Overview

Volunteers can log time online, in the mobile app, or through onsite check-in. Organizations can turn those records into instant reports, filter or group them, and export them to Excel. That mix of collection and reporting is more useful than a bare timesheet when coordinators need to summarize participation or check progress toward requirements.

Event calendars support RSVPs, customized notifications, and verification that can be used to log hours. Milestones give volunteers and organizers a way to follow configured goals. These tools make the product better suited to programs that coordinate events and service-hour targets together than to organizations seeking only a lightweight time log.

Key features

Volunteer and administrator workflows

The mobile app lets volunteers record hours, see timesheets, and sign up for events; administrators can add volunteers and view hours. Administrators can approve or decline submissions, but hour approval begins with Premium, so Basic is not the right tier for organizations that require staff review before accepting time records.

Events, milestones, and integrations

Event verification can tie logged hours to participation, while milestones show progress toward configured requirements or goals. The school integrations support most SIS, LMS, and identity management systems, including Blackbaud, FACTS SIS, PowerSchool, Canvas, Google Classroom, Clever, and ClassLink. They are aimed specifically at student service-hour programs, and interested organizations are asked to contact the team.

Track It Forward says its US data centers are SOC 2 and GDPR compliant, uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher for data in transit, and backs up the site daily. It also says it does not use, share, or sell customer data collected through the product. Support is primarily by email, with meetings when needed; larger organizations can obtain onboarding and training for an additional fee.

Pricing

The free trial lasts 30 days and requires no credit card or payment method. Accounts that are not upgraded afterward move to the free plan. Only active volunteers count toward subscription pricing; archived inactive volunteers do not.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Free	Free	Basic tracking for grassroots organizations with fewer than 25 volunteers.	Small grassroots groups that can work within the volunteer cap and need basic tracking.
Basic	13.25 USD per month	Price shown for 100 users; time tracking, event calendar, reports, mobile app, milestones, and email messages. Annual billing saves 20%.	Programs needing the core event, reporting, and mobile tools without hour approval.
Premium	25.00 USD per month	Price shown for 100 users; Basic features plus hour approval, multiple administrators, conditional milestones, custom profile fields, and a digital event sign-in sheet. Annual billing saves 20%.	Organizations that need staff review of hours or more administrator and profile controls.
Advanced	37.00 USD per month	Price shown for 100 users; Premium features plus text messages, advanced verifications, file upload fields, conditional hour log fields, check-in kiosk, and offline mode. Annual billing saves 20%.	Programs that need the added verification, kiosk, offline, or field options.

Basic is the lowest paid tier, but it gives up approval and the higher-tier verification and administration tools. The listed paid prices are for 100 users, making the volunteer count relevant when comparing plans; the free plan's fewer-than-25 cap is a separate, explicit constraint.

Platforms

Track It Forward runs on the web and has Android and iOS apps. Mobile access is practical for volunteers logging time or signing up for events away from a desk, while administrators can review hours and manage volunteer records in the app.

Who it's for

Track It Forward is best for volunteer programs that want hour logging, event participation, reports, and progress tracking in one system. It is particularly relevant to schools running student service-hour programs that can use its integrations. A group with fewer than 25 volunteers can start on Free, while organizations that need approvals, additional administrators, or advanced verification should assess Premium or Advanced. It is a weaker fit for teams that only need a simple time record or require approval on the lowest paid plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Volunteers can log hours online, by mobile app, or onsite, giving programs multiple ways to capture time.
Pros: Reports can be filtered or grouped and exported to Excel, supporting both review and summaries.
Pros: Event RSVPs, verification, milestones, and hour tracking connect participation with service goals.
Pros: The free trial has no payment method requirement and rolls to a free plan if the account is not upgraded.
Cons: Free is limited to grassroots organizations with fewer than 25 volunteers, so it is not a broad no-cost option for larger programs.
Cons: Hour approval is absent from Basic, which means organizations needing that control must pay for Premium or above.
Cons: School integrations are targeted to student service-hour programs, limiting their relevance to other volunteer operations.
Cons: Support is primarily by email, and onboarding or training for larger organizations costs extra.

Alternatives

Consider Nonprofit Volunteer Management Software for a broader comparison of volunteer-management options. POINT is worth considering if an organization wants a free plan with unlimited volunteers and administrators alongside signups, scheduling, messaging, reminders, and time tracking.

VolunteerMark may suit a group that can use its free plan for up to 50 volunteers with one administrator and unlimited event creation. GivePulse is another option for organizations weighing a free tier with one administrator, no subgroups, and five custom fields.

Vome offers a free Recruit plan with unlimited volunteers and admin seats, which may fit teams prioritizing those limits. Timecounts may appeal to web-only programs seeking a free plan with one organizer, unlimited volunteers, a brandable volunteer hub, and time logs.

Mobilize is an alternative for teams that can work within a free starter account capped at five team members and the next five events or online actions. OpenVolunteer is a choice for organizations seeking a free self-hosted option. Volunteer.box is another free option for organizations with fewer than 100 volunteers.

Verdict

Choose Track It Forward if your program needs flexible hour collection, event-linked records, reporting, and progress tracking, especially for student service hours. Its strongest advantage is bringing those workflows together across web and mobile. Look elsewhere if your organization exceeds the free cap, needs approval on a lower-cost tier, or wants school integrations for a purpose other than student service hours.
