Short answer: Solos AirGo Vision glasses are camera-equipped, open-ear smart glasses that send voice prompts and captured images through the Solos AirGo phone app to cloud AI services. They can answer questions, interpret pictures, translate, and read notifications aloud, but they are not AR glasses: there is no in-lens display or floating ChatGPT text. The original model launched at $299 (or $349 for a US bundle with three frame fronts), while Solos now positions the camera platform as AirGo V and sells AirGo V2 as the newer generation.
That naming and stock situation matters in 2026. Solos’ store lists AirGo V at $299 but shows listed variants as unavailable, while AirGo V2 models are listed at $299. Treat any remaining AirGo V/AirGo Vision stock as an older product whose warranty, firmware support and app compatibility should be confirmed before payment.
What are Solos AirGo Vision glasses?
AirGo Vision combines conventional, prescription-ready eyewear with open-ear directional stereo speakers, a temple-mounted camera, touch controls and Bluetooth connectivity. The Solos AirGo app on your iPhone or Android phone provides the control interface and connects requests to cloud services such as OpenAI models.
“Vision” refers to the camera and image-understanding workflow, not augmented reality. You look through ordinary lenses and hear the answer through the speakers or read details in the phone app. Solos’ current product-family naming separates the older camera model (AirGo Vision/AirGo V), the newer camera model (AirGo V2), and audio-only lines such as AirGo 3 and AirGo A5.

How the ChatGPT-style assistant actually works
The glasses are an input and audio-output device, not a standalone ChatGPT computer. A typical request follows this chain:
- You press the virtual button or use the supported touch control and speak.
- The glasses send audio, or a captured still image, to the Solos AirGo app over Bluetooth.
- The app sends the request through your phone’s internet connection to the enabled cloud AI service.
- The response returns to the app and is spoken through the glasses; conversation history and copied text can also appear in the app.
Consequently, a dead phone connection, disabled permission, lost internet access, suspended app or unavailable AI service can stop the assistant. GPT-4o was named in 2024 launch coverage, but model selection is server-side and can change without a hardware revision. The current app listing describes multiple AI models, multimodal interaction and real-time web search rather than guaranteeing one permanent model. See the app capabilities at Solos’ AirGo app page and the App Store listing.
What can the camera and AI do?
Image questions and recognition
You can capture a still image and ask the assistant to describe a scene, read visible text, identify an object or answer a question about what the camera sees. This is probabilistic interpretation, not guaranteed identification. Small print, low light, reflections, blocked objects and unfamiliar products increase error risk.

Available AirGo Vision/AirGo V descriptions support image capture followed by analysis. They do not establish continuous live-video streaming to ChatGPT for the original model. Do not buy it expecting an always-watching visual feed or hands-free navigation that continuously understands your surroundings.
Search, translation and communication
Solos lists voice search, SolosTranslate, text and image interactions, and notification features. Whisper Messages and Whisper Events can read selected messages and calendar events through the speakers, with integrations described for services such as text messaging, WhatsApp, Teams and calendars. Translation quality depends on internet access, language support, accents, overlapping speech and microphone conditions; Solos’ translation overview is at solosglasses.com/pages/solostranslate.
Do they have a display?
No. The documented hardware consists of a camera, speakers and indicator LEDs; it does not describe an in-lens screen or heads-up overlay. ChatGPT answers are heard through open-ear audio or viewed on the phone. This makes AirGo Vision fundamentally different from display-based AR hardware.

