Solos announced AirGo Vision on June 28–29, 2024, as a camera-equipped version of its AirGo smart-glasses platform. The reported US launch price was $299. Its headline feature was multimodal ChatGPT-4o interaction: capture a still image, ask a spoken question about what the camera sees, and hear an answer through open-ear speakers. AirGo Vision was not an augmented-reality display, a self-contained computer, or—according to launch reporting—a video camera. In 2026, Solos’ current successor products are the AirGo V and AirGo V2, so buyers must distinguish the original announcement from the newer hardware.
What Solos actually launched
Solos positioned AirGo Vision as the camera version of its AirGo platform, extending the voice-oriented AirGo3 concept with visual input. Solos’ announcement associated the product with OpenAI’s multimodal ChatGPT-4o capabilities (Solos announcement). Coverage at the time placed the US starting price at $299 (Gadgets 360).
The name matters. AirGo3 was primarily an audio smart-glasses generation with ChatGPT-powered voice functions. AirGo Vision was the 2024 camera-equipped product. AirGo V and AirGo V2 are later camera-enabled generations with expanded video claims. A 16MP sensor, 2K recording, live video or other V2 specifications should not be presented as features of the original AirGo Vision.
These are conventional-looking glasses with microphones, open-ear speakers and controls—not glasses with a screen in the lens. They can provide spoken information while leaving the wearer’s view unobstructed, but they do not place text or graphics in front of the eye.

How the ChatGPT camera interaction works
“ChatGPT-enabled” describes an integrated service experience, not ChatGPT running locally inside the frame. The normal path is:
- The glasses connect to a smartphone running the Solos AirGo app.
- You use voice input and the glasses’ controls to start a request.
- On Vision models, the camera captures an image.
- The app and connected cloud services send the request and image for processing.
- An answer is returned as audio through the glasses’ open-ear speakers.
That makes AirGo Vision a hands-free visual question-and-answer accessory. Depending on the software and connection, a wearer could ask what an object is, have visible text interpreted or translated, ask about a surrounding scene, or perform a visual-search-style query. Solos’ earlier AirGo3 materials also described voice search, translation, texting, conversation history and sharing through the app (AirGo3 release).
What the camera does not guarantee
- AI interpretation can be wrong about objects, people, signs, prices, ingredients or context.
- A request may be delayed by Bluetooth, phone, server or network conditions.
- The original launch description was image-oriented. Launch reporting said AirGo Vision could capture photos but did not record video (Gadgets 360 launch report).
- The glasses are not a substitute for a phone camera, professional translation, medical equipment or specialist accessibility technology.
- They should not be the sole basis for emergency, medication, navigation-in-dangerous-conditions or other safety-critical decisions.
Asking an AI about a person also raises accuracy, consent and biometric-privacy issues. “Can analyze an image” is not the same as reliable face recognition or permission to identify someone.
Privacy: a removable camera is useful, but not a solution
AirGo Vision’s clearest privacy differentiator was its modular front. Solos described interchangeable camera-equipped and conventional fronts, allowing the wearer to leave the camera at home while retaining the platform’s audio functions. Coverage also described visible LED notification elements associated with camera activity (Solos/Android Central report).

That is a meaningful hardware choice compared with glasses whose camera is permanently built in, but it does not make recording automatically acceptable. A wearer remains responsible for consent and venue rules in workplaces, schools, museums, medical facilities, private homes and other restricted locations. An LED may be easy for the wearer to see while being missed or misunderstood by bystanders.
Before buying or using any camera front, check the current Solos app documentation and privacy policy for whether images are transmitted, stored, retained for history, or shared with an AI provider. Those terms can change by product generation, region and software version. Also check whether the indicator can be disabled or obstructed; defeating an indicator can create serious consent problems even where it is technically possible.
Phone and cloud dependence
AirGo Vision is not an offline AI computer. The phone remains important for pairing, setup, internet access, app configuration, conversation management, media handling and likely firmware updates. If the phone is unavailable, disconnected or out of network range, the visual-AI experience may not work even though basic Bluetooth audio functions can remain available.
This architecture keeps the frame lighter and lets Solos update or combine services, but it also means more points of failure and more data moving beyond the glasses. Buyers who require local processing, guaranteed offline operation or complete independence from a smartphone should look elsewhere.

