Dell’s US deals page lists an Alienware Aurora ACT1250 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F, GeForce RTX 5070, 32GB DDR5, 1TB SSD and Windows 11 Home for $1,899.99, against a listed estimated value of $2,829.99. That is a $930 difference on Dell’s listing—not proof that it beats equivalent PCs by $930. At about $1,900, it is worth considering if you want a ready-to-use 1080p or 1440p gaming desktop and do not need enthusiast-level upgrade flexibility. Check the exact configuration and cart price before buying; Aurora prices have varied.
What does the Alienware Aurora deal include?
The documented offer is for the Aurora ACT1250 on Dell’s US deals page. The configuration is more important than the headline discount: changing the GPU, storage, cooling or power supply can change both the price and the system’s suitability.

Is the $930 discount a genuine saving?
It is the difference between Dell’s $1,899.99 sale listing and its $2,829.99 estimated value. That calculation does not establish that the same PC normally sells for $2,829.99 elsewhere, or that it is $930 cheaper than a comparable gaming desktop. Treat “estimated value” as Dell’s comparison figure, not an independent market-price check.

Other listings show why checking the exact configuration and date matters. Tom’s Guide’s deal roundup, updated August 4, 2026, listed an Aurora with an RTX 5070 for $2,229, down from $2,829. Dell’s broader Aurora page lists the family starting at $1,849.99, which may be a different, lower-spec configuration. These figures are not necessarily prices for the same exact build.
- At about $1,900 for the RTX 5070, 32GB and 1TB configuration, the Aurora is a reasonable candidate for buyers prioritizing convenience and brand support.
- Near $2,200, compare standard prebuilts with the same GPU and similar memory, storage, warranty and Windows configuration.
- Above roughly $2,300, the value case weakens unless the Aurora’s actual build adds worthwhile components such as more storage, a stronger power supply or different cooling. These are editorial comparison guidelines, not verified market-price rules.
For a fair comparison, match the GPU first, then account for memory, storage, power supply, cooling, Windows and support. A different configuration at a lower headline price is not a like-for-like alternative.
What gaming performance should you expect?
The RTX 5070 configuration is best viewed as a strong 1080p system and a practical 1440p option, with results depending on the game and settings. It is not a promise of maximum settings, high frame rates or native 4K in every title. Ray tracing, resolution, graphics preset, upscaling and frame generation can all change performance substantially.

WIRED tested an Aurora review system with an RTX 5070 and found it about 5% behind a typical RTX 5070 result in 3DMark Steel Nomad. In its game testing, that review system reached 71 frames per second in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with Ray Tracing Ultra and DLSS disabled; Black Myth: Wukong did not exceed 60 fps at 1080p in the review’s testing. Those are results for the tested review configuration and conditions, not guaranteed frame rates for every ACT1250 or game.

If 4K gaming is your priority, compare an RTX 5080-class system or be prepared to adjust settings and use upscaling rather than assuming this RTX 5070 build will deliver high-refresh native 4K.
Which configuration details should you check?
Before checkout, verify that the cart still contains the deal configuration. Dell’s wider Aurora range includes different component options, and the selected parts affect performance, upgrade options and price.