Specifications and battery claims
| Specification | Published information and qualification |
|---|---|
| Camera | AirGo V product material lists maximum image resolution of 2048 × 1944; this is a resolution figure, not a promise of phone-camera image quality. |
| Audio | Open-ear directional stereo speakers with Solos’ Whisper speech/noise-reduction technology. Whisper is not the same as full active noise cancellation. |
| Controls | Touch sensor and virtual action button, with exact gestures dependent on firmware and app version. |
| Charging | USB-C charging. |
| Water resistance | IP67 is listed for the AirGo V family. Confirm the rating for the exact variant; IP67 is not permission to swim or deliberately submerge the glasses. |
| Runtime | Solos claims about 10 hours of music streaming or 7 hours of phone calls. Camera capture, AI requests, calls, high volume and weak Bluetooth conditions can reduce runtime substantially. |
| Connectivity | Bluetooth connection to a compatible iOS or Android phone; cloud AI requires internet access. |
| Frames and lenses | Interchangeable fronts and prescription-ready configurations are offered, but lens type, optical work and price vary by listing. |
Hardware figures come from Solos’ AirGo V product page: Krypton 2 AirGo V and the AirGo V collection. Solos also cites maximum volume up to 100 dB in AirGo-related materials; prolonged listening near that level can damage hearing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Compatibility and setup
Solos lists iOS 11 or later and Android 8.0 or later, although current store requirements may be newer. Check the live App Store or Google Play listing for your phone before buying.
- Install the Solos AirGo app and sign in or create an account.
- Charge the glasses and enable Bluetooth.
- Pair from inside the Solos app rather than relying only on the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Grant microphone, camera, notifications, location and photo permissions required by the features you intend to use.
- Update the app and glasses firmware.
- Test music, the action button, camera capture and an AI response separately.
- Check the active AI model and whether Basic or Premium is enabled.
- Test translation and notification reading in the environment where you expect to use them.
What is in the box?
Package contents vary by exact retail kit. A Solos kit listing identifies glasses, a protective case, magnetic USB charging cable, manual, cleaning cloth and soft pouch. Treat that as an example rather than a guarantee for every AirGo Vision or AirGo V package; confirm the seller’s box contents. See the example listing.
Limitations, privacy and troubleshooting
When the AI stops responding
- Check the phone’s internet connection and the Bluetooth status in the Solos app.
- Force-close and reopen the app, then restart the phone and glasses.
- Recheck microphone, camera, Bluetooth and notification permissions.
- Install pending app or firmware updates.
- Unpair and pair again, ensuring the glasses are not connected to another phone.
- Contact Solos support if the service still fails.
Camera and cloud privacy
Tell people before photographing or recording them where local law or social norms require it. Images may travel through the phone and cloud AI services; review Solos’ privacy policy and the relevant AI provider’s terms separately. Avoid photographing confidential documents, children, private conversations or sensitive workplaces. The available material does not establish that image processing is fully on-device.
Audio and battery trade-offs
Open-ear speakers preserve awareness of traffic and conversation but compete with wind and noise, leak some sound and may require repeats in loud places. Advertised runtime is activity-dependent, not a guaranteed full day of camera-and-AI use; carry the charging cable.
AI accuracy and safety
Do not rely on visual answers for medical, legal, financial, emergency or safety-critical decisions. The assistant can misread text, confuse objects, misunderstand speech or invent an explanation.
User reviews in the App Store include reports of inconsistent responses and AI-session problems. Those are individual reports, not proof that every unit behaves that way, but they justify testing the app during the return period.

For a new purchase, AirGo V2 is the logical comparison because Solos lists it at the same $299 price as AirGo V. Choose remaining AirGo V stock only when the seller confirms availability, warranty, firmware support and compatibility, and when the discount compensates for older hardware. Neither line provides an AR display or guaranteed offline operation.
Quick Recap
Which Solos model fits?
- Choose AirGo V2 if you want the current camera-enabled Solos platform and multimodal AI.
- Consider AirGo V/AirGo Vision only with verified stock and support at a meaningfully lower effective cost.
- Choose AirGo 3 if you want audio AI, translation and notifications without a camera.
- Choose AirGo A5 if your priority is newer audio-focused hardware rather than visual AI.
- Skip the Solos range if you need an in-lens display, independent operation without a phone, offline ChatGPT or professional-grade recognition.
