the A55 with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, and its regional product pages publish update information. The exact remaining support period depends on the market and model. Motorola’s Edge 50 Fusion guide documents software-update settings, battery management, sound, camera, and troubleshooting, but it is not a complete promise of the phone’s remaining OS-support duration.

One UI offers Samsung’s ecosystem, feature depth, and clearly documented regional support. Motorola’s interface is closer to stock Android and may feel cleaner. Before purchase, check Android version, latest security-patch date, update policy for the exact SKU, preinstalled apps, and whether the unit is new or refurbished.

Storage, connectivity, and regional traps

  • The A55’s reported microSD support and Wi‑Fi 6 are useful ownership advantages, although microSD is slower than internal storage.
  • RAM, storage capacity, dual-SIM behavior, eSIM, NFC, and network bands vary by market.
  • Imported phones can have different warranty coverage, charger plugs, and carrier compatibility.
  • Do not compare an 8GB/256GB Edge with a 6GB/128GB A55 and generalize the result to every version.
  • Verify model number, storage, RAM, charger contents, and warranty at the retailer.

Which phone should you buy?

Choose the Galaxy A55 if you:

  • Play demanding games or want the stronger graphics benchmark profile.
  • Need louder built-in speakers.
  • Want microSD expansion and Wi‑Fi 6.
  • Prefer a flat display and a substantial glass-and-metal build.
  • Value Samsung’s software ecosystem and documented support.
  • Care more about tested endurance than rapid charging.

Choose the Edge 50 Fusion if you:

  • Want the fastest rated charging.
  • Prefer a lighter phone and curved 144Hz display.
  • Want IP68 rather than IP67 protection.
  • Like Motorola’s cleaner Android interface.
  • Prefer its stabilized main-camera and autofocus-ultrawide design.
  • Find it substantially cheaper or bundled with a charger in your market.

Value in 2026

Both models are now older 2024 phones, so discount, battery condition, remaining support, and warranty matter more than launch specifications. No dependable universal US price applies here. Country-specific listings, such as an India comparison updated in July 2026, cannot be converted into a US recommendation without checking taxes, import costs, warranty, and exact configuration. Compare the complete package: phone condition, charger, storage, support, and return policy.

Verdict

The Galaxy A55 is the better all-rounder: it is faster in available benchmarks, substantially louder through its speakers, expandable with microSD, and modestly ahead in one comparative endurance test. The Edge 50 Fusion is the better convenience phone: it is much lighter, charges dramatically faster, offers a brighter 144Hz curved display and IP68 rating, and has appealing camera hardware. Choose according to the advantage you will use every day—rapid charging and comfort, or performance, sound, storage, and longer-term ownership confidence.
