Try 192.168.0.1 first to open a Technicolor router’s local administration page. It is a well-supported starting address, not a universal default: some ISP-supplied Technicolor routers use 192.168.1.1, and some older models use 192.168.1.254. The reliable answer is the Default Gateway or Router address reported by a device connected to the network.
Technicolor router IP addresses to try
Enter each address in your browser’s address bar, not in a search box. Start with http://192.168.0.1; if it does not open, check your device’s gateway address rather than continuing to guess.
| Address | When it may apply |
|---|---|
192.168.0.1 |
A strong first choice. The Technicolor TC8717T guide identifies it as the gateway’s default address and directs users to browse to it: TC8717T user guide. An ISP support page also documents this address for the CGA4234DGW: NCF CGA4234DGW guide. |
192.168.1.1 |
Used by some provider-supplied models. KCOM documents it for its Technicolor DGA4231 and DGA2231 routers: KCOM router instructions. |
192.168.1.254 |
An address found in some older Technicolor Gateway manuals: Technicolor Gateway manual. |
These examples establish that addresses vary by model and provider; they do not establish a manufacturer-wide statistical ranking. A model-specific manual or your internet provider’s instructions take precedence over a generic address list.
Find the correct address on your device
The router’s local IP—also called its LAN address or default gateway—is the address to use for local administration. It is different from your computer or phone’s own device IP and from the public/WAN IP assigned by your ISP.

Windows
- Connect to the Technicolor network over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Open Command Prompt and run
ipconfig. - Find the active Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter and read the number beside Default Gateway.
- Enter that number in your browser, for example
http://192.168.1.1.
For a shorter output, run ipconfig | findstr /i "Default Gateway". Microsoft’s Windows Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide also uses the Default Gateway address when checking a router connection.
macOS
Open System Settings → Wi-Fi → Details → TCP/IP and read Router. With Ethernet, open the active Ethernet connection’s details and check TCP/IP. Menu wording can vary by macOS release. In Terminal, you can also run route -n get default | grep gateway; the output includes the gateway address.

Open the Technicolor login page
- Make sure your device is connected to the Technicolor gateway’s Wi-Fi or LAN—not just the internet through an unrelated network.
- Open a web browser and enter the confirmed gateway address, such as
http://192.168.0.1. - When the login page appears, use the credentials on the router label, provided by your ISP, or listed in the manual for your exact model.
Credentials are not universal. The TC8717T guide lists username admin and password password for that documented model context; do not assume they apply to another Technicolor router. Its quick-install guide shows the same credentials for that family and advises changing the default password.
If the address does not open
- Use the reported gateway. If your connected device shows a different Default Gateway or Router address, try that address instead of the common examples. A changed LAN address replaces the factory default; the TC8717T guide explicitly instructs users to use the new address if it has been changed.
- Check which network you joined. Confirm you are connected to the Technicolor router rather than a guest network, extender, mesh system, access point, or second router. Temporarily disconnect a VPN, and on a phone turn off mobile data while testing. Ethernet can help rule out Wi-Fi isolation.
- Try the appropriate web protocol. Test
http://and, if needed,https://with the confirmed address. Older gateways may use HTTP; firmware may redirect to HTTPS. If a certificate warning appears, first verify that you are connected to your own router and using its expected private address. Do not treat certificate warnings as generally safe to ignore. - Test local reachability on Windows. Run
ping 192.168.0.1, replacing the example with your reported gateway. Replies mean the device can reach that address, though the browser or management interface may still be the issue. A timeout can mean the address is wrong, the router blocks ping, or the connection is not to that gateway. “Destination host unreachable” suggests there may not be a valid local connection. Microsoft describes gateway ping as a router troubleshooting check in its Windows guidance. - Check for bridge mode or another router. In bridge mode, the Technicolor unit may act as a modem while a separate router handles routing and Wi-Fi. The device’s gateway may therefore belong to that separate router, and the Technicolor management options may differ. The CGA4234DGW provider guide distinguishes routed and bridge modes.
- If no gateway is listed, restore the local connection first. The device may be disconnected, DHCP may have failed, the adapter may be disabled, or the network may be isolated. On Windows, an address beginning with
169.254can indicate that the device did not obtain a normal address from the router; see Microsoft’s DHCP and connection troubleshooting guidance. - Ask the ISP about managed equipment. ISP firmware can use provider-specific addresses, hide settings, or limit local administration. Check the router label and ISP instructions using the exact model number.
Should you factory-reset the router?
Use a factory reset only as a last resort, especially for ISP-supplied or rented equipment. A reset can erase the Wi-Fi name and password, port-forwarding rules, DNS settings, parental controls, ISP-specific configuration, and bridge or routing settings. The TC8717T quick-install guide says a reset deletes configuration changes, while older Technicolor manuals describe a different reset procedure. The required button-hold time is model-specific; do not apply one model’s timing to another.
