Overview

Voicenotes suits people who need a durable record of meetings and a way to turn discussion into follow-up work. Its strongest case is the combination of recording, transcription, summaries and action items; the main compromise is that regular use quickly outgrows the free tier’s weekly minutes and 30-day history.

It is less compelling for someone who only wants a short voice memo or a basic recorder: its meeting workflow and paid transcription allowances are the draw, not a minimal note-taking setup.

Key features

Capture and follow-through

Voicenotes records both online and in-person meetings, and says it can work with meeting apps without a bot joining the call. It turns recordings into transcripts, summaries, action items and next steps, a useful package for people who need to revisit decisions and track what comes next. Those outputs make it more than an audio archive, though the value depends on recording the conversation in the first place.

Ask AI, languages and integrations

Ask AI answers questions based on information in a user’s conversations, while AI note search provides another route back into accumulated notes. Transcription covers 100+ languages; the FAQ names English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian and 60+ others. That breadth is useful for multilingual users, though the published language examples do not spell out every supported language.

The integrations collection includes Glean, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack Huddle, MCP, Zapier, webhooks, Readwise, Notion, Obsidian, Todoist and Things 3. MCP can let connected AI tools search notes, browse by date or tags, retrieve transcripts and create notes; it authenticates through browser OAuth. This is a meaningful advantage for users who want notes accessible from other tools, but it also makes the service more than a standalone recorder.

Privacy and organization

Voicenotes says it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, encrypts data, and does not use recordings or transcripts to train AI models. Enterprise adds consent capture and tracking, organization-level content-sharing controls, SSO and SCIM provisioning. Those controls matter for teams managing meeting content; they do not replace an organization’s own review of its consent and data-handling needs.

Pricing

The Basic plan is free. It allows unlimited recordings but caps transcription at 100 minutes per week and keeps history for 30 days. That is a reasonable way to try the workflow or handle light use, but the minute cap and shorter history can be restrictive for frequent meetings or long-term reference.

Pro costs 9.00 USD per month and includes unlimited recordings, transcription minutes, history, audio imports and storage, plus advanced integrations. It is the clearest fit for individuals who record regularly and want their archive to remain searchable over time. The pricing note gives the paid starting point as 9 /user/mo; the plan details do not state a separate seat minimum.

Enterprise costs 24.00 USD per month and adds SSO, SCIM, consent management, admin sharing controls, custom CRM and dialer integrations, a dedicated success manager and priority support SLAs. It is aimed at organizations that need identity and sharing administration or more tailored integrations, rather than individuals seeking extra transcription alone.

A 3-day trial is offered. The pricing page directs users to email support, while Enterprise includes the dedicated manager and priority support SLAs.

Platforms

Voicenotes is available on web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with a Chrome extension. The site also lists Watch and Wear OS availability. Its broad platform coverage makes it easier to carry meeting notes across desktop and mobile, although no platform-specific feature differences are stated.

Who it's for

Voicenotes is a strong fit for people with recurring meetings who need more than a transcript: searchable conversation records, summaries and concrete follow-ups. Teams that need centralized access controls, consent management or custom CRM and dialer integrations have a case for Enterprise. People who record only occasionally can start on Basic, but should expect the weekly transcription allowance and 30-day history to set the boundaries.

It is not the obvious choice for someone who needs only brief voice notes, a single-platform tool, or an indefinite free archive. The paid plans are where unlimited transcription and history begin.

Pros and cons

Meeting-to-action workflow: transcripts, summaries, action items and next steps keep follow-up attached to recorded conversations.
No-bot meeting approach: Voicenotes says it works with meeting apps without adding a bot participant, which suits calls where that is undesirable.
Broad language and integration coverage: 100+ transcription languages and named connections to meeting, notes and productivity tools support varied workflows.
Free-plan constraints: 100 transcription minutes per week and 30-day history limit its usefulness as an ongoing meeting archive.
Paid use for sustained volume: unlimited transcription and history require Pro at 9.00 USD per month; Enterprise is needed for its organizational controls.

Alternatives

AudioPen is worth considering for short recordings and voice typing: its free plan caps recordings at 3 minutes and includes transcription and rewrite, with limited voice typing sessions. Choose Voicenotes instead when meeting capture, follow-up items and unlimited paid transcription are the priority.

Audionotes offers unlimited voice notes capped at 1 minute each, along with unlimited text notes, transcripts and summaries on its free plan. It is a better fit for very short notes; Voicenotes is the more meeting-focused option.

VoiceJournal has a free plan limited to 10 notes total, 2 minutes per recording and basic AI transcription. Consider it if those limits suit a small personal voice journal; Voicenotes is better suited to recurring meeting records.

Cleft is limited to iOS and macOS, with a free plan offering 5-minute recordings, three built-in output styles, on-device transcription, tags, search and export. It may suit Apple users who value on-device transcription; Voicenotes has broader platform support and meeting-oriented outputs.

Memex is a free Android and iOS app whose AI features require a configured model service, which may incur provider charges. It is a possible fit for users comfortable configuring that service; Voicenotes includes meeting capture and transcription in its own plans.

Memoth offers a guest option with one 3-minute recording and full AI transcription, plus a free account tier with a 10-minute monthly allowance. It is a more constrained starting point for occasional use; Voicenotes Basic allows 100 transcription minutes per week.

Notabe is an iOS-only option whose free plan includes five AI summaries per month. Choose it if that summary allowance and platform fit your needs; Voicenotes covers more platforms and meeting capture.

Soniox is an API option with a free plan that adds credits weekly and a Pro plan at 19.99 USD per month with unlimited transcription. It suits an API-focused workflow; Voicenotes is the more direct choice for recording meetings and organizing their follow-up.

Verdict

Choose Voicenotes if meetings are a regular source of information and you want recordings turned into searchable transcripts and usable follow-ups across desktop and mobile. Its no-bot approach, broad language coverage and Pro archive make a strong case for frequent users. Look elsewhere if short personal voice notes are all you need, or if the free plan’s 100 weekly minutes and 30-day history are not enough and a paid subscription is not worthwhile.
