Archive note: Amazon Prime Big Deal Days Australia 2024 ran from 12:01 a.m. AEDT on Tuesday, 8 October, to 11:59 p.m. AEDT on Sunday, 13 October 2024. The event has ended; every price and discount below is historical and is not a current offer.
Amazon positioned the six-day promotion as its second major Australian Prime shopping event of 2024, separate from July Prime Day and aimed partly at early Christmas buying. Most headline offers were reserved for Prime members, while deals appeared across Amazon devices, marketplace products, appliances, electronics, homewares, fashion, toys, books, groceries and everyday essentials.

What Prime Big Deal Days was
Prime Big Deal Days was Amazon Australia’s October Prime-member shopping event, branded as an early-holiday promotion rather than simply a second “Prime Day”. It combined Amazon-owned hardware with products sold by Australian and international third-party merchants on Amazon.com.au.

- Amazon.com Gift Cards never expire and carry no fees.
- Multiple gift card designs and denominations to choose from.
- Redeemable towards millions of items store-wide at Amazon.com or certain affiliated websites.
- Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.
- No returns and no refunds on Gift Cards.
How the offers worked
- Prime-exclusive price: the lower price was shown to eligible members.
- Coupon: a discount that normally required ticking a coupon box on the product page before checkout.
- Lightning or limited-time deal: a time- or quantity-limited offer that could disappear before the advertised event end.
- Ordinary sale: a promotion that did not necessarily require Prime.
The “was” price or recommended retail price was not proof of the lowest price available in Australia. Seller, postcode, stock, delivery charges and product configuration could all change the final amount.
When it ran in Australia
The event started at 12:01 a.m. AEDT on 8 October 2024 and finished at 11:59 p.m. AEDT on 13 October 2024. AEDT was the daylight-saving designation used for much of eastern Australia. Shoppers elsewhere should follow the local time shown in their Amazon account rather than manually converting the eastern-state start time.
Amazon’s live announcement and dates are documented at Amazon Australia; Finder also recorded the Australian schedule at Finder Shopping.
Who could shop and what Prime cost
Prime members could access the event’s Prime-exclusive prices. In September 2024, Amazon advertised a 30-day free trial for eligible new customers, plus membership at A$9.99 per month or A$79 per year. Those were the offers published for that event, not a confirmed 2026 price. Check the live Amazon Prime Australia page for current fees, trial eligibility, renewal and cancellation terms.

When membership made financial sense
Joining solely for one purchase was worthwhile only when the expected discount and delivery value exceeded the membership fee. A shopper making several eligible purchases, or using Prime Video, Prime Reading and other included benefits, had a stronger case. Someone buying one inexpensive item, or finding the same price at a non-membership retailer, generally did not.
Anyone starting a trial needed to record the renewal date and cancel through the Amazon account before renewal if they did not want a paid membership.
What was known about 2024 early deals
Verified 2024 information
Amazon’s 17 September 2024 announcement named participating brands including Anker, Bose, Dyson, ECOVACS, LEGO, Philips, SharkNinja, Sony, Tineco, Adidas and Bonds. It said offers would drop during the six-day event, but the announcement did not provide a complete, durable list of pre-event 2024 prices. Early offers could change, sell out or be replaced.

2023 examples are context, not 2024 deals
Amazon’s separate 2023 Australian early-deals page reported more than 70 Prime-member offers in the seven days before that year’s event, including up to 50% off selected ECOVACS, Bose, Echo and Fire TV products, up to 48% off a Ring Spotlight Cam Wired, and reductions on Roborock, Corsair, Bosch, Miele, Philips, De’Longhi, LEGO, GHD, baby products, fashion and pet supplies. Those offers were from 2023 and must not be presented as 2024 inventory. The original historical announcement is at Amazon Australia.
Notable advertised 2024 deals

