These were launch-period offers, not verified August 2026 deals. The $449 Apple Watch price was associated with restored/refurbished Ultra 2 listings, while the “first deal” on Apple’s official iPhone 16 Pro cases referred to a specific case and color rather than every Apple case. Check the listing’s model, condition, seller, warranty and stock before paying.
Apple opened iPhone 16 Pro preorders on September 13, 2024, and put the iPhone 16 lineup and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in stores on September 20, 2024. See Apple’s launch announcements: preorder and product details and retail availability.
What the two offers were worth
| Product | What is established | What must be verified | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Watch | Restored/refurbished Apple Watch Ultra 2 configurations appeared around $449, including GPS + Cellular examples. | Generation, case and band, seller, battery health, accessories, warranty, returns, tax, shipping and any carrier requirement. | Potentially good only when the exact listing and condition are clear. |
| Official iPhone 16 Pro case | A launch-era discount was reported as an early deal on Apple’s first-party cases. | Exact case family, color, regular price, sale price, retailer, inventory, delivery and Camera Control design. | Useful for first-party fit, but not automatically the best value. |
The $449 figure is documented in Walmart Restored Apple search results, not as proof that a new Apple Watch Ultra 2 was sold for that amount or that the offer remains active. The listings can be checked at Walmart’s restored Apple page and its additional restored listings. A contemporary deal report also covered discounts on both the original Ultra and Ultra 2, so the generation cannot be inferred from the headline alone: 9to5Mac’s December 2024 coverage.
How to verify the $449 Apple Watch
Confirm the generation and configuration
- Apple Watch Ultra: the first generation launched in 2022.
- Apple Watch Ultra 2: launched in 2023; Apple introduced a black-titanium option in the 2024 cycle.
- Confirm the 49mm case, band model and size, and whether the listing is GPS + Cellular.
“Apple Watch Ultra” without a generation is not sufficient. A first-generation Ultra at $449 may be reasonable, but it is a materially different purchase from an Ultra 2.

Read the condition and seller language
Restored, renewed, open-box and used are different conditions. A refurbished listing may not include Apple’s warranty, original packaging or every original accessory. Verify battery-health disclosure, charger and band inclusion, serial-number or activation status, return window and the name of the actual seller. A marketplace guarantee is not the same as Apple warranty coverage.
Account for cellular service
GPS + Cellular hardware does not make service free. Cellular use normally requires a compatible paired iPhone, supported carrier and an eligible plan with recurring fees. Check carrier compatibility before choosing the cellular configuration.
What you still get from an older Ultra
Apple describes Ultra 2 with a 49mm titanium case, up to 36 hours of regular-use battery life and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode. It also provides an Action button, rugged construction, outdoor workout functions, GPS and Cellular capability, and water-depth and temperature sensing where supported. Apple’s launch specifications and watchOS 11 context are documented in its September 2024 announcement.

Buy cautiously if you need maximum battery health, the longest remaining software-support horizon, the newest processor or display features, a smaller/lighter watch, or the latest health and safety capabilities. Compare the restored price with a new successor and a certified-refurbished equivalent rather than calculating savings from an obsolete launch MSRP.
What “the first official iPhone 16 Pro case deal” means
The case promotion must be tied to one exact Apple product and color. Available evidence does not establish a single sale price that applies to every official iPhone 16 Pro case, nor does it verify a current August 2026 offer. Capture the live product page immediately before publication; do not treat a search snippet or an old deal article as current inventory.
Check compatibility before ordering
- iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max cases are not interchangeable.
- Cases for iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus do not fit the Pro models.
- An iPhone 15 Pro case is not automatically compatible with iPhone 16 Pro.
Apple made Camera Control a defining iPhone 16 feature. A case may use a covered responsive surface, an open cutout or a design that obstructs the control. Confirm which approach the exact case uses. Also verify MagSafe support; a case can support MagSafe while still offering weaker attachment with some accessories.

When Apple’s case premium makes sense
An official case is attractive when you want precise fit, Apple’s Camera Control treatment, MagSafe integration and direct first-party support. Silicone and clear materials can show fingerprints, scratches or yellowing, and Apple’s designs may provide less grip, front-edge protection or drop protection than rugged alternatives. If the discount is small, the premium is harder to justify.
Official versus third-party alternatives
| Type | Best for | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Apple official case | Exact fit, first-party design, Camera Control and MagSafe integration. | Higher price; often less rugged protection and grip. |
| Rugged third-party case | Travel, cycling, hiking and frequent drops. | More bulk; possible MagSafe-strength or Camera Control compromises. |
| Thin or aramid-fiber case | Minimal bulk and the phone’s original feel. | Limited impact and front-edge protection; can still be expensive. |
| Clear case | Showing the iPhone’s finish. | Fingerprints, scratches and possible yellowing. |
For alternatives, check the exact model at OtterBox, Spigen or ESR. Confirm Camera Control access and MagSafe performance for the specific case, not just the product family.

Buy now
Buy the watch only when the listing identifies Ultra 2 (or makes an unusually strong case for the original Ultra), clearly states its condition, provides acceptable returns and discloses battery and accessories. Buy the Apple case when its exact model, compatibility, sale price and MagSafe/Camera Control treatment are confirmed and you value first-party fit.

Wait
Wait when the watch is close in price to a newer model, the case discount is modest, or stock and delivery are unclear. Launch-period case prices usually broaden after more third-party options arrive.
Skip
Skip a watch listing that omits generation, uses only stock photos, offers no battery-health information, comes from an unclear marketplace seller or has activation/carrier uncertainty. Skip the official case when maximum drop protection, a kickstand, belt clip or the lowest price matters more than Apple’s fit and integration.

This is a historical September–December 2024 deal context, not a claim that either offer is live on August 18, 2026. Prices, inventory, condition, delivery dates, warranties and return terms can change; verify them on the retailer’s page before checkout.