The AirGo Vision announcement and launch coverage date to June 28–29, 2024. The reported US price was $299 for the AI-enabled camera configuration. Earlier AirGo3 launch pricing ranged from $199 to $299 depending on style. Solos’ 2023 AirGo3 release also described a $9.99-per-month Premium plan with enhanced text-to-speech, standalone AI access and extended ChatGPT history (Solos AirGo3 release).
That $9.99 figure is historical AirGo3 information, not a confirmed 2026 AirGo Vision, AirGo V or AirGo V2 subscription price. Verify the live app terms, checkout, warranty, returns, prescription-lens support and shipping region before paying. A product can remain listed while a particular frame or lens configuration is unavailable or backordered.
AirGo Vision versus the later AirGo V and V2
Solos’ current lineup uses similar names for materially different generations. The table keeps launch-era facts separate from later claims.

| Generation | What is established | Buying context |
|---|---|---|
| AirGo3 | Earlier audio-focused glasses with voice AI features; historical pricing of $199–$299 and a 2023 Premium-plan claim. | Relevant for camera-free voice, calls, music and translation, not the original visual-AI launch. |
| AirGo Vision (2024) | Camera-equipped AirGo concept tied to ChatGPT-4o visual questions; reported $299 US launch price; launch coverage described still-image capture rather than video. | Important as the 2024 announcement, but not necessarily Solos’ current stocked model. |
| AirGo V | Later camera-hinge generation. Solos’ product page lists camera, video-oriented features and a $299 price. | Check the exact front, lens and stock status on the official AirGo V page. |
| AirGo V2 (2026) | Current successor line promoted with a 16MP camera, video/live-video capabilities and multiple AI services; Solos lists models at $299. | See the AirGo V2 page; availability varies by configuration. |
Solos’ later announcements place the V generation’s advanced video features in 2025 and V2 worldwide launch in 2026 (2025 announcement; 2026 announcement). Do not buy a V2 expecting it to be identical to the 2024 Vision hardware, or buy an original Vision unit expecting V2’s video specification.
Everyday hardware considerations
Across the AirGo platform, the interaction model centers on microphones, open-ear speakers, physical or virtual controls and a companion phone. Later V/V2 product pages advertise touch sensors, USB-C charging, splash resistance, up to 10 hours of music streaming or up to seven hours of phone calls. Those are manufacturer figures for later products and activities; they are not continuous camera or AI-runtime measurements for AirGo Vision (Solos AirGo V page).
Open-ear audio preserves awareness of traffic and conversation, but it can leak sound and become difficult to hear in wind, traffic or crowded rooms. Battery life varies sharply by activity, volume, connectivity and camera use. Prescription-ready also does not mean every prescription, frame size, transition treatment or polarized option is available in every country.
AirGo Vision versus Ray-Ban Meta
Ray-Ban Meta is the most obvious comparison because both categories combine camera hardware, open-ear audio and a phone companion. Solos’ case is different rather than automatically better:
| Consideration | Solos AirGo Vision concept | Ray-Ban Meta category |
|---|---|---|
| AI emphasis | ChatGPT/OpenAI-centered visual interaction at launch, mediated through Solos software. | More established Meta camera, calling, media and social ecosystem. |
| Camera choice | Interchangeable camera and non-camera fronts were central to the privacy/design pitch. | Camera is generally integrated into the frame design. |
| Generation clarity | Buyers must distinguish 2024 Vision from V and V2. | Broader installed base and more independent user coverage. |
| Best reason to choose | ChatGPT-oriented hands-free questions and the option to remove the camera front. | A mature consumer workflow for capture, calls and sharing. |
Current Meta pricing, regional AI availability and subscription terms should be checked on the official product page rather than inferred here (Ray-Ban Meta). Display-oriented products such as Even Realities G1 (Even Realities) and RayNeo (RayNeo) follow a different philosophy: they are more relevant if information in the lens matters more than camera-based audio answers.
Who should consider AirGo-style glasses?
Good fits
- Early adopters who want hands-free visual questions.
- Travelers seeking spoken translation or help interpreting signs and menus.
- People who prefer open-ear audio to earbuds.
- Buyers who value a removable camera front.
- Developers and experimenters exploring multimodal interfaces.
- Some blind or low-vision users, after testing response speed, accuracy, audio clarity and controls for their needs.
Poorer fits
- Anyone expecting an in-lens AR display or heads-up navigation.
- Users who need offline AI or a phone-free device.
- Privacy-sensitive people who do not want a camera near their face.
- Buyers seeking action-camera or modern-phone video quality.
- Anyone requiring guaranteed object, text or face recognition.
- People unwilling to accept cloud processing, app changes or venue-specific camera restrictions.
Solos and partners have promoted accessibility use cases, but AirGo Vision is not established here as a certified medical device or replacement for specialist assistive technology (Ally overview).
Bottom line: a compelling idea with important boundaries
AirGo Vision was a notable 2024 launch because it put camera-based, ChatGPT-4o-style visual questions into conventional open-ear glasses and let users swap to a non-camera front. Its value is hands-free access to a connected AI assistant, not augmented reality, local intelligence or guaranteed recognition. The original product should be treated as a still-image visual-AI device unless its own documentation says otherwise.
In 2026, shoppers should treat AirGo Vision primarily as the origin of the concept and evaluate the current AirGo V2—or a camera-free AirGo model—against their actual needs. Confirm the exact generation, camera and video behavior, app and subscription terms, privacy handling, prescription support and stock status before ordering.
