Overview

TUIO brings tuition billing together with enrollment, student records, attendance, fundraising and family communication. That range is useful for schools and childcare centers looking to connect administrative workflows rather than handle each in a separate system. Its audience includes private, Montessori, public and faith-based schools, as well as daycares and other childcare centers. Founded in 2017, the company is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The platform is web-only. Families pay their school directly: TUIO says it neither holds nor routes the funds. That arrangement may appeal to organizations that prefer payment proceeds to stay between families and the school.

Key features

Billing and payments

Automatic invoices, configurable programs, payment plans, accounts receivable management and automated payments give schools several ways to structure tuition collection. Recurring billing and autopay can reduce routine payment administration; reconciliation tools and financial aid workflows extend the platform beyond taking payments. The combination is relevant to schools that need to manage both charges and follow-up, not just process transactions.

Enrollment, records and attendance

Schools can create registration forms, collect fees on those forms, maintain digital waitlists and message families. Student records support custom fields, exports, lists and internal profile notes, offering flexibility for schools with their own record-keeping needs. Staff can record attendance manually or automatically, manage classes and schedules, and send parents notices about absences and late arrivals.

Accounting, security and support

TUIO supports a QuickBooks Online workflow through SaasAnt, using exported deposit and payout data for accounting and reconciliation. This provides a route into an existing accounting process, though it is an export-based workflow rather than a claim of direct integration.

TUIO says two-factor authentication is mandatory and that traffic and stored records are encrypted. Student and family records are hosted in Canada on AWS infrastructure. Card and bank details go from the payer’s browser to the payment processor; TUIO says it does not collect, transmit or store those numbers.

Pricing

TUIO describes its model as freemium, but its Free plan is marked as unavailable. The named Starter plan has no published price, so it should be treated as custom pricing. It includes billing and payments, enrollment contracts and registration forms, donations and fundraising, parent communications, and unlimited human support. It is a potential fit for schools weighing those core workflows, but the published plan details do not establish a price for comparing its cost with Professional.

Professional costs 500.00 USD per year, billed annually per location; Canadian schools are billed in CAD and US schools in USD. The annual fee applies to each physical location, so multi-site organizations should account for the cost at every site. TUIO Professional is also priced at 500.00 USD per year, billed annually per location, with US schools paying in USD and Canadian schools in CAD. It adds a $0.75 per bank debit transaction charge, while SMS has a monthly activation fee plus a per-message cost. There is no setup fee, and custom multi-year contracts are available. Those variable charges matter for schools expecting frequent bank debits or substantial SMS use.

Platforms

TUIO runs on the web. Schools seeking a listed mobile app platform should compare alternatives that support iOS or Android.

Who it's for

TUIO is most compelling for schools and childcare providers that want tuition collection tied to enrollment, records, attendance and communication with families. Its forms, waitlists and fee collection suit organizations managing registration as well as recurring tuition, while location-based pricing is a key consideration for groups operating several physical sites. It is less suited to buyers who require a free plan or a mobile app platform.

Pros and cons

Broad school operations in one platform: billing, enrollment, records, attendance, fundraising and family messaging can be managed together.
Flexible collection workflows: recurring billing, autopay, payment plans and financial aid workflows address more than one tuition-payment pattern.
Support and setup are included in Professional: unlimited human help, onboarding and a live setup session can assist schools adopting the system.
Location-based annual cost: Professional is 500.00 USD per year per location, with the currency differing for Canadian schools.
Extra usage charges apply: bank debit costs $0.75 per transaction and SMS has activation and per-message fees.
No free plan and web-only access: buyers seeking a free service or listed mobile platform will need to look elsewhere.

Alternatives

Byntix School Fee Management is worth considering when a free plan or Android access matters, since it offers both. For enrollment-focused needs, Finalsite Enrollment is a paid web and API option with custom pricing on request. Flywire Student Financial Software is another paid web option; its SaaS quote varies with institution size and solution.

Readers comparing more fee-management options can consider Locus Fee Management, which supports web, iOS and Android; Collexo Payment Cloud, a paid web option; and SkoolBeep Fee Management, which supports web, iOS and Android. Infinite Campus is another paid option with web, iOS and Android access, while TADS is a paid web alternative. For broader category comparisons, see Tuition Management Software and Early Childhood Education Software.

Verdict

TUIO is a strong fit for schools and childcare centers that want billing connected to enrollment, records, attendance and family communication, with substantial support included in Professional. Choose it when that joined-up workflow justifies an annual fee per location; look elsewhere if a free plan, mobile access or lower exposure to transaction and messaging fees is more important.
