Samsung Galaxy M10 Review: Is It Still Worth Buying in 2026?

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy M10 was a sensible entry-level phone in India in early 2019, but it is rarely a good primary-phone purchase in 2026. Consider one only when it is very cheap, in good condition, network-compatible, and needed for calls, messaging, music, light browsing, or emergency use. Its old Exynos 7870 chip, 720p screen, slow charging, micro-USB port, limited storage, aging battery and uncertain app compatibility make newer budget phones substantially safer choices.

What the Galaxy M10 was

Samsung launched the Galaxy M10 in India in January 2019 as one of the first Galaxy M-series phones, selling it online through Samsung and Amazon. The range targeted younger buyers with large displays, dual cameras and long battery life. Launch pricing was ₹7,990 for 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and ₹8,990 for 3GB with 32GB storage, so contemporary reviews evaluated it as a low-cost 2019 phone rather than a modern smartphone.

Its original strengths remain real: a large screen, dual-SIM and microSD flexibility, an unusual ultra-wide camera and respectable launch-era endurance. They must, however, be judged against eight years of hardware and software aging.

Price and availability in 2026

Do not pay near-new budget-phone money for an unavailable 2019 handset. The ₹7,999 tracker figure is a historical listing signal, not evidence of stock. Used pricing varies with battery health, storage variant, region and accessories; the right ceiling is whatever leaves a substantial saving versus a current entry-level phone.

The M10 was primarily an India-focused model. Confirm the exact model number and LTE bands before importing or using one outside India. “4G” does not guarantee compatibility with every carrier, and a seller should demonstrate mobile data and calling on your intended network.

Design and display

The plastic body weighs 163g and has rounded edges, a comfortable grip, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a small Infinity-V waterdrop notch. It looked modern for its price in 2019; today, the thick bezels, micro-USB connector and absence of a fingerprint sensor make it visibly dated.

The 6.22-inch 720 × 1520 TFT panel is large and adequate indoors for messages, ordinary video and social apps. At roughly 270ppi, text and detailed photos look soft beside newer budget displays, and it cannot deliver AMOLED contrast or deep blacks. TechRadar praised its vivid, price-relative presentation, while Gadgets 360 identified the low resolution as a meaningful compromise; both observations can be true.

Before buying used, inspect the notch and glass for cracks, dead pixels, discoloration, burn-in and touch dead zones.

Software and everyday experience

The phone launched with Android 8.1 Oreo and Samsung Experience 9.5, including Samsung and Microsoft applications, DailyHunt, lock-screen Stories and Dual Messenger. Some bundled apps could not be uninstalled. Face recognition was slow and unreliable in Gadgets 360’s testing.

Do not assume current Android versions or security updates. Modern applications may require newer Android, reject the device or consume much of its storage through Google Play Services and updates. Use a PIN or password for sensitive accounts rather than treating this older face unlock as equivalent to modern secure biometrics.

Performance and gaming

The Exynos 7870 and 2GB or 3GB of RAM are sufficient for calls, basic messaging and light browsing, but not for demanding 2026 workloads. Gadgets 360 recorded app-switching delays, camera-to-gallery pauses, frequent background reloads and sluggishness even in Settings. Its 2019 review unit scored 64,371 in AnTuTu, with Geekbench scores of 728 single-core and 3,674 multi-core; these are historical measurements, not current benchmarks.

  • Android 13.0 Operating System: Runs on the latest Android OS for smooth performance and up-to-date features.
  • Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac: Stay connected with others wirelessly and stream content at high speeds.
  • 6.6" AMOLED Display: View vivid content on a large, high-resolution screen.
  • Quad Camera Array: Capture stunning photos and 4K video with the advanced camera system.
  • Long Battery Life: Power through the day on a large 5000mAh battery.

PUBG Mobile performed poorly even at low graphics settings. Modern social apps, navigation, complex websites and multitasking can be frustrating, especially on the 2GB model. The 3GB/32GB version is preferable, but 32GB becomes restrictive after system files and app data. A factory reset and ample free storage can improve responsiveness, while an aged battery may trigger additional power management.

Battery life and charging

The 3,400mAh battery was a launch-era strength. Gadgets 360 measured 14 hours 29 minutes in an HD video-loop test and reported a day extending into the following morning; full charging took a little over three hours. India Today also observed close to three hours from empty to full. Those results describe 2019 review units, not a second-hand phone in 2026.

