Status as of August 18, 2026: No confirmed ongoing global Spotify outage is established by the available evidence. Spotify’s status page displayed “All Systems Operational,” but its visible incident history ended on August 1, so that page alone cannot verify live conditions on August 18. Check Spotify’s status page, Ongoing Issues board and @SpotifyStatus for the latest notices. Verdict: Evidence is limited; no broad outage is confirmed.
Last status check: August 18, 2026; the available status-page snapshot does not provide a verifiable check time or time zone. This tracker should be refreshed with timestamped checks before publication and whenever new evidence appears.

Is Spotify down right now?
The available evidence does not confirm a Spotify-wide outage as of August 18, 2026. The official status page displayed “All Systems Operational,” but its visible incident history ran only through August 1. That makes it a useful first check, not proof of live status on August 18. No current, verifiable third-party report count or platform-by-platform test is available here, so individual services and regions remain unverified.
Spotify directs users to its ongoing-issues guidance, which points to the community board and @SpotifyStatus. An outage report spike can signal trouble, but it does not establish the cause, reach or affected services.

Which Spotify services are affected?
There is no verified current service-by-service incident information in the available evidence. Treat these services as unknown rather than assuming they are all working or all down:
- Mobile playback, login and account pages.
- Web Player and Windows, macOS or Linux desktop apps.
- Search, recommendations, playlists, library, podcasts and video podcasts.
- Downloads and offline playback.
- Spotify Connect, smart speakers, Chromecast, CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Artist and creator dashboards, Premium subscriptions and account management.
Spotify’s Ongoing Issues board records problems that may affect a particular feature, device or region rather than the full service. A working phone app does not establish that the Web Player or account pages are unaffected.

Is the problem global or regional?
A global label requires evidence across locations and services; reports from one country, ISP or platform are not enough. Compare the same Spotify function on Wi-Fi and cellular data, and—if possible—ask someone in another location to test it. If failures cluster on one network or in one region, describe them as regional or network-specific until broader evidence appears.
For example, Spotify Community moderators reported on July 27, 2026, that the Web Player, desktop app and other pages were unavailable in parts of Asia. That report describes a regional incident, not proof that Spotify was down worldwide.

What Spotify officially says
Use first-party channels before drawing a conclusion. Spotify’s formal status page shows operational states and incident history; the community board can surface feature- or platform-specific problems; and the official @SpotifyStatus account may post updates. Spotify itself directs users to the board and account through its support guidance.
- Check Spotify Status for a listed incident or maintenance notice. Read the update date as well as the displayed state.
- Check Ongoing Issues for an issue matching your platform or symptom. “Under investigation” means it is being investigated; “Fixed” means the board marks that report resolved, not necessarily that every user has recovered.
- Check @SpotifyStatus for an official social update.
- Use independent monitors as corroboration, not confirmation. They reflect user reports or availability observations, not Spotify’s internal systems.
An empty formal status page does not rule out a delayed acknowledgement, regional routing problem or single-feature failure. Conversely, a surge of posts or monitor reports alone does not prove a Spotify-side outage.

What errors are users seeing?
No specific error message is verified for a current August 18 incident. Common symptoms to record include “Something went wrong,” “Can’t play this right now,” login failures, an app stuck on the Spotify logo, tracks skipping after a few seconds, an indefinitely loading play button, blank playlists or recommendations, and a failing Web Player while mobile playback works.
None of these messages identifies the root cause by itself. An outage, network filtering, a cache problem, account trouble or device-specific bug can produce similar symptoms. Note the exact message, affected platform and time when checking for a matching official report.

How to tell whether the problem is local
- Only one device fails: A device or app issue is more likely than a broad outage.
- The Web Player works but the app does not: Focus on the app, its cache and its version.
- Cellular works but Wi-Fi does not: Check the home network, router, DNS or ISP path rather than assuming Spotify is down.
- Other websites and streaming services also fail: Your internet connection may be the underlying problem.
- Only one account, playlist or feature is affected: This may be account- or feature-specific, even if playback elsewhere works.
- Downloaded tracks play but streaming fails: That points to a connectivity difference, though offline access may still depend on periodic account or licensing checks.
What to try before assuming an outage
- Check the official status page.
- Look for a matching post on the Ongoing Issues board and @SpotifyStatus.
- Test another device, then try the Spotify Web Player.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data. Check whether other websites work on the same connection.
- Force-close Spotify and reopen it.
- Sign out and back in only if you know your account credentials.
- Update Spotify, then restart the device.
- Clear the app cache if that option is available on your platform.
- Reinstall only after the earlier checks. Downloads and other local data may need to be restored.
Spotify’s ongoing-issues support page also links to guidance on playback, sound, updating, reinstalling and checking the app version.
What not to do during an outage
- Do not repeatedly reinstall the app while Spotify is investigating a confirmed service issue.
- Do not delete downloads unnecessarily; reinstalling may require restoring them.
- Do not change your account country or payment details to troubleshoot playback.
- Do not reset your password unless the symptoms point to account access or security trouble.
- Do not give credentials to unofficial accounts claiming to offer Spotify support.
- Do not treat a high report count as proof of a global outage, or assume a VPN will fix a server-side failure.
Recent Spotify incidents
These dated incidents illustrate why status reports need a location and service scope. They are historical, not evidence that the same problems are happening now.
- July 14, 2026: Spotify reported intermittent issues affecting multiple services; the issue was later marked fixed on its Ongoing Issues board.
- July 27, 2026: Spotify Community moderators reported that the Web Player, desktop app and other pages were unavailable in parts of Asia, indicating a regional report rather than a verified worldwide outage.
- July 29, 2026: Down for Everyone or Just Me recorded about two hours of elevated Spotify reports. This is a third-party observation, not Spotify’s official incident duration.
- August 5, 2026: Tom’s Guide reported a substantial user-report spike involving the app, website and desktop app; Spotify later posted an issue through community channels.
Those examples do not establish a general restoration time. Wait for incident-specific updates rather than relying on a promised fix estimate.
