Yes. Motorola lists Android 14 as an upgrade for the motorola edge+ (2023), which launched with Android 13. The update was distributed in stages during 2024, not on one universal date. As of September 2026, Android 14 is an intermediate release: Motorola also lists this phone for Android 15. The U.S. support listing currently schedules security updates through May 2027, with timing subject to regional and carrier differences.
Android 14 status: confirmed, but not the latest listed upgrade
Motorola’s U.S. software and security support listing identifies the motorola edge+ (2023) as launching with Android 13 and receiving Android 14, with Android 15 listed as the next OS upgrade. Motorola’s separate Android 15 phone list also includes the Edge+ (2023). In other words, Android 14 was released for this model, but it is not the endpoint of its listed OS upgrade path.

Check the exact model before applying advice: the motorola edge+ (2023) is not the standard motorola edge (2023) or the motorola edge+ (2022). Motorola has a distinct support page for the Edge+ (2023). Carrier-sold versions can also have different software behavior and timing from unlocked units.
When did the Android 14 rollout happen?
The available evidence points to a staged rollout during 2024, with reports of some U.S. unlocked and carrier phones receiving it around midyear. Motorola has not published one release date that applies to every Edge+ (2023) in every country and on every carrier. Treat reports tied to a particular unit or carrier as evidence of availability for that case, not a universal launch date.

Motorola explains that operator certification, testing, regional schedules and other partners can affect when an OS update reaches a phone. Consequently, two devices with the same model name may not be offered an update at the same time. Its OS update guidance directs owners to the country-specific software-update information for eligibility and availability.
How to check the Android version and look for an update
- Connect the phone to reliable Wi-Fi. Charge it to about 50% or more, or keep it connected to power.
- Open Settings and go to System > System updates or Software update. Labels can vary slightly by software version.
- Tap Check for updates and follow the on-screen instructions if an update is offered. Review the prompt, allow the download to finish, and let the phone restart and complete its app optimization.
- To confirm what is installed, open Settings > About phone > Android version. Check the Android version, Android security update date, build number and Google Play system update date.
The Android version tells you whether the phone is on Android 13, 14 or 15. A newer security-patch date alone does not mean the Android OS version changed; security updates and major Android upgrades are separate updates.
What Android 14 changes—and what cannot be assumed
Android 14 provides platform-level changes, including more granular privacy permissions for selected photos and videos, accessibility improvements, and updated system and security behavior. It also introduced a newer lock-screen customization framework. The presence and details of individual functions depend on Motorola’s implementation and the phone’s software build.
The Edge+ (2023) runs Motorola’s My UX interface. Motorola describes My UX as covering elements such as gestures, personalization, colors, fonts, icon shapes and wallpaper controls; those are Motorola interface features, not all Android 14 features. Motorola warns that Android functionality varies by device and manufacturer in its software upgrade guide.
Without an Edge+ (2023)-specific changelog, do not assume that a feature demonstrated on a Pixel or Samsung phone is present here. Exact lock-screen controls, themed icons, Peek Display, Moto Secure, Ready For or external-display behavior, camera changes, and battery-life effects should be checked on the particular Motorola build rather than promised as part of Android 14.
Why Android 14 may not appear on a particular phone
- Carrier or region: A carrier variant may be waiting for approval, or the device may follow a different regional schedule than an unlocked U.S. phone.
- Staged distribution: Availability for one owner does not mean every eligible unit was offered the update at once.
- Model mismatch: Confirm that the phone is the Edge+ (2023), not another Edge model with a different support record.
- Basic update conditions: Low battery, unstable Wi-Fi or insufficient free storage can prevent a download or installation.
- Already updated: The phone may be on Android 14 or 15 even if its security-patch date seems old; check the Android version itself.
- Software changes or release pauses: Modified software, an unlocked bootloader, a failed prior update, or a temporary pause can complicate or delay an OTA offer.
If the update is missing or installation fails
- Confirm the model under Settings > About phone, then note the Android version, security update date and build number.
- Restart the phone, connect to stable Wi-Fi, charge it, and free storage if needed.
- Install any smaller pending system update first, then check again under Settings > System > System updates.
- If it is a carrier-purchased phone, check with that carrier about its update schedule. For model-specific eligibility, use Motorola’s regional support information or the Edge+ (2023) product support page.
- Back up important data before attempting recovery. Motorola’s support page is the official starting point for available software-fix options; recovery procedures may erase the phone.
A missing OTA is not a reason to install a firmware package from an unspecified third-party site. A package for the wrong model, carrier or region can cause failed installation, data loss or connectivity problems.

Motorola’s current U.S. listing gives this model the following software position:

These are Motorola’s current stated plans for the U.S. product entry, not a guarantee that each carrier or region will receive every update on the same schedule. Motorola says timing can vary and its schedule may change. “At least bimonthly” does not mean that every owner receives a patch every month.
At launch, Motorola announced three years of OS upgrades and four years of bimonthly security updates for the Edge+ (2023). The current support page is the more useful reference for the listed upgrade path and security end date. An OS upgrade changes the Android version; security maintenance can arrive separately without changing that version.
Should you keep or buy the Edge+ (2023)?
If you already own it
Install an offered official OS upgrade unless there is a documented problem affecting your specific device. Back up important data and make sure the phone has enough charge and storage before starting. The model’s hardware remains substantial: Motorola lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, 8GB RAM, 512GB storage, a 6.7-inch pOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, a 5,100mAh battery, 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging in its official specifications.
If you are considering one now
Weigh those hardware features against the phone’s 2023 launch and Motorola’s current U.S. security-update plan through May 2027. That remaining support window matters more than whether a listing advertises Android 14 or 15. Compare the actual price, condition, warranty and carrier compatibility, along with the support commitments of alternatives. Motorola’s original U.S. launch announcement gave an MSRP of $799.99 in 2023; that is a historical launch price, not a current price recommendation.
