AT&T Data Breach Settlement: The $7,500 Claim Deadline Has Passed

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The AT&T data-breach settlement was real, but its December 18, 2025 claim deadline has passed and the official site says claim forms are no longer available. The advertised “up to $7,500” was a possible combined maximum for qualifying documented losses tied to two separate incidents—not a guaranteed payment. People who already filed should check the official settlement site for updates.

Is the AT&T data-breach settlement legitimate?

Yes. The official settlement website identifies the case as AT&T Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, provides court documents and settlement information, and names Kroll Settlement Administration LLC as administrator. The site lists MDL Docket No. 3:24-md-03114-E.

That does not make every article, social-media post, video, text, or claims page about the settlement official. For claim status or case information, navigate directly to telecomdatasettlement.com or use the administrator’s published contact details. This settlement is also distinct from unrelated AT&T disputes, including older cases over billing, fees, or taxes.

What incidents did the settlement cover?

The settlement addresses claims tied to two separate AT&T data incidents, with different eligibility rules and payment categories.

AT&T 1

This category concerns the incident AT&T announced on March 30, 2024. The official FAQ says potentially included information could comprise combinations of names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, account passcodes, billing account numbers, and Social Security numbers. AT&T disclosures cited by the Associated Press identified approximately 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former account holders in connection with the first breach disclosure; those are reported company figures, not an independent audit. See the Associated Press report.

AT&T 2

This category concerns the incident AT&T announced on July 12, 2024. Whether a person qualified depended on the settlement’s class definition and whether their information or account was associated with the incident—not simply on having been an AT&T customer at some point.

What did “up to $7,500” mean?

The figure combined the maximum documented-loss amounts for the two incident categories. A person covered by both could theoretically seek both, but had to meet each category’s requirements, and could not reuse the same supporting documentation for both claims.

Category Maximum documented-loss amount Key condition
AT&T 1 Up to $5,000 Qualifying losses incurred in 2019 or later and fairly traceable to AT&T 1
AT&T 2 Up to $2,500 Qualifying losses incurred on or after April 14, 2024 and fairly traceable to AT&T 2
Potential combined maximum Up to $7,500 Only for someone eligible under both categories with separate qualifying losses and documentation

These were caps on documented-loss claims, not standard awards. A claimant had to show that a loss was actually incurred, reasonably documented, and fairly traceable to the applicable incident. The amount ultimately available to claimants could also be affected by valid claim volume, settlement deductions, and the settlement’s distribution rules. The official FAQ explains the categories and requirements.

Who could have qualified?

Eligibility turned on the settlement’s class definitions and the data or account involved. Potentially covered people included U.S. residents whose covered information was in AT&T 1, and account owners associated with AT&T 2. Certain line users or end users—and some customers of mobile virtual network operators using AT&T’s network—could also fall within the defined classes.

An AT&T 2 line or end user who was not the account owner could seek reimbursement for qualifying documented losses, but the account owner had to submit the claim on that person’s behalf. The settlement also excluded specified groups, such as AT&T and related entities, certain court personnel, people who timely opted out, and people whose claims had already been released under applicable terms. The official FAQ sets out the detailed eligibility rules.

Can you still file a claim?

No. The deadline for online claims and mailed claims was December 18, 2025; mailed claims had to be postmarked by that date. The official website says claim forms are no longer available. The settlement documents page provides case materials, but it is not a way to submit a new claim after the deadline.

If you believe you submitted a claim on time but have lost the confirmation or cannot find your claim details, contact Kroll through the official website or the number below. Do not use an unsolicited third-party form as a substitute.

What should people who already filed do?

  1. Check the official site directly. Type telecomdatasettlement.com into your browser rather than following an unexpected message link.
  2. Keep claim records. Save your confirmation, class-member ID, PIN, relevant email, and mailing records.
  3. Update contact details if needed. The administrator says class members are responsible for keeping contact information current; use the official site or contact process for a change.
  4. Watch for case and distribution updates. The status of court approval, any appeals, claim review, and payment announcements can change.

Has the settlement been approved, and when will payments arrive?

The final-approval hearing took place on January 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. CT. According to the settlement administrator’s latest posted update located for this article, dated April 23, 2026, the court had not yet issued its final approval decision; the administrator was reviewing and processing claims. Approval could be followed by appeals.

The official materials do not provide a verified payment date. They say distribution can begin only after court approval, expiration or resolution of appeals, and claim review. A passed filing deadline does not mean payments are imminent. Treat claims that checks have been mailed or that a particular month is guaranteed as unverified unless confirmed by the administrator. See the official status updates and the settlement motion and distribution materials.

How to recognize settlement scams

  • Be wary of anyone promising that every AT&T customer will receive $7,500.
  • Do not pay an upfront processing fee or send gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a wire transfer to release a settlement payment.
  • Do not give an unsolicited sender your password or full banking login.
  • Check the domain carefully; the official settlement site is telecomdatasettlement.com.
  • Ignore pressure to file after the December 18, 2025 deadline or claims that a third party can guarantee a payment.

An administrator may need information to manage an already-filed claim, but verify any request independently using the official site or published phone number rather than an unsolicited link.
