The TECNO Pova Neo 2 is a 2022 budget 4G phone built around a 7,000mAh battery and a large 90Hz screen. Its age is the main reason for caution in 2026: it launched with Android 12, uses an entry-level Helio G85 chip, and has a 720×1640 display. Consider it only if the local price is low, the battery is healthy, and you have verified the exact regional variant.
What is the TECNO Pova Neo 2?
The Pova Neo 2 is an entry-level smartphone in TECNO’s POVA family. It was introduced in Russia in September 2022, with sales reported from October 3 that year. Launch coverage described 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB versions; TECNO’s regional specifications also list a 4GB/128GB configuration. It is a 4G model, not a 5G phone. Gadgets 360’s launch report and TECNO’s product page document the launch and product positioning.
TECNO still hosts regional product information, but a product page does not establish that the phone is currently in stock. Memory, camera details, NFC, colors, LTE bands and firmware can vary by market and model code, so identify the specific unit rather than relying on the name alone.

The official page has conflicting camera entries: one section lists 8MP front and 16MP dual rear cameras, while another shows 32MP front and 13MP triple rear wording. The 8MP and 16MP+2MP configuration is the better-supported launch baseline, but confirm the camera hardware on the particular regional SKU.

Display: smooth scrolling, modest sharpness
The 6.82-inch screen gives plenty of room for video, reading and social feeds, while its 90Hz refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations feel smoother than a standard 60Hz panel. The trade-off is its 720×1640 resolution. TECNO identifies it as HD+; it is not Full HD+ or 1080p. On a screen this large, small text and fine details will look less crisp than on a similarly sized 1080p display.
Performance, gaming and memory
The Helio G85 is suited to routine tasks such as calls, messaging, email, web browsing, video streaming and casual games. It is not a sensible choice for demanding 3D games at high settings or for expectations of sustained performance like a current mid-range phone. With 4GB of physical RAM, heavy multitasking is also more constrained than on newer phones with more memory.

- Rugged, rigid plastic back cover and soft, flexible TPU inner sleeve for heavy-duty shock protection, non-slip, scratch-resistant and durable.
- Flexible TPU inner edge cushioning and air cushion technology ensure reliable shock protection; raised edges add camera and screen protection.
- Built-in folding stand to watch movie video pictures, etc.
- Inside the center of the holder ring there is a piece of hidden iron that allows the case to be attached to the magnetic car holder, strong and sturdy, navigate on your trips without danger.
TECNO promotes Panther Game Engine and Game Space 2.0, but those software features do not change the processor’s capabilities. Likewise, “extended RAM” is storage used as virtual memory, not a physical upgrade: TECNO says the 6GB/128GB version can expand to as much as 11GB and 4GB models to 7GB. If choosing among variants, 128GB storage is preferable when the price difference is reasonable; the 64GB version leaves less room for apps and media after system files occupy storage.
Battery life and charging
The 7,000mAh battery is the phone’s clearest advantage on paper. Its capacity suits buyers who put endurance ahead of a slim, light design, but capacity alone cannot establish a particular runtime: brightness, cellular reception, workload, software and battery condition all affect it. TECNO also advertises STS battery-safety technology; that is the manufacturer’s stated feature, not independent evidence of a safety advantage.

Charging is rated at 18W, a modest rate for a battery this large, so a full recharge is unlikely to be quick by current budget-phone standards. The large cell also contributes to the reported 230g weight and 9.63mm thickness. For a used or old-stock phone, battery age is especially important; a 2022 device may no longer deliver the endurance its capacity suggests when new.
Camera expectations
Using the best-supported launch configuration, the phone has a 16MP main rear camera, a 2MP secondary camera and an 8MP front camera with flash. These specifications make it a basic snapshot setup rather than a reason to buy the phone. They do not establish image quality: newer devices are likely to be stronger in challenging night scenes, moving subjects, dynamic range and video stabilization, but a hands-on comparison would be needed to rate this camera. Because TECNO’s regional specifications conflict, check the actual SKU before purchase.

Software and long-term use
Android 12 with HiOS 8.6 is the verified launch software baseline. The available model-specific information does not establish a guaranteed major Android upgrade or a current security-support timetable, so do not assume a later Android version. Before buying, check the handset’s installed Android version and security-patch date, particularly if it is imported or used; firmware and update behavior can differ by region.

The published prices are historical Russian launch figures, not a current or worldwide price. Gadgets 360 reported RUB 9,990 for a 4GB/64GB version through DNS Shop, also cited RUB 11,990, and listed RUB 13,990 for the 6GB/128GB version, initially unavailable. Sales were reported from October 3, 2022. The conflicting figures should not be converted into a supposed 2026 price; taxes, exchange rates, import costs and local retail pricing differ.

As of the cited current database listing, Gadgets 360 marks the model released but shows “Notify When Available”. That, alongside TECNO’s continuing product documentation, means stock must be checked with a local seller. Compare the asking price with newer phones, and establish whether the unit is new, refurbished or imported, what warranty applies, and whether replacement parts are available.
What to check before buying
For an imported, used or old-stock Pova Neo 2, verify the details that affect whether it will work for you and how long it is likely to last:
- Confirm the exact RAM/storage configuration, model code, firmware region and camera hardware.
- Check LTE-band support and VoLTE compatibility with your carrier; do not assume imported bands match local networks.
- Verify NFC on the exact SKU if you need contactless payments. TECNO lists NFC for model code LG6n, not as a universal feature.
- Ask whether the warranty is valid in your country, and confirm charger plug and voltage compatibility.
- Test battery drain, USB-C charging, touchscreen response, fingerprint sensor, cameras and flash, SIM recognition, and the microSD slot.
- Check the security-patch date and confirm Google Play availability and the device’s language settings.
Who should buy the Pova Neo 2?
It is a conditional choice for someone who wants a very large battery, a large screen, 90Hz scrolling and microSD expansion for basic 4G use—and can buy a verified, healthy unit for substantially less than a newer alternative. It is a poor fit if you need 5G, a sharp 1080p screen, demanding gaming, strong camera performance, a lightweight body or documented current software support. If the price comes close to a newer phone, the newer model is generally the more practical purchase.