Categories that mattered most
Amazon devices
Echo speakers and displays, Echo Spot, Kindle and Kindle Scribe, Ring cameras and doorbells, and Fire TV products formed the most visible first-party group. Check generation, storage, advertising-supported variants and required subscriptions before comparing models.
Rank #4
- Gift Card is redeemable towards millions of items storewide at Amazon.com
- Gift Card has no fees and no expiration date
- Gift Card is nested inside a specialty gift box
- Free One-Day Shipping (where available)
- Scan and redeem any Gift Card with a mobile or tablet device via the Amazon App
Smart home and security
Ring, smart speakers, robot vacuums, pet monitors, baby monitors and connected accessories were prominent. Consider account requirements, privacy settings, cloud-storage fees and compatibility with an existing platform.
Home appliances
Dyson, ECOVACS, Roborock, Tineco, Philips, Breville, Instant Pot and Russell Hobbs covered floor care, cooking and small appliances. Replacement filters, bags, brushes, cleaning solution and warranty support can outweigh a large headline percentage.
Consumer technology
Headphones, earbuds, portable speakers, soundbars, televisions, projectors, Chromebooks, memory cards and smartwatches appeared among the technology offers.
Christmas and everyday shopping
Amazon also promoted LEGO and other toys, fashion and footwear, beauty, household supplies, baby products, food, drink and products from Australian small businesses.

How to check whether a deal was genuinely good
- Confirm eligibility and current Prime terms. Review the live offer at Amazon Prime Australia rather than relying on 2024 pricing.
- Write down the exact product. Record model number, generation, storage, colour, bundle and seller before comparing prices.
- Use a wishlist or shopping list. Amazon recommended wishlists and deal notifications for monitoring products; its preparation guidance is at Amazon Australia.
- Check independent retailers. Compare the identical configuration with JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Harvey Norman, Kogan, the manufacturer and other relevant Australian sellers.
- Review price history. CamelCamelCamel Australia can show tracked Amazon ranges, although variants and sellers are not always comparable.
- Inspect fulfilment and warranty. Confirm whether Amazon Australia, the brand or a marketplace seller is responsible, and check delivery date, returns, warranty and import status.
- Calculate checkout cost. Include delivery, taxes, international shipping, accessories, coupons and any subscription.
- Ignore pressure tactics. A countdown or “limited time” label proves urgency, not that the price is historically low.
- Buy only for a real need. A percentage discount is not a saving if the item is an older model, poorly supported or unnecessary.
Product-specific checks
- Robot vacuums: compare mapping, obstacle avoidance, mopping, dock functions, app support, consumables and floor compatibility.
- Dyson and premium appliances: verify model generation and included attachments; clearance models may be discounted because newer versions replaced them.
- Echo and Ring: check privacy preferences, account requirements, cloud features and subscription costs.
- Televisions: compare panel type, refresh rate, HDMI features, brightness, operating system and exact model code.
- Headphones: assess codecs, multipoint, noise cancellation, battery and Australian warranty rather than RRP alone.
- Kindle: check storage, advertising-supported versions, cellular capability and whether accessories are included.
- Imported goods: confirm Australian plug and power compatibility, warranty coverage, taxes and return logistics.
Prime Big Deal Days versus Black Friday
Prime Big Deal Days concentrated Prime-member offers on Amazon and provided an earlier Christmas-shopping opportunity. Black Friday normally gives shoppers a wider set of retailers and brands. Neither event is automatically cheaper: compare the exact model’s recent price, delivery, warranty and membership cost when both promotions are live.
What happened to the 2024 deals
The October 2024 prices expired when the event ended. Amazon pages may now display newer events, different sellers or ordinary pricing, so an old deal link should not be treated as a live buying recommendation. For current membership information, use Amazon Prime Australia; for a future product purchase, verify the live seller, price and return terms at checkout.
Should shoppers have bought in October 2024?
Buying made sense when the exact product was needed, the checkout price was below its recent range and the seller and warranty were acceptable. Waiting was wiser for newly launched products with little review history, items likely to receive broad Black Friday competition, or purchases driven mainly by a large advertised percentage.
