The vivo Y78+ is a China-market phone launched in April 2023, with a 6.78-inch curved OLED display that supports up to 120Hz, a Snapdragon 695 5G processor, and a 5,000mAh battery. Its original China prices ran from CNY 1,599 to CNY 1,999, depending on memory configuration. The official China name is vivo Y78+; it is not automatically the same device as the global-market vivo Y78 5G or the separate China-market Y78.
That distinction matters most if you are considering an import: software, supported network bands, warranty and availability can vary by region. The Y78+’s strongest specifications are its curved high-refresh-rate display and battery, while its Snapdragon 695 is a mid-range 2023 platform rather than a current performance leader.
Vivo Y78+ price and availability
Vivo launched the Y78+ in China in April 2023, with sales beginning April 26. The prices below are its historical China launch prices, not a current U.S. retail price or a guaranteed import price. FoneArena’s launch coverage reported this configuration ladder:

The later Y78+ T1 Edition used the same CNY 1,599, CNY 1,799 and CNY 1,999 price ladder for its memory configurations, according to Gizmochina and Gadgets 360.

A China Mobile regional shop page lists a 12GB/256GB Y78+ at ¥1,489: the listing is a seller-price signal, not a universal current price. The page cautions that some product information may be system-generated or differ from the physical product. Shipping, taxes, seller terms and import costs can also change what a buyer pays.
The available sources establish a China launch for the Y78+, not official U.S. retail availability. A global vivo product page exists for the differently named Y78 5G; its existence does not establish that the Y78+ is sold or supported in every market.
Display: curved OLED with up to 120Hz
The Y78+ has a 6.78-inch curved OLED/AMOLED panel with 2400 × 1080 resolution. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which can make scrolling and supported games look smoother than on a conventional 60Hz screen. Vivo’s China specification material limits 120Hz support to selected system interfaces and apps, so the mode should not be read as a guarantee that every app or screen runs at 120Hz. Published specifications claim 1,300-nit local peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 and 105% NTSC color gamut. Vivo Hong Kong’s material also cites a 300Hz touch-sampling rate. These are specification claims, not independent measurements of the display. Vivo Hong Kong’s Y78 announcement concerns the related regional Y78 5G, so its figures should not be treated as proof that every regional model is identical.

The curved edges are a visual feature, but they bring practical trade-offs: edge impacts can be costly, and finding a well-fitting screen protector may be harder than for a flat display. Buyers considering a used or imported phone should check the screen condition and repair options before purchase.
Snapdragon 695 performance
The Y78+ uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695, a 6nm, eight-core 5G chipset with an Adreno 619 GPU. It is a mid-range platform from the phone’s 2023 generation. It is suited to everyday tasks such as messaging, browsing, video streaming, social apps and ordinary multitasking, with moderate gaming rather than flagship-level gaming as the sensible expectation.

Vivo’s global Y78 5G page claims an AnTuTu score above 410,000. That is a manufacturer claim for the related global model, not an independently verified Y78+ test result. By 2026, the Snapdragon 695’s age is a meaningful consideration, particularly for demanding games and buyers seeking several more years of high-performance headroom.

Specifications are compiled from FoneArena’s Y78+ coverage, vivo’s China specification page and the T1 Edition specifications reported by Gadgets 360. Color names vary across editions and translations; published options include black, blue and gold.
Memory and storage
Configurations include 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. The phone uses LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. Vivo Extended RAM 3.0 can use some storage as virtual memory, but that is not the same as adding physical RAM. The 12GB model therefore has more actual hardware memory than an 8GB model; an extended-memory setting does not erase that distinction.

Cameras: a main camera and a basic depth sensor
The rear setup pairs a 50MP primary camera with a 2MP secondary sensor used for depth or portrait support; it is not an ultrawide or telephoto camera. The front camera is 8MP. Some coverage reports optical image stabilization (OIS) on the primary camera, while vivo’s China specification page lists rear video recording up to 1080p. The specifications alone do not establish image quality, and this camera arrangement is not a reason to expect a versatile multi-lens system.

A 5,000mAh battery and 44W wired charging are among the Y78+’s practical strengths. Vivo Hong Kong says a full charge took about an hour under laboratory conditions; real charging time varies with temperature, phone use, charger, software and battery condition. The cited specifications establish wired charging, not wireless charging.
Reported connectivity and hardware include dual-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The China specification page lists bands including n1, n5, n8, n28A, n41, n77 and n78, but warns that network function depends on the carrier, infrastructure and software version. Those listed bands do not guarantee service with a particular operator or on a different regional variant.

Y78+ versus Y78 5G—and the separate Y78
Names that look similar refer to phones that should not be treated as interchangeable:
- vivo Y78+: The China-market phone covered here, with Snapdragon 695 and OriginOS 3 at launch.
- vivo Y78 5G: A related global/Hong Kong model. Vivo’s global product page identifies it without the plus sign. Regional software, bands, cameras, memory configurations and retail availability may differ; identical specifications across markets are not established.
- China-market vivo Y78: A separate model. Gadgets 360 identifies the base Y78 as using a MediaTek Dimensity 7020, unlike the Y78+’s Snapdragon 695.
Check the full model name and model number on a listing rather than relying on a headline that says only “Y78 5G.” China-market Y78+ units launched with OriginOS 3 on Android 13; this should not be assumed to provide the same Google services, language options, updates or user experience as an international vivo phone running Funtouch OS.
Should you buy or import the Y78+ in 2026?
The Y78+ makes the most sense for someone who specifically values a curved 120Hz OLED screen, large battery and a slim, relatively light body, and can buy a supported regional variant at a suitably low total cost. Its original China launch pricing was reasonable for those features, but the phone’s age, Snapdragon 695 platform and UFS 2.2 storage make a new import less compelling unless the landed price is attractive. For anyone comparing alternatives, assess local warranty and software support alongside the headline display and chip.
Before importing a China-market unit, verify each of these points with the seller and intended carrier:

- Exact model number and whether the device is Y78+, Y78 5G or the separate Y78.
- LTE and 5G bands, plus VoLTE and 5G service compatibility with the carrier you will use.
- Whether Google Play and the specific Google services you need are installed and work on that software region.
- Available system languages, notification behavior, bootloader or software-region restrictions, and update expectations.
- Warranty coverage, local repair options, replacement-display availability and the return policy, including terms for an activated phone.
- Charger plug and supported charging standards, as well as shipping, taxes and other import costs.
For U.S. buyers in particular, the reviewed product information does not establish an official U.S. Y78+ release or carrier compatibility. Vivo’s China specification page itself makes network function conditional on carrier, infrastructure and software version. Confirm compatibility for the exact imported model rather than assuming that the word “5G” guarantees service.
