Class of ’83 was a Netflix exclusive
Netflix announced Class of ’83 as an exclusive release. The police drama is set in early-1980s Bombay and stars Bobby Deol as Dean Vijay Singh, a police officer who becomes an instructor.

Singh trains five young cadets to confront corruption and the criminal underworld. Atul Sabharwal directed the film, which was produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and adapted from S. Hussain Zaidi’s nonfiction book Class of ’83: The Punishers of Mumbai Police. Netflix’s announcement confirmed the premiere date, while a separate Netflix feature detailed the film’s premise and production.
Sadak 2 moved to Disney+ Hotstar
Sadak 2 is a sequel to Mahesh Bhatt’s 1991 film Sadak. The cast included Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur, with Dutt returning as Ravi. The story follows Ravi as he becomes involved with a young woman while facing a spiritual figure portrayed as the antagonist; Makarand Deshpande and Gulshan Grover were also part of the cast.

Disney+ Hotstar had been identified as the film’s streaming platform on June 29, 2020, but the exact date was not confirmed until the August announcement. Contemporary reports described the service as Disney+ Hotstar, with some promotional material using the period label Disney+ Hotstar VIP. The June report covered the platform decision; Indian Express later reported the date.

The two premieres came during the COVID-19 disruption of India’s theatrical exhibition. Major Hindi productions were increasingly bypassing or departing from theatrical-first plans in favor of direct digital launches. The announcement illustrated two platform strategies: Netflix presented Class of ’83 as a global original exclusive, while Disney+ Hotstar added a high-profile Bollywood sequel to its India-focused direct-to-digital slate.
