Overview

Textmagic is a business messaging platform for SMS and email campaigns, automated notifications, and two-way conversations. It suits businesses that need recurring, permission-based communication with customers or staff, particularly when shared inbox access or automation matters. Its combination of SMS, email, and workflow tools is useful, but destination-based rates and limits such as the lack of outbound WhatsApp messaging make it a narrower fit for some teams.

Key features

Textmagic covers both bulk and ongoing communication: teams can send mass texts and email campaigns, schedule campaigns, automate workflows, and manage replies in a shared inbox. Delivery reporting, audience segmentation, inbound messaging, and MMS support round out the campaign and conversation tools. That breadth can handle appointment reminders, delivery updates, staff alerts, payment reminders, broadcasts, and lead follow-up without treating every message as a one-off send.

The shared inbox is a practical advantage for teams that need visibility into customer or staff conversations. The iOS and Android apps support SMS conversations and contact management, while advanced features are available in the web app. Textmagic also offers a REST API for SMS and email, plus an MCP connector for compatible AI assistants and coding tools. Integrations include HubSpot, Shopify, WooCommerce, and Zapier; BYOC connections are available through Twilio, Vonage, Sinch, and Bandwidth.

Consent records and automatic opt-out enforcement support permission-based messaging. US 10DLC brand and campaign registration is required for applicable messaging, so US businesses should account for that compliance step. Textmagic states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, and describes annual external penetration testing. Email and phone support numbers are provided for the US, UK, Australia, and Estonia.

Important channel limits shape the fit: Textmagic does not support shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, simultaneous SMS and email campaigns, or virtual numbers for OTP delivery. Businesses needing those capabilities should look elsewhere rather than plan around them.

Pricing

Textmagic has no free plan, but its trial provides full feature access without a credit card for up to 30 days. The prepaid structure makes it possible to try the platform before committing, though ongoing costs depend on destination and message usage.

Essential: 0.05 USD per month, billed 100% prepaid. Rates vary by destination country, and each SMS part allows 160 plain-text characters. This is the stated monthly option, but prepaid billing and variable rates mean buyers should estimate actual sending costs for their destinations.
Professional: custom pricing. Credits roll over for up to 2 months, which may suit teams whose usage fluctuates, though they should weigh the shorter rollover window against their sending cadence.
Essential (pay-as-you-go): 0.00 USD per free, billed with prepaid credits and no monthly minimum; unused credit never expires. US SMS costs $0.049 per message, inbound SMS is free, and 10,000 emails are included free after business domain verification; additional email costs $0.003 per email. A texting number costs extra. This option suits occasional or variable use, but the US per-message rate and number charge still need to be included in a budget.

Compare plan economics using the destinations and channels you actually send to: the US SMS price does not establish rates elsewhere, and the Essential monthly plan uses destination-dependent rates. Textmagic does not offer a free tier for ongoing use.

Platforms

Textmagic is available on web, iOS, Android, and through an API. Mobile apps cover SMS conversations and contact management, while the web app is the better fit for advanced features. API access and the MCP connector give teams another route to integrate messaging into their systems or compatible tools.

Who it's for

Textmagic is best suited to businesses managing recurring, permission-based customer or staff communications, especially where several people need shared conversation visibility or messages need automation. It can serve both campaign sends and operational notices such as reminders and delivery updates. It is less suitable for organizations that depend on shortcodes, outbound social channels, simultaneous SMS-and-email campaigns, or virtual numbers for OTP delivery.

Pros and cons

Pro: Campaigns, automated notifications, and two-way SMS sit alongside email campaigns and a shared inbox, supporting both outreach and ongoing replies.
Pro: A no-card, full-feature trial of up to 30 days gives teams time to assess workflows before paying.
Pro: The pay-as-you-go plan has no monthly minimum and credits do not expire, which helps businesses with irregular sending needs.
Pro: Consent records and automatic opt-out enforcement support permission-based messaging.
Con: Destination rates vary, the Essential monthly option is prepaid, and a texting number costs extra on pay-as-you-go; budgeting requires more than the headline price.
Con: Shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp and social messaging, simultaneous SMS and email campaigns, and OTP virtual numbers are not supported.
Con: Mobile apps do not cover advanced features, so teams using the broader toolset will need the web app.

Alternatives

For verification-focused API work, consider Bird Verify: it has a free plan with no separate verification fee, while channel message charges apply. If a fixed message allowance and a published entry price matter more, Textedly has a Basic plan at 29.00 USD per month for 500 messages per month; annual billing includes 20% more messages, or 600 per month.

Kenect is another paid option with web, iOS, and Android support. Pulse SMS is also paid and supports web, iOS, and Android. For a published high-volume offer, Text Request has an Enterprise plan at 575.00 USD per month with 20,000 included texts, 10 dashboards, and additional texts at $0.032.

MessageDesk offers a Team (yearly) plan at 29.00 USD per year per user, billed under an annual contract with a three-user minimum. Remelo is a web-based freemium alternative with a free plan. SendHub has a Lite plan at 19.00 USD per month with 500 SMS per month, a 50-recipient maximum per SMS, 100 included voice minutes, unlimited keywords, and API integration.

Verdict

Choose Textmagic if your business needs recurring SMS and email communication, automated notices, and a shared place to manage replies, with web, mobile, and API access. Its flexible prepaid option and broad messaging workflow are the main reasons to consider it. Look elsewhere if your channels depend on shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, concurrent SMS and email campaigns, or OTP virtual numbers; check destination rates and the added texting-number cost before settling on a plan.
