Chipolo announced its ONE Point key finder and CARD Point wallet tracker on April 8, 2024, as accessories for Google’s new Find My Device network. The products shipped later that year, but Chipolo discontinued the Point line in 2025. Google’s service is now branded Find Hub, and Chipolo’s newer POP, LOOP and CARD trackers are the current options.
What Chipolo announced
The ONE Point was a round tracker for keys and bags, with a built-in keyring hole. The CARD Point was a slim, credit-card-style tracker intended for a wallet. Both were designed exclusively for Google’s Find My Device app and network—not Apple Find My or Chipolo’s standard companion app. The “Point” name mattered: an ordinary Chipolo ONE or CARD was not automatically compatible with Google’s network. Chipolo’s Point product page described the models as Android-only.
The timing was significant. Google announced the expanded Find My Device experience on April 8, 2024, initially rolling it out in the United States and Canada. Google said its crowdsourced network included more than one billion Android devices. That figure describes the potential network, not a promise that a billion phones will be near any particular lost tracker. Google’s launch announcement explains the network and its rollout.
How Google’s tracker network found items
Nearby: ring the tracker
When the tracker was within Bluetooth range, its owner could use the app to make it play a sound. This is local finding: Bluetooth connects the phone and tracker, and the sound helps locate an item nearby. It does not provide precision finding through ultra-wideband.

Far away: rely on nearby Android devices
The tracker itself had no GPS or cellular connection. When it was out of the owner’s Bluetooth range, other participating Android devices could detect its Bluetooth signal and anonymously relay an approximate location. The app then showed the most recent network-reported location, which might not be current. Updates depend on participating devices passing near the item; this is not continuous live tracking or guaranteed recovery.
Google said crowdsourced location data was end-to-end encrypted and described safeguards including unknown-tracker alerts and manual scanning. Its safety announcement covers these protections: Google’s Android safety features.

ONE Point and CARD Point specifications
The following figures were manufacturer specifications announced by Chipolo, not independent test results. Battery life was stated as “up to” the listed duration.
| Specification | ONE Point | CARD Point |
|---|---|---|
| Intended use | Keys, bags and luggage | Wallets |
| Sound rating | Chipolo-rated 120 dB | Chipolo-rated 105 dB |
| Battery life | Up to 1 year | Up to 2 years |
| Battery arrangement | Replaceable battery | Renewal program, not normal user replacement |
| Water resistance | IPX5 | IPX5 |
| Color | Off-white | Off-white |
| Thickness | Not stated in the announcement | 0.90 in / 2.4 mm |
| Owner’s phone ecosystem | Android only | Android only |
IPX5 indicates protection against water jets, not suitability for immersion. The CARD Point’s longer stated battery life came with a trade-off: owners could not replace its battery in the usual way and instead had a renewal program.

Compatibility and setup
Google said the Find My Device experience supported phones running Android 9 or later. The phone also needed a supported Android environment with Google Play Services, Bluetooth, location services and internet access. Features and availability could vary by country, age eligibility and rollout. An iPhone could receive compatible unwanted-tracker alerts, but it could not be used as the owner’s normal setup and tracking phone for a Point tracker. The products were not Apple Find My accessories.
Chipolo advertised a Fast Pair-style setup: press the tracker button and follow the setup pop-up on the Android phone. If it did not appear, use the add-device or add-accessory option in the Find My Device app; labels and menus can vary by phone and software version.

