RepetiTouch Recorded Touches and Replayed Them Automatically—Can You Still Use It?

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

RepetiTouch was an Android touch-macro recorder, not a video screen recorder. It captured taps, swipes, timing and, on compatible devices, other input events, then replayed that sequence on a loop. The original app required root for its broad system-level control, is reported as unavailable on Google Play, and had known problems on Android 10 and later. That makes it a useful historical explanation—not a dependable modern installation recommendation.

What RepetiTouch actually recorded

RepetiTouch recorded touchscreen input globally: where you touched, when you touched and how a gesture moved. Playback injected those recorded events so a repeated task could run without manually touching the screen. Historical listings describe looping, saved recordings and limited multi-touch support on some devices. See the archived feature descriptions at MyAndroid and AndroidBlip.

That is different from a screen recorder. A screen recorder creates a video file showing the display. RepetiTouch created a replayable input sequence. It could dim or hide the display during playback on supported devices, but it did not turn the interaction into a video.

How the historical workflow worked

The exact controls and permission screens belong to an older Android interface, so treat these as historical steps rather than guaranteed instructions for a current phone.

  1. Install and launch the app on a compatible rooted Android device.
  2. Grant root access and the overlay permission needed for its floating control panel.
  3. Tap the panel’s record control, then perform the taps or gestures to repeat.
  4. Stop recording and press replay to run the sequence.
  5. In the historical interface, long-pressing the replay control exposed loop-count settings where supported.
  6. Save the recording if it will be reused; the app could also automatically save and reload the last recording.
  7. Watch playback. Historical documentation says replay could stop when the user touched the screen, pressed the power button or received a phone call.

The Pro edition added an editor, replay-speed control, pause, panel customization, appending a new recording to an existing one, and Locale/Tasker integration. Some additional hardware-input and display-dimming functions were device-dependent.

Free versus Pro features

Capability Free listing Pro listing
Root Distributed as “Free (root) (ads)”; not a modern root-free alternative. Explicitly required root access.
Record and replay Global touchscreen input, with limited multi-touch on certain devices. Yes, with additional controls.
Loops Configurable loop counts. Yes.
Save/load Save recordings and auto-save/auto-load the last recording. Yes, plus appending recordings.
Editing Not listed. Recording editor.
Replay speed and pause Not listed. Adjustable speed and pause during replay.
Tasker/Locale Not listed. Supported.
Panel and display controls Basic floating controls. Draggable/customizable panel, hiding during replay and display dimming on supported devices.
Additional input events Not listed. Supported on some devices.

Why root mattered

The Pro package was explicitly labelled “root,” and its description says it will not work without root access: AndroidBlip’s archived listing. Root allowed the app to control input beyond what ordinary accessibility-based auto-clickers could do. It also increased the cost of failure: rooting can affect security, updates, warranty status and device recovery.

Historical Pro permissions and capabilities included drawing over other apps for the floating panel, storage access for recordings, phone-status access so playback could stop during a call, running at startup and Google Play license verification. Those old labels should not be mapped directly onto today’s Android permission screens; Android’s permission and background-execution rules have changed substantially.

Does RepetiTouch work on modern Android?

There is no reliable basis for promising compatibility with any current Android release. AppBrain lists Pro version 1.6.12.0, identifies the last update signal as 2017 (one indexed record gives February 28, 2017), and reports that the app was removed from Google Play on December 22, 2022. The same listing says Android 10 and later negatively affected functionality, including an inability to move the control panel: AppBrain status record.

  • 7 inch (1024 x 600) capacitive touch screen
  • Optimal HD audio, Yealink Noise Proof Technology
  • Magnet Handset

Older listings mention Android 2.3 or later, but that is a minimum for the historical build, not evidence that it supports Android 10, 13, 14, 15 or 16. “Unavailable on Google Play” is a report from an app-indexing service rather than a current developer announcement, so the careful conclusion is that RepetiTouch appears discontinued and its present compatibility is unverified.

Common failure modes

The floating panel is missing

Check whether the old overlay permission was granted, but recognize that newer Android releases may block or restrict the app’s panel behavior. The archived listing points to a “panel is not shown” FAQ, yet current support availability is not established.

Touches land in the wrong place

Coordinate macros assume the same resolution, density, orientation, app layout and timing used during recording. A keyboard, notification, popup, navigation bar or changed screen can shift every subsequent tap. RepetiTouch generally replays coordinates; it does not understand that a particular button is semantically “Submit.”

Playback stops immediately

Historical behavior stops playback after a user touch, power-button press or phone call. Root failures, app crashes, timing changes and newer background restrictions can also interrupt it.

Multi-touch gestures fail

Multi-touch was device-dependent even in the original feature descriptions. A gesture that worked on one rooted phone was not guaranteed to work on another.

Tasker integration does not trigger

Tasker and Locale support belonged to Pro. Integration therefore depends on the old app, its root environment and Android behavior that may no longer exist.

Is installing an old APK safe?

Third-party APK availability is not the same as official support. APKMirror has a historical record for the free package, RepetiTouch Free 1.4.6.0, but that record does not establish that every copy is authentic, maintained or safe today. Before installing abandoned software, verify the publisher and signature where possible, inspect requested permissions, scan the file independently, back up the device and avoid using a primary account or phone. Rooting and granting an old app broad input control magnify the consequences of a compromised APK.

Do not treat the historical indexed Pro price of approximately $11.99 as a current purchase offer; AppBrain’s record says the app is no longer available on Google Play.

When the idea still makes sense—and when it does not

Potentially useful cases

  • A fixed, repeatable sequence on an older rooted device with a controlled screen state.
  • Replaying a known gesture sequence for legacy-device testing.
  • Looping a task where exact coordinates matter more than conditions or decisions.

Reasons to avoid it

  • Root, abandoned software and unofficial APK supply-chain risk.
  • Coordinate drift caused by layout, orientation, density, notifications or popups.
  • Unattended input that could send messages, delete data or confirm a purchase.
  • Possible violations of a game’s, website’s, service’s or employer’s rules.
  • Reported Android 10-and-later compatibility problems.

Better choices for a current phone

Choose a tool by the job rather than assuming every “auto-clicker” is equivalent.

Need More suitable direction Trade-off
Simple repeated taps A maintained Android auto-clicker using accessibility services or overlays. Often avoids root, but may not reproduce complex gestures or provide global input control.
Triggers, schedules and conditions Tasker, MacroDroid or Automate. These are state-aware automation platforms, not one-for-one replacements for blind coordinate recording; plugins or additional mechanisms may be needed for detailed UI interaction.
App development and regression testing A dedicated UI-testing framework or emulator workflow. More setup, but selectors, assertions, repeatability and reports are stronger than raw coordinate replay.

Check each product’s current Android support, pricing and touch-replay limits before choosing it; those details change independently of RepetiTouch’s history.

Verdict

RepetiTouch was a capable concept for its era: record a sequence of touch events, save it, and replay it repeatedly. It was never a conventional screen recorder, and its broad control depended on root. With a last listed Pro version of 1.6.12.0, an apparent 2017 update, reported Android 10-and-later problems and Google Play removal in 2022, it is a poor default recommendation for a modern unrooted Android user. Consider it only if you deliberately maintain an older rooted test device and accept the security, compatibility and unintended-input risks.
