The 4K set uses individually controlled red, green and blue micro-LEDs—each smaller than 100 micrometers—as a backlight behind a display panel. Samsung’s U.S. listing identifies the 2025 model as MRN115MR95FXZA and showed a price of $29,999.99 when checked.
The short answer
- Announcement: August 12, 2025.
- Product: 115-inch Samsung Micro RGB 4K TV.
- U.S. model: MRN115MR95FXZA, based on Samsung’s MR95F platform.
- Listed U.S. price: $29,999.99 on Samsung’s 2025 product page.
- Architecture: A micro-scale RGB LED backlight behind a display panel, not a self-emissive Micro LED pixel array.
- Production status: Samsung confirmed a commercial launch and later described the model as introduced in 2025; the cited announcements do not give a production-start date, factory, volume or yield figure.
What Samsung actually launched
Samsung describes Micro RGB as the world’s first television using a micro-scale red, green and blue LED backlight. The company says the separate color emitters are individually controlled and smaller than 100 μm, allowing the backlight to shape color before light reaches the panel. Samsung also claims 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut. Those statements are manufacturer claims, not independent laboratory results. Samsung’s launch announcement
The distinction in the name matters. “RGB” describes the colors of the backlight emitters; it does not mean that every picture pixel is a tiny red, green or blue LED. The panel still modulates the backlight in an LCD-style arrangement.
Why “begins production” is too strong
Samsung’s documented milestone is an official launch, not a separately dated manufacturing announcement. On December 17, 2025, Samsung said the 115-inch model had been introduced in 2025 while announcing a broader 2026 range. Neither cited release establishes when production began, where it occurred, how many units were made or whether a mass-production milestone was reached. Samsung’s 2026 lineup announcement

Accordingly, “launched,” “introduced” or “commercially listed” is more precise than “begins production” unless a separate primary manufacturing statement appears.
Micro RGB versus other display technologies
| Technology | Light source and pixels | Strengths | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Micro RGB | Separate red, green and blue micro-LED backlight; LCD-style pixels modulate it | Potentially broad color capability, high brightness and no OLED burn-in mechanism | Still backlit; black level and blooming depend on the panel and control system |
| Mini-LED LCD | Many small white or blue LEDs illuminate an LCD panel | High brightness, mature production and many sizes | Local dimming can produce blooming and does not offer pixel-level emission |
| OLED | Organic pixels emit light directly | Excellent near-black performance, contrast, thinness and viewing angles | Some usage patterns can cause burn-in; sustained brightness varies by model |
| True Micro LED | Microscopic LEDs are the image pixels and emit directly | High brightness, contrast and durability potential | Very difficult and expensive to manufacture at large sizes |
Calling the 115-inch set a conventional self-emissive Micro LED television would therefore be misleading. Samsung’s own description centers on a Micro RGB backlight.

What the color claim does—and does not—prove
“100% BT.2020” is a gamut-coverage claim. It does not prove calibration accuracy, color volume at high brightness, screen uniformity, HDR tone mapping, black level, contrast ratio or lower blooming than a Mini-LED television. No independent measurements for this 115-inch model are established in the cited material, so brightness, input lag, power use and uniformity should not be presented as known figures.

Samsung’s Australian announcement described the 115-inch model as joining that market’s 2025 AV range over the coming months, illustrating why country-specific timing matters. Samsung Australia announcement Before ordering, verify stock status, delivery area, threshold or white-glove service, installation, packaging removal, warranty and the return policy for an exceptionally large television.
Installation is part of the purchase
- Measure the wall, stand area and viewing distance; a 115-inch diagonal screen is roughly 10 feet wide.
- Check doorways, stairwells, elevators and turning space for a package approaching 200 lb before installation hardware.
- Confirm wall strength, mount compatibility, power access and the location of external speakers or an AV receiver.
- Account for reflections and seating angles; a brighter backlight does not eliminate room-light problems.
- Use professional delivery and mounting if the retailer requires it, and confirm who handles damage inspection and removal of the packaging.
Who should consider it?
- Luxury home-theater owners who specifically want a very large direct-view television.
- Buyers prioritizing high brightness and a wide claimed color gamut over price.
- Large-room viewers who prefer a television installation to a projector and screen.
- Early adopters interested in Samsung’s new backlight architecture and smart-TV platform, including the launch material’s Knox security and seven-year free Tizen OS upgrade commitment.
Who should skip it?
- Value-focused buyers: $29,999.99 places this model firmly in the luxury category.
- Viewers whose first priority is OLED-style pixel-level black performance.
- Homes that cannot safely accommodate the screen, package or mounting load.
- Anyone expecting a self-emissive Micro LED wall rather than a backlit display.
- Buyers unwilling to wait for independent measurements before judging brightness, contrast or blooming.
What changed in 2026?
Samsung announced 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, 100- and 115-inch Micro RGB models for its expanded 2026 lineup. The 115-inch screen was not newly invented for that announcement; it was the model Samsung said had already been introduced in 2025. Samsung said the expanded range would launch and be showcased at CES 2026, but the cited announcement does not provide final U.S. prices for every size.
Verdict
Samsung’s 115-inch Micro RGB is a real, commercially listed 2025 television and an interesting new RGB-backlight design. It is not the same thing as a self-emissive Micro LED display, and Samsung’s launch materials do not verify a specific production-start milestone. At nearly $30,000, its appeal rests on exceptional size, brightness potential and novelty; buyers should confirm regional delivery and installation details and wait for independent picture-quality testing before treating Samsung’s gamut claims as proof that it outperforms OLED or high-end Mini-LED alternatives.
