The iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max can use 4G/LTE and 5G in Brazil, provided the particular model is compatible with the operator, unlocked, accepted for activation and used with an eligible line in a coverage area. The main caveat is 5G SA (“pure 5G”): do not assume every iPhone 13 configuration can use it.
Which Brazilian networks does the iPhone 13 support?
Apple lists the iPhone 13 for Gigabit LTE and sub-6 GHz 5G. Its listed radio bands overlap with important Brazilian 4G and 5G frequencies, but Apple cautions that cellular compatibility varies by model number and carrier. See Apple’s iPhone 13 technical specifications.

| Network | What to expect |
|---|---|
| 4G/LTE | Yes. The Apple-listed model supports LTE bands 3, 7 and 28, among others. |
| 5G DSS | Supported where the operator offers it and the line and location are eligible. |
| 5G NSA | Supported according to carrier compatibility information, subject to model, provisioning and coverage. |
| 5G SA | Not guaranteed across operators or configurations. Verify the exact model and service with the carrier. |
| 5G mmWave | Not needed for ordinary Brazilian 5G compatibility; the relevant iPhone 13 support is sub-6 GHz. |
Brazil uses both NSA, which combines 5G radio access with parts of a 4G network core, and SA, which uses a 5G core and is often called “5G puro.” Anatel explains these network types and advises checking the operator and coverage. Anatel’s 5G phone information
Which bands matter in Brazil?
4G/LTE
Three useful LTE bands to look for are band 3 (1,800 MHz), band 7 (2,600 MHz) and band 28 (700 MHz). Apple lists all three for the iPhone 13 model on its Brazilian specification page.

- There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
- This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.
- Product may come in generic Box.
5G
Among the relevant Brazilian 5G frequencies, Apple lists support for n28 (700 MHz), n40 (2.3 GHz), n77 (3.7 GHz) and n78 (3.5 GHz); n3 (1.8 GHz) may also be relevant where deployed for 5G or DSS. This is not a promise that every operator deploys every band in every place. Band support alone cannot guarantee signal or identical coverage between cities, neighborhoods or carriers.
Does it work with Claro, TIM and Vivo?
Claro
Claro’s device table lists the iPhone 13 family for 5G DSS and NSA. It treats SA separately, requiring a compatible device, chip and plan; the table does not establish that every iPhone 13 configuration has Claro SA access. Check Claro’s 5G device compatibility table and confirm current service eligibility with Claro.

TIM
TIM lists the iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max among phones compatible with its 5G service. TIM also says a SIM change is not required just to use 5G. That listing does not guarantee every model configuration or 5G mode; plan, line provisioning and coverage still matter. See TIM’s 5G information.
Vivo
Vivo’s eSIM information includes iPhone 13 models among compatible devices and describes dual-SIM use with a physical SIM and eSIM or two eSIMs, depending on the phone’s configuration and origin. That is evidence of eSIM support, not a definitive 5G band or SA compatibility matrix. Check 5G eligibility and local coverage with Vivo. Vivo eSIM support

Will an imported or U.S. iPhone 13 work?
Often, yes; country of purchase by itself does not decide compatibility. Apple’s U.S. iPhone 13 model, A2482, includes Brazilian-relevant bands such as LTE 3, 7 and 28 and 5G n40, n77 and n78. Other regional variants may differ, so verify the exact hardware model rather than relying on the “iPhone 13” product name.
- Make sure the phone is unlocked and not tied to a foreign carrier.
- Ask the seller for the model identifier and check the operator’s compatibility information.
- Confirm whether the phone has a physical SIM tray or is eSIM-only, and whether your Brazilian carrier can activate the intended line on it.
- Check that the device is not blocked or reported lost or stolen, and ask the operator whether it can be activated.
- For a phone bought abroad, consider Anatel’s guidance: non-homologated models can face compliance or activation problems, though this does not mean every personally imported phone is automatically blocked. Anatel guidance on buying mobile phones
Vivo says imported phones can be activated for eSIM if they meet relevant international standards and are not tied to a foreign carrier. Verify your own device and line with the operator before relying on eSIM as the only option.

- Fully unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US-Cellular, Cricket, Metro, etc.).
- Inspected and guaranteed to have minimal cosmetic damage, which is not noticeable when the device is held at arm's length.
- Successfully passed a full diagnostic test which ensures like-new functionality and removal of any prior-user personal information.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a charging cable that may be generic.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Do you need a new SIM or plan for 5G?
Not always. TIM says a SIM change is not necessary for its 5G service. Claro’s compatibility information distinguishes DSS and NSA from SA, for which it specifies compatible device, chip and plan requirements. The answer therefore depends on the operator, 5G mode, existing SIM or eSIM, plan and line provisioning. If switching to eSIM, follow the carrier’s activation and transfer procedure rather than assuming a physical SIM can be converted automatically.
How to check the exact iPhone model
- Open Settings → General → About.
- Find Model Number. It may initially show a part number; tap it to reveal the hardware model identifier.
- Compare that identifier with Apple’s cellular specifications and the chosen carrier’s compatibility information. Also check the phone’s SIM arrangement and unlock status before purchase or activation.
How to turn on 5G
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular or Mobile Service; labels can vary with iOS language and version.
- Select the relevant cellular line, then tap Voice & Data (sometimes under Cellular Data Options).
- Choose 5G Auto for the iPhone to balance 5G use and battery life, 5G On to prefer 5G when available, or LTE to turn off 5G temporarily.
5G also depends on carrier availability, an eligible data plan and coverage. 5G On may use more battery, and a 5G indicator does not guarantee faster data in a congested or weak-signal area.

Why does the iPhone 13 show LTE instead of 5G?
LTE is a normal fallback, not proof that the phone is incompatible. The iPhone may stay on LTE because 5G coverage is absent or weak, the plan or line is not enabled, the carrier is not provisioning service, the phone is indoors, or 5G Auto has selected LTE. Check these items in order:
Quick Recap
- Confirm that the carrier has 5G coverage at your location and that your plan and line are eligible.
- Check Settings → Cellular → [your line] → Voice & Data and select 5G Auto or 5G On.
- Turn Airplane Mode on for about 15 seconds, then turn it off.
- Restart the iPhone and install the latest available iOS update.
- Check for a carrier-settings update at Settings → General → About.
- Test outdoors or in another location known to have the carrier’s 5G coverage.
- Confirm the line is active and the iPhone is not locked to another operator.
- Ask the carrier to confirm that 5G is provisioned and whether your exact model and SIM or eSIM configuration can use the network mode you want.
What to verify before buying
- Exact hardware model, not just the seller’s “iPhone 13” label.
- Carrier-unlocked status and clean IMEI status.
- Compatibility with the operator’s LTE and 5G service, especially if 5G SA is essential.
- Physical SIM tray or eSIM-only configuration and the carrier’s activation support.
- Applicable Anatel homologation or certification information for imported stock.