There is no fast charging, and the 5W micro-USB setup is slow by current standards. Ask whether the battery has been replaced, watch for rapid idle drain, unexpected shutdowns, heat or a lifting rear cover, and test charging from roughly 20% to 80% without cable disconnections.

Cameras

The 13MP primary camera and 5MP ultra-wide gave the M10 useful flexibility at its launch price. The ultra-wide is practical for groups, buildings, landscapes and cramped rooms. In bright daylight the primary camera can produce acceptable images.

  • Fully Unlocked Version. Compatible with Most GSM + CDMA Carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, MetroPCS, etc. Will Also work with CDMA Carriers Such as Verizon, Sprint.

Expect modest detail, dull or slightly dark color, weak low-light results, blown highlights, edge warping on ultra-wide shots and visibly shaky video because there is no image stabilization. The 5MP selfie camera is adequate for calls and occasional daylight selfies. TechRadar was more positive about daylight photography, but also criticized night performance; the balanced conclusion is useful versatility rather than modern image quality.

Connectivity and practical features

  • Two Nano-SIM slots and a dedicated microSD slot are useful for calls and media.
  • The 3.5mm jack and FM radio remain convenient.
  • Micro-USB is slower and less convenient than USB-C, and the phone cannot fast-charge.
  • Test both SIM slots, LTE registration, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, speaker, microphone and headphone output.
  • Do not assume every carrier’s LTE bands or VoLTE configuration will work.

Galaxy M10 versus alternatives

Galaxy M10 versus Galaxy M20

The Galaxy M20 was the more capable sibling, with a 5,000mAh battery and fast charging. If similarly aged examples cost about the same, the M20 is generally more practical, although its battery may also have degraded. See the period comparison at TechRadar.

M10 versus a newer entry-level phone

Compare Android version and update policy, USB-C and charging speed, processor, RAM, storage, LTE or 5G bands, display, camera processing, warranty and replacement-part availability. A current low-cost phone normally wins on these factors even when the M10 appears inexpensive.

M10 versus a later used Samsung

A later Galaxy A or M model may provide USB-C, a fingerprint reader, a larger battery and newer software. Condition still matters: a clean M10 can be preferable to a newer phone with a swollen battery, damaged port or account lock.

Used Galaxy M10 inspection checklist

  1. Inspect the rear cover for separation or swelling; check heat, idle drain and sudden shutdowns.
  2. Plug in a known-good cable in multiple orientations and confirm stable charging.
  3. Run a finger across the entire screen or use a drawing app to find dead zones and ghost touches.
  4. Test autofocus, flash, ultra-wide switching, front camera and video; inspect camera glass for haze or scratches.
  5. Insert both SIMs, place a call, test LTE data and confirm the phone is not carrier-locked.
  6. Check free internal storage and test the microSD slot with a known-good card.
  7. Test proximity sensing, auto-rotation, GPS, speaker, microphone, vibration, Bluetooth and the headphone jack.
  8. Verify model number, Android version, security-patch level and required apps before paying.
  9. Have the seller remove Google and Samsung accounts before factory reset; never accept a device still protected by the previous owner’s account.

Who should buy it?

  • A buyer needing an extremely cheap backup or emergency handset.
  • A child or temporary user needing calls, messaging and light media.
  • An owner who already has one and only needs a battery or port repair at low cost.
  • Someone who accepts old software, modest cameras and basic performance.

Who should avoid it?

  • Gamers, heavy multitaskers and camera-focused users.
  • Anyone requiring current security support, banking reliability or work-critical applications.
  • Buyers who expect USB-C, fast charging, a fingerprint reader or dependable modern app compatibility.
  • Anyone offered the 2GB/16GB version as a primary phone.
  • Anyone seeing rapid drain, overheating, a swollen battery, damaged port or incompatible LTE bands.

Final verdict

The Galaxy M10 was good value at ₹7,990–₹8,990 in India in early 2019, especially for its large display, dual-SIM/microSD tray, ultra-wide camera and battery endurance. In 2026, those benefits no longer offset its slow processor, 720p panel, 5W micro-USB charging, limited storage, old Android base and uncertain battery condition. Buy one only as a carefully inspected, very inexpensive secondary device; otherwise put the money toward a newer phone.