- GPU: Confirm it is the RTX 5070. For gaming, the graphics card generally matters more than paying extra for a faster CPU while keeping the same GPU.
- Power supply: Check the wattage and whether a 1,000W option is available and affordable. WIRED recommends that option for buyers who want to leave room for a future graphics-card upgrade; it is not established as part of the $1,899.99 deal configuration.
- Storage: The listed 1TB SSD is usable, but may fill quickly if you keep a large modern-game library installed. Compare the cost of a larger SSD at purchase with the price and effort of adding storage later.
- Memory: The deal lists 32GB DDR5, a sensible capacity for a new gaming PC. The listing does not establish the number of memory modules or how convenient expansion will be, so verify the layout and system support if you expect to upgrade.
- Cooling: Check whether the specific build uses air or liquid CPU cooling. Dell lists up to 240mm liquid cooling across the Aurora family; that does not mean every configuration, including this deal, has it.
- Final cart: Recheck CPU, GPU, memory, SSD, power supply, cooling, Windows edition and total price after any customization. Do not treat taxes, shipping, accessories or optional financing as part of the advertised cash discount unless the checkout terms confirm them.
How upgradeable is the Aurora?
The Aurora can be a good fit if you expect to use it largely as configured, but it is not equivalent to a conventional ATX tower for long-term platform changes. TechRadar identifies the ACT1250’s proprietary motherboard and limited upgradeability as drawbacks. WIRED notes that a future graphics-card upgrade may be possible with the 1,000W power supply, but physical clearance and power needs still matter.
- Do not assume that replacing the graphics card means standard motherboard, case or cooling swaps will be equally straightforward.
- Proprietary components and restricted internal space can narrow future choices or make upgrades less convenient.
- For frequent CPU, motherboard, case or cooling changes, a standard-component prebuilt or a DIY system is the better starting point.
- If your likely upgrade is simply more game storage, verify the available expansion options for the exact build rather than assuming a particular slot or layout.
Dell describes the Aurora family as a 36-liter mid-sized tower. Its family page lists configurations up to a Core Ultra 9 285K, RTX 5080, 64GB memory and 8TB storage, but those maximum options should not be confused with the discounted RTX 5070 build.
What about noise and temperatures?
Dell markets the current Aurora family with optimized airflow and improved acoustics, and lists up to 240mm liquid CPU cooling. That product-level description is not a measured noise or temperature result for the specific deal configuration. The available ACT1250 review evidence is not enough to call every configuration definitively quiet or cool.

Older Aurora reviews are not direct tests of this ACT1250. Digital Trends reported thermal improvements in the Aurora R15 over earlier Alienware desktops, while still noting upgrade concerns and the importance of cooling configuration. Use that review as historical context, not as a measurement of the current system.

It makes sense if
- You want a ready-to-use gaming desktop and value Dell support, Alienware styling and a prebuilt system over choosing and assembling parts.
- You mainly play at 1080p or 1440p and are comfortable adjusting settings in demanding games.
- The exact RTX 5070, 32GB, 1TB configuration remains around $1,900 at checkout.
- You do not expect to replace the motherboard, case or cooling platform over the next few upgrade cycles.
Compare alternatives or skip it if
- You want maximum value per dollar or a conventional, easier-to-modify ATX platform.
- You plan frequent platform upgrades, or the deal’s power supply, memory layout or cooling does not suit your plans.
- You need substantially more than 1TB of storage immediately and the upgrade makes the total price unattractive.
- You are buying primarily for 4K gaming or demanding ray tracing and would rather put the budget toward a higher graphics tier.
- The final price is well above the advertised amount or the cart has silently shifted to a different configuration.
What are the alternatives?
A standard-component prebuilt
A standard ATX or mid-tower prebuilt may make motherboard, power-supply, cooling and case replacements more straightforward, and may offer better value with the same GPU. The trade-offs can include less distinctive styling and different support or build quality. Compare exact configurations rather than assuming every competing desktop is better.
A DIY gaming PC
Building your own system offers more component transparency and control over upgrade paths. It also means selecting parts, assembly, operating-system setup and troubleshooting, with warranties handled across component vendors. It is a stronger option for a technically confident buyer than for someone whose main priority is convenience.

Alienware Area-51
Dell positions the Area-51 above the Aurora. Its family comparison lists an 80-liter tower, up to RTX 5090 graphics, up to 360mm liquid cooling, up to 64GB memory and up to 4TB storage, with a listed starting price around $4,079.99. It is aimed at buyers seeking a much larger, higher-performance Alienware system—not shoppers looking for value near $1,900.
Verdict
At roughly $1,900, the Aurora ACT1250 RTX 5070 configuration is worth considering for a buyer who wants a supported, ready-to-use 1080p/1440p PC and accepts a less flexible upgrade path. The $930 figure is Dell’s difference between its listed price and estimated value, not proof of savings against the market. If the price climbs materially, or you want standard components, more storage or 4K-first performance, compare equivalent prebuilts before committing.
