Brazil’s latest documented YouTube Premium price increase was announced on April 3, 2025. It raised the reported Individual plan to R$26.90 per month and Family to R$53.90. A separate price increase reported in April 2026 affected the United States; no new Brazil-wide increase was verified in the available reporting. Your own Google account remains the definitive source because taxes, billing channel, promotions and legacy offers can change the amount shown.

What changed for existing subscribers?
New subscribers were shown the revised price immediately in 2025. Existing subscribers were moved to the new amount at an applicable billing cycle after the notice, rather than being charged mid-cycle. YouTube says price-change notices are sent at least 30 days before a change in the subscriber’s country or territory. Paused subscriptions are charged at the new rate when resumed, and canceling then subscribing again can remove an older or promotional price. Details are documented in YouTube’s price-change help page.

Does the April 2026 U.S. increase apply to Brazil?
No Brazilian nationwide increase was established by the April 10, 2026 reports about higher U.S. prices. TecMundo reported that YouTube had no Brazilian increase planned “at the moment.” That U.S. news should not be presented as a new Brazil price change. An individual Brazilian account can still show a different amount because of its offer, tax treatment, subscription status or billing platform.
What full YouTube Premium includes
Standard Premium generally provides:
- Ad-free playback across supported YouTube content.
- Background playback.
- Offline downloads.
- YouTube Music Premium access.
- Benefits across supported YouTube apps and devices.
See the plan categories in YouTube’s subscription help and feature details in YouTube’s Premium and Music Premium help page. Creator-read sponsorships, product placements and other promotions embedded in a video can still appear.

Premium versus Premium Lite
Premium Lite was reported at R$16.90 per month in Brazil by Canaltech and TecMundo. It is not simply “YouTube without ads.”
| Feature | Premium | Premium Lite |
|---|---|---|
| Ads | Removed from supported YouTube content, apart from creator-inserted promotions | Removed from most eligible videos; ads can remain in music, Shorts, search, browsing and excluded content |
| YouTube Music Premium | Included | Not included |
| Background playback | Included | Reported for supported Lite content; verify the current scope on your account |
| Offline downloads | Included | Reported for supported content; verify availability |
| Reported Brazil price | R$26.90 Individual | R$16.90 |
Lite is most suitable for people who mainly watch ordinary videos and already use Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer or another music service. Music-heavy, Shorts-heavy or completely ad-free users are better served by full Premium.

- Cards are shipped active and ready for use.
- This card is non-reloadable. No cash or ATM access. Funds do not expire. If available funds remain on your card after the valid thru date has passed, please call customer service for a replacement card. A one-time purchase fee applies at the time of checkout. No fees after purchase.
- Double check if the URL/website is genuine before entering card details online. Do not provide any gift card details (example: claim code) to someone you do not know or trust. There are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
- If you believe that your Card has been lost or stolen, notify Mastercard immediately by calling 1-833-791-7288. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
Which plan fits your situation?
Individual Premium
Choose it when one person wants full ad-free viewing, YouTube Music, background playback and downloads without relying on a household group.
Family
YouTube’s Family plan covers the administrator plus up to five additional members—six people total—who are expected to live in the same household. At six members, R$53.90 is about R$8.98 per person each month. With only two members, it is about R$26.95 each, slightly more than two Individual subscriptions. Sharing with friends at different addresses is not the intended use. See Canaltech’s report on household enforcement and YouTube’s official plan rules.

- Easy to use: With a Google Play gift code, you never have to worry about expiration dates or fees.

Student
The Student plan is for full-time students at approved higher-education institutions and may require annual third-party verification. At the reported R$16.90 monthly price, it offers the full Premium package and is generally stronger value than Lite when you qualify.
Premium Lite
Pick Lite if the lower price matters more than complete ad removal and you already have music covered elsewhere.

How to check the exact price Google will charge
- Sign in to YouTube with the Google account that owns the subscription.
- Open Purchases and subscriptions.
- Select YouTube Premium.
- Review the recurring amount, next billing date, payment method and any confirmation request.
- If you subscribed through another platform, also inspect that platform’s billing account.
YouTube specifically directs subscribers to this page because prices can vary by market, taxes, subscription state and offer. Android subscriptions purchased through Google Play are billed by Google Play; do not assume that a web checkout and an in-app checkout will show identical amounts.
Should you subscribe, downgrade or cancel?
- Subscribe to Individual if you need the complete video and music package for one person.
- Use Family only when several eligible household members will actually use separate accounts.
- Use Student if you pass verification and want full Premium at the reported student rate.
- Downgrade to Lite if you mainly watch non-music videos and accept remaining ads.
- Cancel carefully: access normally continues through the paid period, but resubscribing can mean losing a grandfathered or promotional price.
