AWS documented a regional incident centered on its US East (N. Virginia) region—not a simultaneous failure of every AWS region—and the available evidence does not establish that every Roblox user lost access. Roblox’s status page currently lists its systems as operational.
What Roblox users experienced
Contemporary coverage listed Roblox among services affected during the AWS disruption and reported access and connection problems. That supports saying Roblox was affected amid the wider incident, but it does not establish that every player saw the same failure or that every Roblox feature went offline.
Reported or plausible signs included a website or app that would not load, login trouble, games that failed to start or join, and timeouts or generic server errors. Marketplace, avatar, data-store, or creator functions can also have separate availability, but the available coverage does not confirm each of these symptoms for Roblox during this specific event. Contemporary coverage of the outage described problems across multiple online platforms.
What AWS reported—and what it does not prove about Roblox
AWS reported elevated error rates and latency affecting multiple services in US-EAST-1, its Northern Virginia region. Its incident record says the disruption began between 11:49 p.m. PDT on October 19 and 2:24 a.m. PDT on October 20, 2025; AWS opened the public incident record at 12:11 a.m. PDT on October 20. AWS later identified DNS-resolution problems affecting regional DynamoDB service endpoints as the trigger. It also reported related effects, including EC2 instance-launch problems and backlogs as dependent services recovered. AWS’s incident record marked the broader event resolved in an update at 3:53 p.m. PDT on October 20.

DNS helps systems find the network addresses for services. If a service cannot resolve an endpoint it depends on, requests can fail even when a user’s own device and internet connection are working. A disruption in one cloud region can therefore have consequences beyond that region when other services rely on its systems or endpoints. That explains how reports of user-facing problems in multiple places can coincide with a regional AWS incident; it does not mean all AWS regions or all Roblox infrastructure failed.
The available evidence links Roblox to the AWS event through contemporary reporting, but does not include a surviving Roblox incident notice confirming AWS as the cause of every Roblox error. It also does not establish that every Roblox component depended on the affected DynamoDB endpoints. The careful conclusion is that Roblox was reported among services affected during the AWS disruption, not that AWS conclusively explains every player’s problem.

Why “worldwide” needs qualification
“Worldwide outage” describes the reported reach of user-facing problems, not a technical finding that every Roblox server, feature, or player lost service at once. Outages can be uneven: a player may be unable to join a particular experience while the Roblox homepage works, or one function may fail while others remain available. A single game can also have a separate problem caused by its creator’s experience or hosting setup.
The AWS record identifies US-EAST-1 as the region at the center of the incident. It does not say that every AWS region failed. Contemporary coverage reported a broad impact across services, but did not independently measure Roblox availability in every country or provide a Roblox-specific outage timeline.

Was Roblox hacked, and was account data exposed?
The evidence for this event describes an availability disruption, not a confirmed Roblox data breach or cyberattack. An outage by itself is not evidence that an account was compromised, and the available sources do not establish that Roblox credentials or personal data were exposed.
Be cautious of posts offering “early access,” free Robux, outage compensation, or account recovery in exchange for a login or authentication code. Use official Roblox properties to sign in, and do not share your password or verification codes with anyone.

How to check whether Roblox is down for you
- Check Roblox’s official status page: open status.roblox.com and look at the component closest to the problem. The page separates areas such as Website, Mobile App, Games, Game Join, Data Store, Asset Delivery, and Creator.
- Compare more than one Roblox feature: try the website and app, then test another experience. If only one game fails, the issue may be specific to that experience rather than the whole platform.
- Look for a broader pattern: compare reports from other users and check AWS’s public incident record. AWS explains that its public health dashboard covers service-wide events, while account-specific events may require signing in. AWS Health Dashboard documentation describes that distinction.
- Check your connection only if official systems appear operational: try another site or app on the same connection. If Roblox alone still fails, close and reopen it; after an outage is reported as resolved, doing so can clear a stale session.
What to do during an upstream outage
If official status information and widespread reports point to a service-side incident, restarting a router, reinstalling Roblox, clearing local files, or changing a password will not repair the provider’s infrastructure. Avoid unofficial “fix” tools, risky DNS changes, and VPN recommendations presented as a guaranteed solution. Wait for the affected service to recover, then retry; local troubleshooting is useful when it helps rule out a separate device or connection problem, not as a cure for a cloud outage.
When was Roblox restored?
AWS marked its broader incident resolved at 3:53 p.m. PDT on October 20, 2025, after reporting recovery across affected infrastructure and dependent workloads. That is an AWS milestone, not a verified Roblox restoration time: the available sources do not give a precise timestamp for when Roblox service returned for all affected users. The current Roblox status page lists its systems as operational, but a present status cannot establish the exact end of a historical outage. The page’s visible incident history is limited and does not show the October 2025 event.
