Should you install it?
No, not for a normal new installation. It is an old build and later LibreWolf releases exist. An outdated browser may lack subsequent browser security fixes, compatibility work and packaging corrections. Use the current package supplied by the official LibreWolf repository or your distribution instead:
- Debian-family systems: the official instructions document
extrepo. - Fedora-family systems: the official repository documents DNF configuration.
- Arch systems: packaging has its own repository and channel history; distinguish current official packages from older AUR instructions.
Official repository information is at repo.librewolf.net and its distribution index. Those instructions install an available current package; they do not prove that the historical 147.0.3-2 binary remains downloadable.
When the old build is useful
- Reproducing a February 2026 bug or regression.
- Auditing an archived Linux image or software bill of materials.
- Comparing source or packaging revisions.
- Testing build provenance or distribution-specific behavior.

A Debian package, RPM or Arch package may add distribution patches, dependencies, desktop integration, sandboxing rules, file locations and signing metadata. Therefore a source tag and a binary package are related artifacts, not necessarily byte-for-byte equivalents.
Package syntax also varies. Debian may show 147.0.3-2; another ecosystem could encode the same upstream and revision information with an epoch, underscore or another separator. Interpret the package manager’s fields rather than assuming every suffix has the same meaning.

Repository indexes can separate AMD64, ARM64 and other architectures. A historical package available for one architecture cannot be assumed to exist or run on another. The official repository exposes, among others, an ARM64 index and the main package index at repo.librewolf.net/dists/librewolf/main/.
Troubleshooting an old-version request
The package cannot be found
- Check the distribution, package manager and exact package name.
- Determine whether
147.0.3-2is a source tag or a binary package request. - Use the current official package for everyday browsing.
- For historical work, use a verified archive rather than an untrusted similarly named download.
Signature or key errors
Do not bypass signature checks or use unauthenticated-install flags. The LibreWolf repository publishes the fingerprint 662E3CDD6FE329002D0CA5BB40339DD82B12EF16 at its distribution index. The browser fails after a downgrade
- Stop repeatedly launching the old build with the newer profile.
- Back up the profile directory.
- Test a fresh temporary profile to separate profile migration from installation failure.
- Return to a supported current build.
- Restore or migrate user data selectively.
Do not assume that arbitrary LibreWolf versions can safely reuse or move a profile backward. A user report describes a profile-rendering problem after an update, but that anecdote does not establish a universal failure pattern: Reddit report.
