Overview

Wix eCommerce is a hosted platform for building a website and selling through online channels. It is best suited to sellers who want visual site-building tools alongside commerce features, without an upfront commitment. Its free entry point is a strength; the trade-off is that paid-plan prices are custom, making it harder to weigh the cost of more storage and collaborators.

Key features

The Free plan pairs reliable web hosting with a drag-and-drop editor, no-code design tools and thousands of templates. That gives a new seller room to shape a storefront before paying. Wix also supports digital products, omnichannel sales and abandoned-cart recovery, while an app marketplace offers a way to extend the site. These features make Wix a plausible fit for businesses selling across channels or offering downloads, though the plan details do not establish which commerce capabilities are included at each tier.

Pricing

Wix uses a freemium model. The Free plan is free, and no credit card is required. Paid plans have custom pricing, so compare their capacity needs before committing.

Free: Includes reliable web hosting, a drag-and-drop editor, no-code design features and thousands of templates. It is the lowest-risk way to begin building, but the plan’s listed inclusions do not state a storage or collaborator allowance.
Core: Custom pricing, 50 GB of storage and 5 site collaborators. A fit for a small team that can work within those limits.
Business: Custom pricing, 100 GB of storage and 10 site collaborators. The extra capacity suits a larger site or team, but the price is not given for comparison with Core.
Business Elite: Custom pricing, unlimited storage and 100 site collaborators. It is the tier for teams needing the most room to grow; smaller operations may not need its listed capacity.

Platforms

Wix eCommerce is available on web, iOS and Android. Its hosted model means the offering includes web hosting rather than requiring a self-hosted deployment.

Who it's for

Choose Wix if visual site creation, hosted service and a no-cost starting plan matter more than knowing the paid price in advance. It is less compelling for a buyer who must compare fixed subscription costs before choosing or whose team and storage needs fall outside the paid tiers’ stated capacities.

Pros and cons

Pro: A free plan with hosting and visual, no-code building tools lets sellers start shaping a site without a credit card.
Pro: Digital products, omnichannel sales and abandoned-cart recovery cover several practical selling needs.
Con: Paid plans have custom pricing, making cost comparisons difficult before purchase.
Con: Paid tiers are differentiated here by storage and collaborator limits, so buyers needing other specific plan distinctions may find it difficult to choose on capacity alone.

Verdict

Wix eCommerce is a strong starting point for sellers who want hosted service, visual site-building and selling features under one roof, with no-cost entry. Its main reason to look elsewhere is the custom pricing on every paid tier: if you need predictable costs before choosing, Wix’s storage and collaborator allowances alone do not settle the decision.