- Rechargeable: LOOP is a rechargeable tracker that works with any USB-C charger, so you don’t have to deal with the hassle of replacing batteries. The battery lasts up to 1 year on a single charge. Charger is not included.
- Works with iOS or Android - Chipolo LOOP is universally compatible and works with the Apple Find My or Google’s Find Hub network. Both networks are made up of millions of Apple or Android devices, which means you can find your missing item almost anywhere in the world.
- Find nearby & far away – Ring your LOOP to locate your items with the help of a very loud sound when they’re hidden nearby. If your item is far away, locate it on the map with the help of a global network, Apple Find My or Find Hub on Android.
- Loud: With a very loud sound that reaches 125 dB, LOOP is easily heard from rooms away, which makes finding your essentials much easier and faster.
- Extra features (via free Chipolo companion app) – Call Your Phone (even if it’s on silent), Out of Range Alerts for Android devices (receive a notification when you leave your items behind), Take a Selfie (use LOOP as a remote camera shutter), Change Ringtone, and more.
- Confirm the Android phone meets the compatibility requirements, then turn on Bluetooth and location services and connect to the internet.
- Keep the Point tracker close to the phone and press its button once.
- Follow the on-screen prompt to add it to Find My Device. If no prompt appears, open the app and use its add-device or add-accessory flow.
- Rename the tracker for the item it will follow, attach or place it, then test “Play sound” while it is nearby.
Privacy and unwanted-tracker alerts
Network encryption protects the location reports described by Google, while unwanted-tracker alerts address the risk that someone else’s tag is moving with you. Google said its alerts were designed to work across Android and iOS with compatible Bluetooth trackers. Android also offered manual scanning and guidance for disabling an unwanted tracker. These protections do not make the Point models owner-controlled trackers on iPhones. Alerts can also produce false positives in legitimate shared-item situations, so households sharing belongings should understand how the tracker and its account are set up.

What replaced the Point line
Chipolo discontinued Point and Spot in 2025 and replaced those lines with POP, LOOP and CARD. The newer products can be set up with either Apple Find My or Google Find Hub, the current Google brand for its finding network; they generally work with one network at a time, not both simultaneously. Chipolo describes the transition in its Point product update.
| Current option | Best suited to | Notable manufacturer-stated features |
|---|---|---|
| Chipolo POP | Keys and bags; a conventional tag with replaceable battery | CR2032 battery, about one year of claimed life, about 120 dB sound rating, IP55, multiple colors |
| Chipolo LOOP | Keys, bags and luggage when USB-C charging and an integrated loop are preferred | Up to one year per charge, about 125 dB sound rating, claimed Bluetooth range up to 120 m / 400 ft, IP67 |
| Chipolo CARD | Wallets | Qi wireless charging, about one year of claimed battery life, about 110 dB sound rating, IP67 |
The sound, range and battery figures in this table are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements. For a rechargeable Google Find Hub alternative, Pebblebee was among the partners Google identified; see Pebblebee’s Find Hub page. Tile is another established tracker brand, but compatibility with Google Find Hub should be checked for the exact model rather than assumed; Google named Tile among the ecosystem partners in its safety announcement, and Tile’s official site is tile.com.
Limits and troubleshooting
Remote location is missing or stale
The network is opportunistic: a tracker needs nearby participating Android devices to report its signal. Quiet rural areas, enclosed buildings, underground locations, shielding, disabled Bluetooth or airplane mode can reduce or delay reports. A location pin may mark the last detection rather than the item’s present location. Google’s description supports crowdsourced finding, not worldwide live tracking: Find My Device launch details.
Fast Pair does not appear
- Recheck Android version, Google Play Services, Bluetooth, location services and internet access.
- Move the tracker close to the phone and press its button once.
- Toggle Bluetooth or restart the phone, then open Find My Device and try its add-device flow.
- Consider whether the tracker was previously associated with another account. Reset only as a last resort; reset steps may differ by hardware revision and resetting can remove the existing association.
The tracker is shown nearby but will not ring
Local ringing and remote location are separate functions. A recent network location does not prove the battery is still able to power a sound. Check for a weak or exhausted battery, disabled Bluetooth, physical shielding, distance beyond practical Bluetooth range, app or Play Services updates, or an association with another account.

When a tracker is the wrong tool
Neither Point model was a substitute for a GPS vehicle tracker, theft-recovery system or emergency locator. Sparse network traffic, a depleted battery or radio interference can prevent useful updates, and no Bluetooth tag can guarantee that a lost or stolen item will be recovered.
