For the original Samsung Galaxy S20, the most useful accessories are a correctly sized case, a screen protector that works with its ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and a compatible USB-C charger. Add a microSD card, power bank, car mount, or DeX hub only if it fits how you use the phone. This guide focuses on the base S20—not the S20+, S20 Ultra, or S20 FE—and prioritizes compatibility over buying all ten.
Check your exact Galaxy S20 model first
“Galaxy S20” can refer to several different phones. Cases and screen protectors for the base S20 generally do not fit the S20+, S20 Ultra, or S20 FE because those models have different dimensions and camera layouts. Some product selectors group these variants together, so a collection-page title alone is not proof of fit.
Check Settings → About phone → Model name/model number before ordering. Confirm that the product selector is set to the base Galaxy S20 and, where a listing distinguishes them, your 4G/LTE or 5G variant. Carrier and unlocked versions may also be described differently by sellers. Samsung lists the base S20’s display as 6.2 inches measured diagonally across the full rectangle and its battery as 4,000mAh; do not use those figures to infer fit for another S20-family phone. Buying rule: Skip a listing that says only “Galaxy S20 series” unless you can select the exact model. Accessory availability can be uneven for a phone launched in 2020; third-party options are often more practical than seeking a discontinued original Samsung accessory. Used phones may also arrive without their original charger or earbuds, and their battery and port condition can vary.

Ultrasonic-fingerprint-compatible screen protector
Choose a protector whose manufacturer explicitly supports the base Galaxy S20’s ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. “Tempered glass” or a “9H” hardness claim does not establish that it will work with the sensor. Samsung’s S20 screen-protector guidance warns buyers to confirm fingerprint-sensor compatibility. A current product winner is not named here because a specific model’s support could not be established.

Install the protector carefully in a dust-free space, then register fingerprints again and test unlocking before discarding the old protector. If touch response is poor, enable increased touch sensitivity if that setting is available on your software version. A tight case can also lift a protector at the edges; choose compatible dimensions rather than forcing the fit.

25W USB-C charger: best wired-charging class for the base S20
The base S20 supports wired fast charging, and Samsung’s launch information identifies a 25W charger with the S20 series while associating 45W charging with the S20 Ultra. A compatible 25W USB-C charger is the sensible target for the base model; buying a 45W or 65W adapter will not make the phone charge at that rate. A higher-output USB-C PD charger may still be worthwhile if you also charge a laptop or tablet. Charging speed depends on the charger, cable, phone, and supported charging protocol. USB-C-to-USB-C cable: best charger companion
Pick a cable from a reputable manufacturer with USB-C connectors at both ends and a power rating suitable for your charger. If you will use it for file transfers or DeX, check that it supports data as well as charging. A large wattage number on an unbranded cable is not, by itself, a reason to trust it.

Qi wireless charging pad or stand: best for desk or bedside convenience
The S20 supports wireless charging, so a Qi-compatible pad or stand can make routine top-ups easier. Wired charging is generally the better choice when speed matters. Check that the case is not too thick and has no large metal plate or other component that interferes with charging. Samsung lists wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare among the S20’s supported features in its technical specifications.

USB-C power bank: best for travel and uncertain battery condition
A power bank is particularly useful with a used S20 because the condition of its internal battery may be unknown. For portability, consider a 10,000mAh class pack; for longer trips, a 20,000mAh class pack is a common larger option. Prefer USB-C input and output, USB Power Delivery or a charging mode compatible with Samsung phones, clear safety and warranty information, and a short, reliable cable. A higher wattage rating does not mean the phone will accept more power than it supports. A bank can extend runtime, but it cannot repair a degraded or damaged phone battery.

microSD card: best for removable media storage
Samsung’s S20 series datasheet lists microSD expansion up to 1TB. A card can suit photo and video libraries, downloads, and files you want to move between devices. Treat 1TB as the published maximum capacity, not a promise that every card performs equally. Buy from an established brand and a reputable seller with a clear return policy, and keep a separate backup: a memory card can fail. USB-C hub with video output: best for Samsung DeX
The S20 supports Samsung DeX, which can provide a desktop-style interface on a compatible monitor or TV. A practical setup may need a hub or USB-C-to-HDMI adapter, HDMI cable, display, and Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse. If you need peripherals, look for USB-A ports, USB-C power pass-through, and suitable cooling. Most importantly, verify explicit HDMI/video-output support: a hub that only provides charging and USB data is not a DeX display solution. Case-compatible car mount: best for navigation
A simple mount holds the phone but does not charge it; a charging mount combines the functions, usually with wireless charging. Choose a secure mounting method, one-handed insertion and removal, case clearance, useful portrait/landscape rotation, and cable routing that does not obstruct controls. Vent mounts can block airflow, while wireless models add sensitivity to case thickness, alignment, and cabin heat. A basic mount paired with a wired USB-C car charger may be a more dependable or less expensive setup than wireless charging in the car.
Choose a bundle only if it solves a real need
- Everyday protection: a base-S20 case and a screen protector explicitly compatible with its ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
- Desk charging: a compatible 25W-class USB-C charger and cable; add a Qi stand if drop-in convenience is more important than charging speed.
- Travel: a USB-C power bank and dependable cable. A case is useful protection, but it will not improve battery health.
- Media storage: a reputable microSD card; add a USB-C card reader if you regularly transfer files to another device.
- DeX workspace: a video-output-capable hub or adapter, HDMI cable, monitor, and keyboard/mouse. Check the display connection before buying the hub.
- Driving: a case-compatible mount. Add a wired car charger or choose a wireless charging mount if its case and heat limitations suit your setup.
Troubleshoot common compatibility problems
Fingerprint unlocking fails after installing a protector
- Clean the display and check that the protector is fully adhered, with no bubbles over the sensor.
- Delete and re-register fingerprints with the protector installed.
- Enable increased touch sensitivity if available and test again.
- If recognition remains unreliable, test without the protector to isolate the cause, then replace it with one that explicitly supports the S20 ultrasonic sensor.
Wireless charging does not start or keeps stopping
Remove metal plates or accessories, center the phone on the charging coil, and test without the case. Check the charger and its cable, allow the phone to cool, and look for foreign objects between the phone and pad. If charging still fails with a known-compatible setup, the phone’s charging hardware may need service.

Aging battery, water exposure, and repair decisions
A power bank is a practical runtime aid, not a fix for swelling, overheating, rapid shutdowns, or physical damage. Seek professional repair or replace a phone showing those signs. Samsung’s series datasheet gives the S20 an IP68 rating, but that is not a promise that an older phone is waterproof: age, drops, repairs, and seal wear can affect resistance. What to buy first
Start with a correctly fitted case and a fingerprint-compatible screen protector if protection is the priority. Add a 25W-class charger and quality cable if you lack a suitable USB-C charger. For a used S20 with limited runtime, prioritize checking battery condition and consider a power bank. A microSD card, DeX hub, car mount, and audio adapter are workflow-specific upgrades, not necessities for every owner. The S20 has USB-C and Bluetooth but no conventional 3.5mm headphone jack; Bluetooth earbuds or USB-C audio are the straightforward options. For wired 3.5mm headphones, use a USB-C adapter with an integrated DAC, since a passive adapter may not work and the phone’s port cannot also take a wired charger at the same time. Samsung lists USB-C and Bluetooth 5.0 in its technical specifications.
