Short answer: The Samsung Galaxy A50 is the better all-round hardware package, with a higher-contrast AMOLED display, larger battery, microSD slot, headphone jack and ultrawide camera. The Motorola One Vision is the better niche choice for its optically stabilized main camera, cleaner Android interface and tall 21:9-style screen. In 2026, however, the best buy is whichever individual phone is unlocked for your carrier, has a healthy battery and costs materially less than a newer supported refurbished phone.

Display: Galaxy A50 wins image quality
Samsung describes the A50’s 6.4-inch 2340×1080 Super AMOLED panel in its launch material (Samsung announcement). AMOLED pixels can switch off for true blacks, making video, dark mode and reading in a dim room look richer than the One Vision’s LCD.
The One Vision’s 6.3-inch 2520×1080 display is narrower and taller, close to a 21:9 format. That shape is comfortable for scrolling and some cinematic video, while its extra vertical pixels produce a slightly sharper specification-sheet result. Widescreen content can show black bars, though, and neither phone has a modern high-refresh-rate panel.

Inspect used screens carefully. A50 AMOLED units can show status-bar or navigation burn-in; One Vision phones should be checked for cracks, backlight irregularities, punch-hole damage and frame or adhesive separation.
Cameras: choose versatility or stabilization
Galaxy A50’s strengths
The A50 combines a 25MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP depth camera and 25MP selfie camera, according to Samsung’s specification sheet. The ultrawide is valuable for landscapes, architecture, interiors and group photos—subjects that cannot be reproduced by simply increasing the main camera’s megapixels.

Motorola One Vision’s strengths
Motorola lists a 48MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, Quad Pixel processing that produces 12MP images, a 5MP depth camera and a 25MP front camera. OIS can reduce blur from hand movement in darker scenes and during handheld video.
Do not treat 48MP as proof of superior image quality. The practical Motorola advantage is its stabilized main-camera design and processing; Samsung’s advantage is a more flexible rear system. A definitive low-light winner would require controlled tests of the exact software and camera apps.

Performance and gaming
Exynos 9610 and Exynos 9609 are from a similar 2019 midrange class. Storage wear, thermal behavior, battery health, background apps and Android version will affect perceived speed more than the small chip-name difference. Either phone should handle messaging, browsing, streaming, navigation and light social media when healthy. Four gigabytes of RAM can feel restrictive with heavy multitasking, and neither is a sensible 2026 purchase for demanding 3D games.
Battery and charging
The A50 has a 4,000mAh battery and the One Vision a 3,500mAh non-removable battery (Motorola specifications; Samsung specification sheet). That gives Samsung the paper advantage, but a 2019 battery may have lost substantial capacity. A well-preserved One Vision can outlast a worn A50.

Ask the seller about unexpected shutdowns, rapid percentage drops, heat during light use and overnight drain. Samsung documents 25W fast charging for the referenced model, while Motorola marketed TurboPower; included chargers and actual regional charging behavior vary. A battery replacement, screen repair or charging-port repair can cost enough to erase the value of a very cheap handset.

The A50 runs Samsung’s One UI, with Samsung applications, device-management tools and ecosystem features. The One Vision was launched as an Android One phone, emphasizing a comparatively clean Google-style interface. That makes Motorola simpler, but Android One’s historical update promise is not current support.

Check the actual phone rather than the launch branding:
- Open Settings → About phone and record the Android version and exact model number.
- Open Settings → Security and privacy → System and updates, or the equivalent menu, and record the security-patch date.
- Confirm that banking, government, authentication, wallet, streaming and carrier apps support that Android version.
- After purchase, ensure the seller has removed every Google or Samsung account and completed a factory reset.
Samsung’s official record for model SM-A505G shows a June 1, 2021 security patch (Samsung update page). That is evidence for that model, not a universal end date for every A50 variant. Neither phone should be selected for several more years of security-sensitive primary use.
Storage, ports and network compatibility
The referenced U.S. unlocked A50 sheet lists 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, microSD support up to 512GB, USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The One Vision commonly has 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is convenient if you do not want a memory card; confirm expansion, NFC, SIM behavior and wireless details for the exact regional model.
“Unlocked” does not mean “works everywhere.” Before paying, compare the exact model’s LTE bands and VoLTE support with your carrier’s compatibility checker. Also verify that the IMEI is clean, the phone is not financed or blacklisted, and the listing identifies the carrier, SIM format, storage, charger and return terms. A locked T-Mobile A50 listing, for example, is not a universal unlocked recommendation.

Used-phone inspection checklist
- Identity: Match the model number in Settings and on the listing; confirm storage and regional edition.
- Network: Check carrier unlock, LTE bands, VoLTE, IMEI/blacklist status and dual-SIM behavior.
- Battery: Look for swelling, heat, rapid drain, shutdowns and implausible percentage changes.
- Screen: Test touch across the panel; inspect A50 AMOLED burn-in and One Vision LCD, punch-hole and frame damage.
- Cameras: Test focus, flash, video and (on the Motorola) OIS behavior; make sure lenses are not cracked.
- Charging and audio: Wiggle the USB-C plug gently, test charging speed, speakers, microphones and the A50 headphone jack.
- Biometrics and NFC: Test the A50 in-display reader, the Motorola rear reader and NFC if you need payments or accessories.
- Accounts and returns: Require a completed factory reset, no activation lock, a written return window and a warranty.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy A50 if you need
- AMOLED contrast for reading and video.
- A larger battery capacity.
- microSD expansion or a 3.5mm headphone jack.
- An ultrawide camera for travel, interiors and groups.
- Samsung One UI and related ecosystem features.
Choose the Motorola One Vision if you need
- Optical stabilization on the main camera.
- A cleaner, near-stock Android interface.
- A tall 21:9-style display.
- Usually 128GB of built-in storage.
- A better-preserved individual unit at the same price.
Use this priority order when comparing listings: software and security suitability (25%), actual condition and battery health (25%), display (15%), camera needs (15%), carrier compatibility (10%), and price plus warranty (10%). If a newer supported refurbished phone costs only a little more, it is generally the safer purchase for banking, long-term ownership, 5G, app compatibility and replacement parts. Refurbished marketplaces such as Back Market’s Android category advertise 12-month warranties and 30-day returns, but inventory and prices change; its example A50 page is specifically a locked T-Mobile configuration. Individual eBay listings can be cheaper but require closer seller, IMEI, condition and return-policy checks. Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed catalog focuses on newer Galaxy models rather than these two.
