Overview

Vantage sorts a shoot into keep, review, and cut selections, and accepts camera RAW, JPEG, and TIFF files without a conversion step. Offline culling is supported, which can keep selection work moving without a connection. The desktop app is still early access, however, and Vantage describes it as having rough edges; it also says performance is better on cars and property than weddings.

Key features

Selection and adjustments

AI-assisted scoring and grouping, alongside batch culling actions, help photographers narrow a large shoot into a shortlist. Exposure, colour, and straightening adjustments can be applied across keepers, with photo-by-photo changes when an image needs individual attention. These are useful selection-stage refinements, not a substitute for a broader editing workflow.

Search and delivery

Natural-language search finds images by subject, angle, and lighting, helping photographers locate a particular kind of frame across a shoot. Client galleries can be password-protected and set to expire; clients can download full-size or web-size images. That makes Vantage more than a culling tool, particularly for photographers who want to share a selected set directly with clients.

Workflow and privacy

The desktop app exports Lightroom XMP sidecars and catalog data, and Capture One is among the supported workflow names. Desktop culling runs locally by default. For cloud processing, the privacy policy says uploaded originals are deleted when results are ready and photos are not used to train AI models. On iPhone, everyday scanning runs on-device; optional photographer Pro modes send reduced-size copies to a scoring server and delete them after scoring.

Pricing

Vantage has a free iPhone plan and paid iPhone and desktop subscriptions. Vantage iPhone Free costs 0.00 GBP per free and includes cleanup and duplicate finding from the last 30 days, monthly best photos, and space-saving tools. Its time window makes it a limited fit for someone seeking access across an entire photo library.

Vantage Pro for iPhone is 2.99 GBP per month, billed monthly, with three-month, yearly, or whole-library access and one week free to try. It fits iPhone users who want broader scanning access than the free plan provides.

Vantage desktop costs 15.99 GBP per month, billed monthly, and includes unlimited shoots and 2.5 GB of cloud storage. It is the relevant plan for photographers using the culling, adjustment, search, and delivery workflow; the included storage is a defined allowance, not unlimited cloud space. The stated desktop starting price is £15.99/mo.

Platforms

Vantage is available on iOS, macOS, and Windows. The desktop workflow is aimed at photographers working across car, property, wedding, event, portrait, and other shoots, though its stated performance caveat makes it a less assured choice for wedding work. Support usually replies within a day, according to the help center.

Who it's for

Vantage is best suited to photographers who want to cull a shoot, make shared adjustments, find frames by natural-language queries, and deliver client galleries without separating those stages into distinct tools. Car and property photographers have the clearest stated case. Wedding photographers may prefer a tool without Vantage's explicit caveat about weaker performance in that genre.

Pros and cons

Pros: RAW, JPEG, and TIFF support without conversion, plus offline culling, suits photographers working directly from shoot files.
Pros: Culling, batch adjustments, search, and protected client galleries bring several steps of a shoot workflow together.
Pros: Local-by-default desktop culling and the stated deletion of cloud-scored originals address two distinct privacy concerns.
Cons: Early-access rough edges and weaker stated performance on weddings make it a riskier primary choice for wedding photographers.
Cons: The desktop plan includes 2.5 GB of cloud storage, so photographers with substantial delivery or processing needs should account for that allowance.

Alternatives

Photo Culling Software is a category guide for comparing options. Photo Curator is a free, open-source option for photographers who want software across Linux, macOS, web, or Windows. Selekt is worth considering for macOS or Windows users who want a free plan with unlimited imports, culling, and export, on-device focus, exposure, and blur scoring, and limited cloud AI and sync.

SnapCuller is another freemium alternative. OptiCull offers a freemium option for macOS users. Keeper is a paid macOS alternative without a free plan. FilterPixel has a free plan and offers a one-time Extra DeepCull shoot option as well as a Standard subscription. PhotoPicker is an alternative for Android and iOS. Culvia is a free option for web, Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Verdict

Choose Vantage if you want photo selection, practical adjustments, search, and client delivery in a single photographer-focused workflow, especially for car or property shoots. Look elsewhere if you need a more mature desktop product or want to rely on it for wedding culling, where Vantage itself flags weaker performance.
